Chapter 9

It was awkward seeing the way Maria was fiddling with her fingers. She felt like she should start a conversation but the words wouldn't come. She wants to talk to Caleb but the last thing she wanted was to sound like an idiot.

Suddenly the sound of glass shattering disrupted her attention. They all looked to the source of the noise and saw one of the boys from the party break one of his beer bottles, cursing loudly at himself for losing control. Everyone around the table erupted in laughter as one of the girls grabbed his shoulders and threw herself on him. Everyone else joined in with their laughs which caused a raucous sound in the entire room.

Selena looked at Maria and sighed, "too much for coming out tonight," she muttered and stood up, "I might need to use the restroom to check myself, you know, my makeup and all that."

Maria nodded when she realized there is more to using the bathroom, she understood clearly what Selena meant.
