The knock on my door made me groan, I tried to ignore it, turning to my side and pushing the pillow over my ear to block the sound, but it came again and this time, the door was pushed open.

“Riley, you need to wake up. It’s time to get ready for school.”

I was expecting my dad’s voice, or my mother’s voice, but it was the familiar voice of Carl, and my eyes shot open.

I blinked, glancing around the room and then back at him, I had completely forgot, I moved into Carl’s house yesterday and I was in a room in his house, how could I have thought it was all a dream.

I jerked up immediately, and pulled my quilt over my chest.

Stupid of me!

He blinked at my sudden movement. I followed his gaze to my hand that gripped the quilt.

I was wearing an oversize shirt so what the hell was I covering?
