CHAPTER 42
Mack was in the middle of speaking with the officers in charge of Madison's kidnapping when Cheryl told him he had a phone call. "Can you just take a message please? The officers here need to take my statement."
"Honey, you REALLY need to take this!" Cheryl took over for Mack while he answered the phone.
"Hello, this is Detective Mack Stone." He nearly choked when he heard the voice.
"Hey there Macky boy, I knew that you have been worrying about me so I am calling you to let you know that I am safe and secure, I'm with Xavier. How are you holding up? Do you have any leads on the whereabouts of Brent?" She rattled on.
"Well I am glad to hear from you and that you are okay. I'm doing alright considering that Brent has my daughter." Mack had been trying to hold his emotions together but at the sound of Sierra's voice the dam broke.

Before he could answer the phone the officer in charge had to set up a trace. Once the trace was in place he quickly answered. The only way for Cheryl to rest was to be sedated. Mack tried to sleep, but every time he closed his eyes he saw those photos of Madison. He was pacing around the house when his cell rang, he raced over and grabbed it. "Hello?""Detective Stone, this is Inspector Eddie McIntyre. I am in charge of you partner's disappearance. We have, just recently, dusted her phone and we were able to lift a couple of finger prints. One print belongs to Sierra and the other came back unknown. We ran it against Brent Cummings adn it's not a match. We havent' been able to match it to any other prints in our database. Do you have any idea who the unknown print might belong to? When Brent finally checked on Madison, he found that she was curled up in a ball apparently asleep. He went back upstairs and grabbed her something to eat and a glass of water, then he headed back downstairs. He placed the food and water near where she slept. He sat down and waited for her to wake up. After a few minutes she stirred and sat up, looking at the food, suspiciously.He chuckled. "I haven't poisoned it so you can eat it."
