Susan's POV
“Not while I am still here. I never asked you to excuse us. You ain't leaving until I say so. You are part of this family. If she can't speak in front of you, then the exit door is hers to use,” he mocked me despite not speaking to me directly. Ethan's Father turned out to be a stumbling block I never expected while Angela became a darling at the dying minutes. “it's fine She can stay. It's like you said, she's family,” I spoke in a cracked tone. I was forced to accept Angela to be part of the discussion. It wasn't my intention to do that. However, it was the only way I got to speak with Ethan's Father. From the little I've witnessed, he seemed to love her a lot. I am not certain if he loved Ethan's mother in such a manner. It looked as though she had jinxed him with a powerful love spell. Ethan's Father practically worshiped the ground Angela walks on. It was weird witnessing Ethan's Father acting like a toddler in love. At some point, he got me jealous of his marriage to Angela. I was this close to measuring their marriage with mine. “Now that you're seated, what are you here for? Did Ethan send you? If he did, then he's a coward. If he needed financial assistance, why didn't he come to me?” Without verifying, Ethan's Father concluded inside of him. He was so sure that the company was crashing. According to him, that's the only time Ethan reaches out to him. “It's not about the company, Uncle. The company is waxing stronger than ever before,” Paul intervened on my behalf. I was glad he was able to finally speak. That was the first time he ever said a word since we arrived at the mansion! I was starting to think that he had lost his confidence "Shut the fuck up, Paul. I wasn't talking to you. Have you lost your manners?' he blasted Paul for speaking and treated him like a child? I pitied Paul. I imagined it was me that was yelled at. No one saw that coming, including Paul, who was attacked. I couldn't Fathom the rift between them. Seeing Ethan's Father disrespect Paul like that, it dawned on me that he never acknowledged the presence of Paul. “I'm sorry, Uncle. I just thought I would speak up,” Gulping the insult with his saliva, Paul apologized. “Over to you, Suzy. Why are you here? I don't recall inviting you over,” Mr. Woods returned his gaze to me. He didn't even act like Paul's apology meant anything to him. “Ethan isn't aware that I'm here. And please, I would want it to remain like that,” I set the record straight. The reason for my explanation was to erase any negative thoughts about us in his mind. “Okay. Bring it on,” He rolled his eyes. “Maria is back.” I unleashed the bombshell. I didn't see the need to beat around the bush when it was clear that I needed help. “Maria? Who's that? Sorry, I don't recall anyone bearing such a name,” Ethan's Father became absent-minded. It's barely six years since Ethan divorced Maria and the old man can't recall a thing. I find such acts absurd. If his memory had been altered, how on earth was he able to convince Angela to be his wife? I guess that's a story for another. It's a question only he can provide. “Maria, Ethan's ex-wife relocated to another city. Remember her now?” I did a detailed explanation. “Wait a second! Maria is the same person as Naomi Jackson?” His memory was automatically restored at the mention of Naomi Jackson. It's funny how Naomi Jackson has become a household name that even Ethan's Father knows about her. “Yes, sir. She's married with kids. Ethan thinks he's the Father of triplets boys.” I added. I also explained how Ethan got arrested at an event for confronting Maria. “I was aware of Ethan's arrest,” Mr. Woods stunned us all I was left speechless. And here I was, explaining to someone who already knew the full story “It's natural for you to be stunned. When I found out about his arrest, I called the station and ordered his release,” Ethan's Father added. In less than two minutes, he has messed with my head. I hated myself even more each time I remembered how Maria tricked us into signing the restraining order document. If only I could turn back the hands of time, I wouldn't have rushed to sign the document. Stupid me! I was so desperate to see my husband come out of jail that I failed to do my assignment. Maria turned out to be the smart one this time. She capitalized on my desperation and used it against me. “This is tough to hear.” I sighed in frustration. “Please, you have to do something to stop Ethan. He still wants to go after the kids despite the restraining order. If he makes such a move, he's most likely to spend the rest of his time in jail. I wouldn't want that to happen, sir,” I pleaded with Mr. Woods. To prove how desperate I needed his intervention, I scrubbed my knees on the ground and cried my eyes out. I wasn't bothered by the presence of Angela who has chosen to become my worst enemy. “Get up, Susan. This isn't necessary. You're embarrassing yourself,” Mr. Woods urged me. I refused to stand up until he decided to help me out. Ethan and his Father might not be the best of pals, but he certainly respected his Father. “What makes you think he can talk to your husband? Are you aware that we barely speak to each other?” Angela made a shocking introduction. Hearing her speak against me was disheartening. It created this monster Inside of me that wants to tear her skin apart with my sharp claws. I wished she never spoke. She made more sense while muted.Tony Woods POV“Your wife hired me as her third eye in the company. I tried to back out, but she threatened to report me to the cops. I had no choice but to comply with her evil agenda against you. She never loved you. She married you because of your wealth. She also plots to take over the company immediately after your demise,” Sean revealed. “She never loved you,” the words ring a bell in my head. It feels like a Déjà vu. That was what Susan said when she visited my mansion with Paul.I thought she said that out of jealousy because she couldn't endure the fact I found love according to a younger woman. That was the reason I drove her out of my house. I should have paid more attention to Susan rather than kicking her out. History has repeated itself and the same thing I avoided has finally happened to me.Marcus said so much until I stopped him from talking. He was spilling more dirty secrets than I ever envisaged. I went from wanting more to wanting none. My head couldn
