Chelsea woke up. Not fully conscious, she thought she had seen Russell in a dream, so she reached out and took his hand.

She missed the warmth of his palm.

Russell could not help but clutch Chelsea's hand. He used his other hand to brush her cheek and stop on her neck. Her high temperature made him suspicious.

He asked warily, "Why are you burning? Did you take some kind of pills? I'm warning you. Don't you ever think about getting pregnant using these means!"

His words made Chelsea sober up at once.

This was how her husband was. Instead of worrying about whether she was sick, he suspected that this was some side effect of pills to get pregnant.

Chelsea knew that Russell had misunderstood her, but she did not want to tell him that she was simply sick.

She would not beg for Russell's attention.

She acted nonchalantly. "Mr. Murillo, if you did your part well, I won't have to take any additional measures at all."

Russell said sarcastically, "Why do you want kids anyway? Don't tell me it's because you love me too much."

Chelsea couldn't tell whether it was her heart or her head that hurt more. Anyway, she refused to show the white feather. With a smile, she said, "You seem very self-aware. Then you should know why Wendi Murdoch wanted to have Rupert Murdoch's baby even with IVF."

Russell looked at her with disgust and said, "Even if you give birth to a child, I won't give you a penny more. Stop wasting your time."

Chelsea asked in despair, "Russell, why do you hate me so much?"

Russell asked coldly, "Is that important to you?"

He was about to leave the bedroom when Chelsea's voice sounded behind him.

She looked at him and said firmly, "I want a divorce!"

"Fine!"

Russell left the bedroom without turning back.

The next day, Russell walked out of the study. After taking a shower, he came to the living room, looked at the empty dining table, and frowned.

Without a word, he turned on his laptop and began to check his emails from work.

Time passed. The bedroom door was still shut and Chelsea never came out.

Russell was getting more and more agitated.

He and Chelsea fought a lot after they got married, but no matter how hard they argued the day before, she would still make breakfast for him the next day.

Today was the only exception.

Russell used up his patience. He walked to the bedroom door and pushed it open.

To his surprise, the room was empty.

He wondered, 'Where did she go?'

Russell thought for a moment and walked to the wardrobe. Yet Chelsea wasn't hiding in it as he suspected.

A piece of paper fell from the wardrobe.

Russell caught it and saw a sentence written on it.

"Breakfast is in the fridge."

'I knew it. She just can't help loving me,' he thought. He could not help but raise the corners of his mouth slightly, and his mood was getting better.

He walked back to the living room and opened the fridge.

But there was no breakfast in the fridge, only a document.

He reached for the papers and looked through them as his face turned gloomier.

It was divorce papers.

When he saw the line about the reasons for the divorce, his face turned even more sullen.

She put down "lack of duration" as her reason for divorcing him.

Just as Russell was about to tear up the papers, his phone rang. He picked up the phone and heard Chelsea's voice.

"Good morning, Mr. Murillo. Did you enjoy the breakfast?"

Chelsea sounded brisk and she was obviously in a good mood.

"What do you mean by 'lack of duration'?" Russell gritted his teeth and asked.

"I know. I get it. It's kind of embarrassing for you. Well, since I am filing for divorce, I must tell the truth. Don't you think?" Chelsea said nonchalantly.

"Really? How long will it take to satisfy you?" Russell's voice was filled with anger.

"Not two minutes anyway."

"Chelsea!"

Russell roared, but before he could finish, Chelsea had already hung up the phone.

Standing in front of the largest mall in Lorwick, Chelsea felt great watching the traffic.

Unfortunately, her good mood did not last long.

She had planned to go on a shopping spree at the mall. However, she had just walked into a high-end café when she accidentally bumped into a coffee mug on the display shelf at the door.

It fell to the ground and shattered into pieces.

A waiter immediately walked over to see if Chelsea was hurt, and then he said kindly, "Ma'am, I'm afraid you have to pay for it."

"Sure thing," Chelsea said as she took out her credit card.

The waiter took the card and soon returned. He said apologetically, "Sorry, Ma'am, but your card is declined."

Chelsea took a deep breath. She knew at once that Russell had everything to do with it.

"Ma'am? Do you have another card?" the waiter looked at Chelsea and asked.

Chelsea kept her composure and then flicked her wavy blonde hair from her shoulders.

A charming smile tugged at her lips.

"Do you have a pen and paper?" she asked.

The tall waiter, who had never seen such a beautiful woman before, was stunned for a second. Then he came back to his senses and immediately brought Chelsea a pen and paper.

Chelsea bit off the pen cap, lowered her head slightly, and quickly wrote down a phone number.

Then she gave it to the waiter.

She glanced at his name tag.

"I don't have any other cards, but I'm sure you can handle this for me, right, Vincent?"

The waiter felt the piece of paper with her number on it burning in his hand.

He nodded subconsciously.

Chelsea then flashed him a charming smile and walked away.

She didn't put down her number. The number belonged to Russell.

