Susan's POV
“And who are you to decide what happens here? I thought you never wanted to be part of this discussion? Why the sudden switch?" I attacked Angela without delay. I wasn't bothered if Ethan's Father was there to witness everything. I just couldn't fold my arms and watch her disrespect me in such a manner. If Ethan's Father hadn't stooped so low to marry Angela, she wouldn't dare speak to me like that In public. From my observation about her, I could tell the age gap between us. I could literally pass as her elder sister. Her involvement in my case forced me to stand up from the ground. She probably got to speak to ridicule me after spotting my knees on the ground. If only I had maintained my composure, the disrespect wouldn't have happened “You don't seem to get it, do you? He's my husband. He listens to whatever I say. Lucky you! I haven't asked him to kick you out yet,” Angela bragged. She sounded so sure that Ethan's Father would obey her command. I expected Ethan's Father to debunk Angela's claims, but he didn't. Instead, he was seated comfortably as the drama unfolded. He seemed to enjoy seeing Angela mock me. The only thing left is a bowl of popcorn to complete the cinematic experience. “Your husband?” I made wicked laughter to mock Angela. I wasn't going to let her go Scott-free without a clap back. “I thought you meant to say your Grandfather because that's undoubtedly what it seemed like. I bet you married him because of his wealth. You're a mother fucking gold digger. I could swear on my life that he isn't the biological father of that little boy,” I ranted. I said not much that I could barely even control myself anymore. I was desperate to prove to Angela that I shouldn't be toyed with. I looked forward to a moment like that ever since Angela welcomed Paul and me like a rogue. However, I wanted her to trigger my anger to the point where I couldn't resist it anymore and she did. “What the heck did you just do?” Paul scolded me. He tried to calm my nerves and he failed. I wasn't even looking in his direction. I had no idea what spirit possessed my body. Just when I thought I had won that battle over Angela, she stood up and landed a slap on my soft chin that restored my memory. “How dare you disrespect me in my home? Have you lost your mind?” She yelled at me. It wasn't enough for her to slap me, she still made some moves towards me. I already prepared myself to return the slap to her face when Ethan's Father held my arms in midair I was thinking he was never going to get involved. He came at the wrong time. When I needed him to speak for me, he wasn't there. He could have prevented Angela from hitting me, but he sat down there and did nothing. “But she slapped me first. She shouldn't have done that,” I wept. I was ready to finish the damage I started. I had already given up on everything. After attacking his wife, I didn't expect Ethan's Father to come to my rescue anymore. “That's because you called for it. Are you even aware of the consequences of your utterances? You could be sued for that,” he screamed at me. I lost the battle before it even started. It was me against the world. I was being forced to pull it through alone after Ethan's Father prohibited Paul from speaking. “I apologize,” I said, bowing to Ethan's Father. That was my only escape route after I messed things up with my anger. Mr. Woods looked me in the eyes and rejected my apology. He insisted that I direct the apology to Angela. It turned out to be the greatest task of my life. How do I apologize to my rival? Someone I was yearning to pounce on? Not only will it be a slap on my face, I'll also live with the shame and embarrassment for the rest of my life I couldn't move my lips. I had no idea where to start even though the utterances were stored in my head. “I'm sorry, Angela. I didn't mean to attack you like that,” I finally said something. The apology was brief, yet more difficult than I ever imagined. It's as though a gun was pointed at my head, forcing me to apologize or be shot in the head. "Screw your apology. I don't need it. It obviously didn't come from a place of sincerity,” Angela refuses. I was yet to find my balance when she dashed to the exit door and asked me to leave I thought she was bluffing not until she came forward and nearly forced me out. I focused my glance at Ethan's Father for support and he looked sideways. He fell deaf ears to my plea and acted like I never existed. “We can talk this over. I can't leave now. This is my only hope. I don't have anywhere else to run to,” I pleaded with Ethan's Father for a second chance to turn things around again. “You should have thought about that before disrespecting my family,” he pushed me aside and walked away, leaving me alone with Angela to finish what she started with me When I saw Ethan's Father leave like that, I lost all hopes of achieving my purpose. Angela is literally the last person I could bank on. If she had the opportunity, she would have kicked me out a long time ago. Out of shame, I grabbed my bag and went outside while Paul consoled me as though I just lost a family. I went straight inside the car and rested my head behind the seat. I kept blaming myself for everything. I was this close to convincing Ethan's Father to assist me. I could see it in his eyes that he wanted to help out even though Angela might be a yardstick. After seeing me in tears, Paul refused to drive out immediately.Tony Woods POV“Your wife hired me as her third eye in the company. I tried to back out, but she threatened to report me to the cops. I had no choice but to comply with her evil agenda against you. She never loved you. She married you because of your wealth. She also plots to take over the company immediately after your demise,” Sean revealed. “She never loved you,” the words ring a bell in my head. It feels like a Déjà vu. That was what Susan said when she visited my mansion with Paul.I thought she said that out of jealousy because she couldn't endure the fact I found love according to a younger woman. That was the reason I drove her out of my house. I should have paid more attention to Susan rather than kicking her out. History has repeated itself and the same thing I avoided has finally happened to me.Marcus said so much until I stopped him from talking. He was spilling more dirty secrets than I ever envisaged. I went from wanting more to wanting none. My head couldn