Tony Woods POVWith him on my side as my lawyer, we haven't lost a single legal battle. I don't see how Angela is going to escape this. “I got your text and got here as fast as I could. The tone of the text sounded pretty urgent. What do you want to discuss? Is there a problem we should be worried about?” Marcus asked me after we had exchanged pleasantries and laughed at each other's jokes. He hasn't settled down, and he's already throwing questions at me like an atomic bomb.I wanted to initiate the conversation when I heard funny movements outside my office. Instantly, I halted and leaned my ears forward to observe the sound again “Is anything the matter? Why are you acting weird?” Marcus called my attention after he noticed how silent and observant I'd been over the last couple of minutes. “Give me a second, please. I need to sort something out,” I pleaded with Marcus. Not satisfied, I sneaked to the door and carefully opened it to scan the areas thoroughly. Unfortunately,
Tony Woods POVAfter the departure of Paul and Susan, it took a while for me to regain my sanity. I didn't know where I was anymore I kept on talking to myself like I was losing my mind. I was this close to booking a therapy session to fix the damage that Angela caused in my life. It felt as though I was living the life of someone else. I had a lot in mind to do, but I had no idea how to go about it. I was afraid that my decisions might be costly. I lost count of how many times I've canceled some important meetings that could be beneficial to my company. The meetings weren't relevant to me even though I was quite aware of how detrimental it would be for my company “Should I seek a divorce immediately and end this torment that has taken over my life completely? Or should I stick to Paul's advice to take things slowly?” I asked myself while the voice echoed back to me.It breaks my heart even more that I couldn't find that one person to share my pain with and get the solution
Tony Woods POV“Are you sure you really want to do this, sir? It'll surely break your heart. I might decline the call if you want me to. You don't have to force yourself and do this," Paul asked me for clarity. He needed to be certain that I was making the right choice. It was a simple question, yet difficult to respond to. I wasn't even certain what I wanted anymore, even though I asked them for more. That one question from Paul shattered the thoughts in my head.I wanted to satisfy my curiosity quickly. At the same time, I would rather not have my heart broken.Devastated, I rested my head on the desk like a lost soup while making the deliberation within me.While trying to decide for myself, Paul's phone rang again. Without asking further questions, I knew it was Angela calling again.“Uncle, she's calling again. Do you really want me to answer the phone?” Paul asked me. My heart was beating faster. Inside, my butt was spitting fire like a dragon, as though I were on a hot
Tony Woods POV“What the hell are you doing, Susan? That wasn't the plan, and you know that. Why did you fuck deviate from what we discussed at home? Do I need to remind you of everything?” Paul berated Susan for making such a bold statement.“Oh, come on Paul. Cut me some slack! What do you mean that wasn't the plan? Have you forgotten why we came here? If anyone needs a reminder, it's definitely you because you're missing out on a lot. I didn't come this far to watch you confront your uncle. You certainly should have done that some other time,” Susan fired back at Paul.I watched them argue like kids, and it was starting to mess with my mental health. They didn't even consider that I was seated in the office.Angrily I yelled at them, “Can you all stop already? If you are here to argue like kids, you can as well leave. I didn't put my schedules on hold just to listen to your trash talks. Are we clear on that?”My yelling forced orderliness in the office as absolute stilln
Tony Woods POV“Yes, your wife, Mr. Woods. And you might want to pay attention to me to experience a longer life span. Kicking us out of your office might be detrimental to your existence.” Paul said to me. His utterances conveyed so much authority I hadn't witnessed before.I saw a different Paul.He didn't speak to me in that tone when he visited my mansion with Susan last night.I can't help but wonder what might have gotten into him.Hearing Paul speak made me more angry, and I didn't hesitate to yell at him. “Paul, one more word from you and I'll kick your ass. Haven't I warned you never to say a word?” Just like the last time, I thought yelling at Paul would make him panic and stop talking. However, I was wrong. Rather than sealing his lips for eternity, Paul went all out to confront me. His voice was so loud that it got the attention of my office assistant who showed up looking so worried. “Boss, I heard a scream from your office. I had to rush down here immediately. D