Perhaps because yesterday was Valentine’s Day, most people chose to get their certificates then, so there weren’t many people registering today at the County Clerk Office. They didn’t have to wait long before it was their turn. When it came time for the photo, there was an issue. Russell wore a black shirt, and Chelsea wore a white dress. In the photo, they looked like a pair of grim reapers.Chelsea immediately protested, “No, it’s too ugly. I want to go home and change.”Russell’s eyelid twitched, and he quickly coaxed, “By the time you change and come back, they’ll be off work. Let’s take the photo now, and we can change it later.”Chelsea turned to ask the staff, “Can we change the photo on the marriage certificate later?”“Of course not. Once it’s stamped, it’s permanent,” the staff replied, pushing the documents over. “You’

**One Year Later**The morning sun was bright as Chelsea opened her eyes. Her slightest movement woke the person next to her. She looked up, meeting his eyes, and realized she was clinging to him like an octopus.Russell’s eyes went from sleepy to alert. He glanced down at Chelsea’s hand resting on his chest and asked, “Does it feel good?”Chelsea quickly pulled her hand back, frowning, “What are you doing in my bed?”Russell sat up, pausing at her question. “Take a good look at whose blanket this is.”Chelsea checked and fell silent. She quietly slipped out of Russell’s blanket and pulled her own over herself.“I used to sleep very still,” Chelsea tried to explain. “It must be because I’m pregnant. The baby must be affecting me.”Russell got out of bed, took off his pajamas, and started putting on a shirt. While buttoning it up, he said, “It&rsq

Russell's body stiffened, doubting whether he had heard correctly. He held his breath and asked, "What did you just say?"Chelsea wasn't shilly-shally. She couldn't deny her feelings for Russell. She had seen all the efforts he had made to win back their relationship. She couldn't keep him hanging in uncertainty forever—no good relationship could endure that. Since they had come this far, it was time to push forward. She turned her head and said, "Isn't trial marriage popular these days? Let's have a trial relationship. I'll give you a probationary period as a boyfriend. If you do well, I'll make it official. If you don't..."Russell immediately interrupted her, "There’s no such possibility. I’ll definitely get a perfect score."Chelsea suppressed a laugh, "Don't make promises too early. I haven't even told you my requirements yet."Russell held her hand, looking attentive, "Go ahead.""I only have one requirement: during the probation period, you can't tell anyone about our relations

The next morning, Chelsea woke up groggily. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the clock on the opposite wall—8:30 AM.Startled, she tried to sit up quickly, but just as her back lifted less than ten centimeters off the bed, she fell back down. There was an arm draped across her waist. Chelsea paused, then slowly followed the arm up with her gaze.Russell was lying beside her, eyes closed, not wearing a stitch of clothing. Her head was resting on his left arm, and his right arm was draped across her waist. From this angle, Chelsea could see the ambiguous scratch marks and hickeys on his body...Her mind uncontrollably replayed some strange scenes from last night, and her ears turned bright red.She gently moved Russell’s hand off her waist, planning to slip away unnoticed. But as soon as she moved his hand from her waist, the hand on her shoulder pulled her back into his embrace. With a husky morning voice, he asked softly in her ear, "Where are you going?"Her back pressed again

A single sentence made Russell's boiling blood turn cold.He gritted his teeth and said, "Do you know what you're saying?"Chelsea responded with a simple "Mm."Russell angrily bit her lip, "How dare you just say 'Mm'!"Chelsea winced in pain, frowning, "Don't you men like women who don't need you to take responsibility?"Russell paused, "Who told you men like that?"Unable to control herself, Chelsea reached out to touch him, but Russell held her hand down and guided her softly, "Tell me, and I'll let you touch me."Upon hearing this, Chelsea immediately confessed."Online, in the forums.""What did they say?" Russell unbuttoned one button, continuing to "coax," "Be clear, I'll unbutton more if you explain."Chelsea, already lacking strong willpower, was tortured by the drug's effect, and Russell, the walking antidote, was dangling right in front of her, completely destroying her rationality. She stammered out the whole story. She didn't mention the infertility issue, but how could s

Chelsea's eyelashes trembled. She wondered if she was hallucinating due to the drugs. How else could she be hearing Russell's voice?"Chelsy," the voice came closer, “Chelsea, open your eyes and look, it's me, no one else."Chelsea slowly opened her eyes, her vision shifting from blurry to clear. It was really Russell. The tension drained from her body, and she burst into tears. She hugged Russell tightly, then began to hit and kick him while crying and cursing, "You bastard, you scared me to death!"Russell, knowing he was in the wrong, didn't dare to talk back. No matter how much she resisted, he held her tightly, whispering, "I'm sorry, it was just a joke, all fake. Please, stop crying."Chelsea was genuinely terrified. From being drugged and kidnapped in the car to waking up to the realization that she was drugged, the constant fear had torn at her nerves. There was even a moment when she considered perishing together with her assailant. When her sobs finally subsided to faint sni