Tony Woods POVWith him on my side as my lawyer, we haven't lost a single legal battle. I don't see how Angela is going to escape this. “I got your text and got here as fast as I could. The tone of the text sounded pretty urgent. What do you want to discuss? Is there a problem we should be worried about?” Marcus asked me after we had exchanged pleasantries and laughed at each other's jokes. He hasn't settled down, and he's already throwing questions at me like an atomic bomb.I wanted to initiate the conversation when I heard funny movements outside my office. Instantly, I halted and leaned my ears forward to observe the sound again “Is anything the matter? Why are you acting weird?” Marcus called my attention after he noticed how silent and observant I'd been over the last couple of minutes. “Give me a second, please. I need to sort something out,” I pleaded with Marcus. Not satisfied, I sneaked to the door and carefully opened it to scan the areas thoroughly. Unfortunately,
Tony Woods POVAfter the departure of Paul and Susan, it took a while for me to regain my sanity. I didn't know where I was anymore I kept on talking to myself like I was losing my mind. I was this close to booking a therapy session to fix the damage that Angela caused in my life. It felt as though I was living the life of someone else. I had a lot in mind to do, but I had no idea how to go about it. I was afraid that my decisions might be costly. I lost count of how many times I've canceled some important meetings that could be beneficial to my company. The meetings weren't relevant to me even though I was quite aware of how detrimental it would be for my company “Should I seek a divorce immediately and end this torment that has taken over my life completely? Or should I stick to Paul's advice to take things slowly?” I asked myself while the voice echoed back to me.It breaks my heart even more that I couldn't find that one person to share my pain with and get the solution
Tony Woods POV“Are you sure you really want to do this, sir? It'll surely break your heart. I might decline the call if you want me to. You don't have to force yourself and do this," Paul asked me for clarity. He needed to be certain that I was making the right choice. It was a simple question, yet difficult to respond to. I wasn't even certain what I wanted anymore, even though I asked them for more. That one question from Paul shattered the thoughts in my head.I wanted to satisfy my curiosity quickly. At the same time, I would rather not have my heart broken.Devastated, I rested my head on the desk like a lost soup while making the deliberation within me.While trying to decide for myself, Paul's phone rang again. Without asking further questions, I knew it was Angela calling again.“Uncle, she's calling again. Do you really want me to answer the phone?” Paul asked me. My heart was beating faster. Inside, my butt was spitting fire like a dragon, as though I were on a hot
Tony Woods POV“What the hell are you doing, Susan? That wasn't the plan, and you know that. Why did you fuck deviate from what we discussed at home? Do I need to remind you of everything?” Paul berated Susan for making such a bold statement.“Oh, come on Paul. Cut me some slack! What do you mean that wasn't the plan? Have you forgotten why we came here? If anyone needs a reminder, it's definitely you because you're missing out on a lot. I didn't come this far to watch you confront your uncle. You certainly should have done that some other time,” Susan fired back at Paul.I watched them argue like kids, and it was starting to mess with my mental health. They didn't even consider that I was seated in the office.Angrily I yelled at them, “Can you all stop already? If you are here to argue like kids, you can as well leave. I didn't put my schedules on hold just to listen to your trash talks. Are we clear on that?”My yelling forced orderliness in the office as absolute stilln
Tony Woods POV“Yes, your wife, Mr. Woods. And you might want to pay attention to me to experience a longer life span. Kicking us out of your office might be detrimental to your existence.” Paul said to me. His utterances conveyed so much authority I hadn't witnessed before.I saw a different Paul.He didn't speak to me in that tone when he visited my mansion with Susan last night.I can't help but wonder what might have gotten into him.Hearing Paul speak made me more angry, and I didn't hesitate to yell at him. “Paul, one more word from you and I'll kick your ass. Haven't I warned you never to say a word?” Just like the last time, I thought yelling at Paul would make him panic and stop talking. However, I was wrong. Rather than sealing his lips for eternity, Paul went all out to confront me. His voice was so loud that it got the attention of my office assistant who showed up looking so worried. “Boss, I heard a scream from your office. I had to rush down here immediately. D
