#Chapter8

JASON POV

"If you assholes don't come on, I'm not going." I yelled up the stairs as I flopped down onto the couch.

"Oh relax, we're ready." Aaron assured as he ran down the steps.

He slapped my shoulder. I let out a threatening growl which informed him I was not up for the dumb shit tonight.

Aaron was the beta of my pack, the Black Water tribe and the mate of Keira, my sister. However, I reminded him I would not hesitate to rip his throat out.

"Why so tense Jason? Maybe a little action tonight from one of the lovely ladies at the club will ease some stress." Aaron always assumed a woman would satisfy me after a bad day.

Especially since I did not have my mate.

"From the dumb ass day we had in those meetings, I will need it." I agreed.

After long hours in careless meetings, the guys thought a night out would do us justice.

Well, all the un-mated wolves thought.

"Jason always get action, girls can't stay away from him." Brent entered the room.

Brent was one of my top warrior wolves, along with his brother AJ.

"Whatever. Are you dicks ready or not?" I sighed in annoyance.

"Yeah, let’s go." Brent said.

*********

"So what happened in the meeting anyway?" Brent questioned from the back seat of the SUV.

"Well lately we have been picking up scents of vampires in the area."

"What? Have they killed anyone?"

"No, not yet. We are not sure what they are doing here or if they're planning anything. We have warned other pack members in the area to stay on high alert." I assured him.

"Blood suckers." Brent hissed.

*********

Pulling into the parking lot, I frowned. Oh how I hated these clubs sometimes. It was the same bulshit every time we came here. One of my pack members get into an altercation with a guy because he flirts with his girlfriend, and I always must play chaperone by preventing them from beating a human to death.

We exited the car. Enjoying the last few moments of fresh air, I took my time as I walked to the front entrance. We knocked on the red door.

"Who is it?" A voice yelled from the other side of the door.

"Open the damn door Jake!" Aaron yelled out. I could see his anger rising quickly.

"What's the password?"

"Is the password open the fucking door or I rip your fucking throat out?" Aaron hissed out.

After a momentary pause, Jake opened the door.

"Ass hole." Aaron shoved passed him.

Jake smiled. He always find a way to get under his cousin’s skin.

"Nice job." I laughed.

They always come to a point of ripping each other to shreds. I promised their mothers that I would not allow it. We walked into the club. Sickened by the smell of sweat, cheap perfume, and cologne, I cursed myself for even coming here.

The club was live tonight. There was a mix of werewolves and humans scattered across the dance floor. Terrible mixture.

Ignoring the few ladies who tried to give me their attention, I made my way to the bar counter. With this mixture, I would need a drink.

"What can I get you, Alpha?" The bartender leaned against the bar, her cleavage popping from the top of her thin blouse.

She was a werewolf. She also was no good. Another woman who desired me for my title.

"Four shots of patron." I demanded.

She poured the liquor into four clear shot glasses before she slid them to me. I threw them back. The first shot burned on the way down. By the last, it was like water to me.

"Keep them coming." I demanded.

"Long day?" She cleared the spot in front of me for my next round.

I had to admit, she was pretty.

"Yea but since you're here, I feel better." I flirted back. I enjoyed feeding into it.

Hey, why not take her home for the night.

"So, what's your name?"

"Jocelyn." Her face reddened as she blushed.

"Nice to meet you J"

What’s that?

"What's that smell?" I whispered.

"Huh?" Her face twisted up in confusion, she looked at me.

"Nothing."

Pushing myself from the bar, I inhaled the air around me. Something smelled off, yet very enticing. It smelled sweet and light but still overpowered every other scent in here. I don’t know why, but it had a leash on me.

I looked around the club, determined to find the scent's owner.

Found it.

Her....

Could this be…

Oh.

She's human?

I could feel the monster in my surfacing, howling out the word ‘mate’ repeatedly.

All alone, she dances to the rhythm of the music. Carefree and careless of the lingering eyes, she continued to move as if no one watching. Her beautiful hips swaying, I watched her curvaceous body drag me in.

I might seem creepy for looking at her like this, but I just could not look away from her.

She looked amazing, she smelled good, I could only imagine what she tasted like. My wolf howling at the thought of that, my wolf fought to take control of me.

Finally, her eyes found mine. I could only smile as I enjoyed the show. She stared at me for a moment before someone else caught her attention.

Brent!

He approached her.

No.

My hands trembling and my anger boiling, I tried to keep my wolf contained.

Panting almost, I let out a low growl. It caught the nearby wolves attention because they turned to look at me.

Ignore him. I begged her to shove him away from her. Tell him to move. Leaning forward, he closed the gap between them.

MINE the animal in me lashed out.

I was losing the battle. I was losing control.

My wolf taking control of me, he shoved passed everyone. Careless about who we bumped into, we strived to break up this close encounter between my mate and Brent.

"Mine.”

"Alpha what hell are you doing?" He struggled to fight me off.

"Mine." I ignored his attempts to fight me.

"Jason what are you talking-" He said before he paused. "Dude, I'm sorry, I didn't know."

My wolf was in full control. Like a stringed puppet, I was left to follow his command. He was angry. He was furious. He has found what he could call his. So seeing someone that belonged to him being touched by another got the best of him.

"Jason, stop, we have to go." I could hear the guys urging me to let go. Begging me to calm down as I fought for control.

All I could do was repeat the same word once again.

"Okay, we get that, but she's gone. You hear me?" Aaron repeated to me.

Realizing my foolish behavior, the animal released the strings from me. He calmed down, allowing me to take control. Looking around, I only could confirm his statement. She was gone. She was no longer here.

"Time to go." My head spun.

Leaving the club in a hurry, he hopped back into the SUV and drove back to the house.
