THIRD PERSON’S POV

Lucy stood in front of the mirror and adjusted the silver clasp on her dress. She twirled around, checking the fitting of the dress on her.

The dress was a floor-length midnight blue gown, its satin fabric flowing like liquid under the lights. The neckline was modest, a soft bateau cut that framed her collarbones delicately.

The gown cinched gently at her waist, highlighting her silhouette without revealing too much.

Her hair was swept into a soft updo, revealing delicate diamond studs that caught the light when she turned her head. Her makeup was timeless, neutral tones.

As she looked at herself in the mirror, her eyes glistened with a certain emotion. She looked pretty, and she didn't know the last time she felt like that.

Away from Logan and all the drama going on in her life right now, she didn't feel the weight of the betrayal; rather, she felt alive.

“Just for tonight… I will forget everything about you…” she muttered to herself.

“Girlllll, you look pretty

THIRD PERSON'S POV Over the next couple of days Lucy did nothing other than wait. She kept the report she got from Mrs Tina and the flash drive she got from the unnamed man safe in her office. She knew she would have a need for it soon. Her plan was simple: wait it out until the money in the account runs dry. And she was certain it would soon. Between Logan and Caramel, two people who spend money like it was nothing, it would only be a matter of time. She wanted to be sure she left him with nothing to fall back on.She went by her normal day. But Logan was restless.Lucy hadn’t said a word about his allowance. At first she had said she was cutting down on it, but now she was giving nothing at all.The budget had been slashed. No more shopping sprees. No luxury dinners. No free money. Now whatever he spends, he spends from his hidden private account. And Caramel was expensive to maintain, and then he still has to show up at parties, or people will soon realise that he is broke. The

THIRD PERSON'S POV Lucy’s eyes darted to the wall clock. 5:30… it showed She removed her reading glasses and subtly rubbed her eyes. She was beyond exhausted, but there was one more thing left to do before she called it a day.She arranged the papers relating to the financial analysis, locked them in her drawer along with other confidential documents and threw the key into her bag. Once everything was ready, she left her office.Grace rushed out of her office. “Ma’am, do you have a meeting?” she asked.“Yes. I am meeting a client; I will go home from there. So you can go home.” Lucy replied and spun around to leave.“Ma’am…” Grace called out to her.“Yes…” “You have a court session tomorrow by 9 am. You might have to go directly to the courthouse from home so you don't arrive late.”Lucy inhaled sharply, momentarily closing her eyes. “How did I manage to forget that?” she thought to herself. “Please bring the files to the car. I will take them home with me and go from home to the

THIRD PERSON’S POV Lucy's phone pinged, alerting her of a message. But she felt too exhausted to open it. After a while the phone started ringing, but she just let it ring. Clinton looked at her through the front mirror, his eyebrows furrowed, but he said nothing. As soon as Clinton parked in front of the firm, Lucy alighted and made her way to her office. On her way up she noticed Caramel observing her from a corner, but she wasn't in the mood for her stupid antics. “Ma’am…” Grace started to say as Lucy passed her office.Lucy raised her hand, stopping her from continuing. “Don't let anyone in for the next hour. Take my calls, and unless someone is actually dying, don't disturb me for the next hour.” She instructed and walked into her office before Grace could reply.Once Lucy entered, she dropped her bag on the table and she drew her blinds, leaving the sun out, and the office became dark. She kicked off her shoes, fell on the long sofa, covered herself with the sofa blanket, an

THIRD PERSON'S POV Lucy dropped her tablet and rolled down the window. The streets were busy this morning, but Clinton was a good driver, and he knew how to manoeuvre without issues.“Ma’am, the dust level today is high. You shouldn't lower your window.” Clinton said to Lucy.Lucy's lips curved up in a little smile. “You are right, Clinton, but these days I realise how much I have let life move past me. It's okay to enjoy little things too… I mean, everyone is walking around without worrying about the dust level.” She chuckled.Clinton smiled. “You are right, ma’am, but you are different. You are the owner of one of the top law firms; a lot of lives depend on you.” Lucy looked away, her eyes back onto the street. Clinton was right; she was different. She had forgotten to actually live and enjoy her life. For so long she had moved with so much speed that she lost track of how to just be a normal girl and be happy. She had thought she was happy as long as she had Logan, but she could

THIRD PERSON'S POV Logan’s eyes darted to the clock for the umpteenth time. He tapped his foot anxiously and impatiently as the time continued to pass, but Lucy still wasn't back.He needed to know if she found out anything. Could it be the reason she cut his allowance? “Why is it taking her so long to come home today?” He hissed angrily and stood up.He paced their apartment like a caged animal. His eyes darted to the large clock hanging on the wall every now and then. He snatched his phone from the table, intending to dial her number. His finger hovering over the call button, so many thoughts on his mind. His hand fell to his side, and he sighed. He didn't want to seem desperate or eager. That would blow his cover and make Lucy suspicious. His phone suddenly rang, jolting him into shock. He shook at the sudden sound, and the phone fell from his hand in panic. The phone continued to ring on the floor while he just stared at it until the call ended. Once he was calm, the phone st
