*Draven POV*
I have been summoned home for an emergency pack meeting with the elders. When I spoke to Elder Matthews, he said his concern about my father’s wellbeing had reached a higher rate of concern, and it was urgent that the elder panel spoke with me. So, this weekend, I’m going home to take care of this.
“I won’t be in school on Friday, so you don’t have to come and help with anything. Just enjoy your free period in the library or somewhere on the grounds you like to hang out. I’ll let security know not to bother you,” I told Sage. She looked disappointed, and I wondered if she was starting to catch on to what we were to one another. Her birthday was in just a week's time, so her wolf should be starting to wake up inside her.
“Oh, ok. Taking a little vaca are you?” she teased. I thought it was cute that she was trying to get information out of me without directly asking.
“No, nothing like that. I wait for school breaks for that sort of thing. I told you this was my last year as headmaster. I’m taking over the Alpha position from my dad. The elders are requesting a meeting, so I have to go and attend that. Don’t worry, I’ll be back bright and early on Sunday,” I said and shot her a wink.
I saw her face turn pink and she went back to entering files into our school data system. It was something I really should have been doing myself since it was student information, but if she was going to be my Luna, she would have access to all of this information anyway.
“Draven! How dare you…” Candy yelled as she burst through my door without knocking. Only stopping when she noticed Sage sitting at my desk.
“What is it, Candy?” I asked without even looking up from the paperwork I was reading.
She cocked her hip and crossed her arm over her chest, waiting for me to tell Sage to leave. That wasn’t going to happen.
“Either speak, or get out. Miss Thorne and I are trying to get some work done,” I stated, hoping she would leave.
“Fine! How dare you go to my grandfather about me. I’m not a child or one of your students. What I do is my own business,” she whined.
I stared at her for a brief moment before getting up and moving towards the door. I stood in front of her, and bent down until our eyes met.
“If you don’t want to be treated like a child, then stop acting like a spoiled brat. Hear me very clearly when I say if you hurt another student, or encourage other students to belittle or hurt a fellow student again, I will fire you. You won’t just be demoted to kitchen duty for meals,” I said without emotion.
I saw that she had glanced towards Sage, who just kept working. As soon as her mouth opened again to say something, I shook my head and pointed towards the door. I didn’t want to hear anything else from her.
Just as I was about to apologize to Sage, the bell rang, and she started to gather her things. I didn’t want her to leave yet, but I knew she had lunch and then her Advanced Botany class next. It was one of her favorites.
“Sage, would you mind coming to see me after your classes are over. I need to speak to you about something important,” I asked. She nodded, and left me standing in my office alone.
Five more days until I can finally claim her. I just hope she doesn’t reject me.
I walked out of my office, and started making my way through the halls to watch the students as they rushed from one class to another. That’s when I heard a bunch of screaming, and I started to rush towards the direction it was coming from.
“You little bitch! You have done nothing but cause me trouble since you got here. You will pay for costing me my position,” Candy screamed as she grabbed Sage by the hair and flung her down the hallway, causing her to land hard on the tiled floor.
Candy then jumped on top of her and began to punch her over and over. Not one student stood up for Sage and tried to stop it.
“You think you’re so special and have Draven wrapped around your little finger. I have news for you bitch, you’re not. You are just the flavor of the moment. He will move on from you soon enough,” she sneered and then spit in Sage’s face. That was the final straw for me.
“ENOUGH! All students to either your lunch period or your next class, NOW!” I bellowed, and the students scattered. When Candy heard my voice, she smirked at me and then punched Sagae once more.
I jerked her up by her arm, and handed her off to Gavin. “Take her to my office, do not let her leave. We are going to need security, and the pack police. She will be doing some time for assault on a minor,” I said as I went to Sage.
“Sage?” I whispered, and got no response. She was fully unconscious. Shit.
I picked her up and carried her to the infirmary to be checked out. As I walked down the hallway with her in my arms, I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to leave her here on her own. Not with people like Remi around who would carry out Candy’s dirty work if she couldn’t do it herself.
Nurse Margie cleaned up the blood on her face, and put an ice pack on her head. She had gotten a very large knot on her head when her head hit the floor after Candy threw her. Margie said that could be the reason she was unconscious.
I asked her to stay with her, and if she woke up while I was gone to call me immediately. I needed to deal with Candy before she tore my office apart.
*Draven POV*I don’t know if it was the right thing to do in inviting her to go with me, but it felt like it was. If she accepted, I knew I had to get her aunt’s permission to take her from school grounds, and that was going to be a task in itself. After I asked, and even mentioned throwing her a birthday party, her face dropped. I couldn’t tell if she was unhappy about me asking, or if she thought something else.“Did I say something wrong?” I asked. She smiled softly and shook her head. She took a drink of her soda, and then told me how she was feeling.“No, no, you didn’t say anything wrong at all. It’s just, it’s just I know Katherine will say no. Anything to keep me from being happy, she will do it. I can’t wait until I’m from under her control,” she replied.I had a feeling it was either how it would appear to the other students, or the aunt. The aunt it is.“Let me take care of your aunt. I will just tell her that since you have signed up as my assistant to earn extra credits,
*Sage POV*“Wake up little dove,” a voice called out to me. Who did this voice belong to? I was about to find out.“Who said that?” I asked. My eyes were closed, but I could hear things going on in whatever room I was in. However, it didn’t feel like the voice was coming from the room itself.“Don’t be afraid. I am a part of you that you have been expecting. I am your wolf, Storm. I am with you now, and will be with you always. You need to wake up, there are people worried about you. One person in particular. Stay close to him. He will protect you always,” she said.Him? Who could she be talking about? I haven’t really interacted with many of the boys since coming to ShadowFen, and the only two that I have been around a lot were Draven and Gavin. Could it be one of them?I began to open my eyes, and once they began to focus, I winced at the bright lights.Once I was able to focus,my eyes met the most gorgeous amber colored eyes. The ones I have looked forward to seeing every day since

*Sage POV*The next several classes went pretty smoothly. That was until some girls saw Headmaster Draven speaking to me in the hallway. He had only stopped me to give me a change of location to help him, and apparently they overheard our conversation. “Moving kind of fast there aren’t you, Thorne? Finally in a school with boys, and you just can’t wait to get in one of their pants? Kind of bold of you to go for the headmaster, he is kind of hot though. Can’t say I blame you,” Remi taunted as she nearly knocked me over by nudging me with her shoulder.Remi was one of the girls transferred with me from Hardwick, and she bullied me pretty fiercely there, and it seems that it’s going to carry over to ShadowFen or so she thinks.“Remi, get a life. I’m not trying to get into the headmaster’s pants. No matter how hot he is. I’m not like you. I am waiting for my mate, not just jumping in bed with anyone who’s interested. So, back off, or I’ll put you on your ass again,” I threatened. The l
*Sage POV*Last night I had the strangest dream. I don’t know if it was because I was in a strange place, or if I was just completely exhausted from the day's events. I was wandering the school grounds trying to get familiar with the place, and I came face to face with the most gorgeous silver wolf I had ever seen. No matter how close I came to him, he would back away. I could tell he wasn’t afraid of me, but it was like he was keeping his distance for a reason. I sat in the grass, and he sat with me. And I started to talk to him like he was someone I had known all my life. I poured my heart out to the silver wolf, and released emotions I had been holding in for so long. “I shouldn’t be burdening you with my sadness. A beautiful creature such as yourself should be with others who don’t have such anguish living inside them. Thank you for listening though, it’s been a long time since I felt I could release,” I half smiled. The silver wolf, who had kept his distance this whole time,
Dahlia POV*When Draven called me, I was surprised that it wasn’t just to talk. He needed advice this time, and he sounded very conflicted about something.Draven and I are as thick as thieves, and have been since we were small. We are only thirteen months apart, so sometimes it feels as if we are more like twins. “Dahl, I’m in some shit. I need someone to tell me that everything will be alright,” he said as soon as I answered the phone. Instantly confused, I asked him to elaborate. However, I was not expecting him to tell me that his fated mate just showed up at the academy. “My fated mate is from Hardwick. She is three weeks away from turning eighteen, so she is clueless. I feel like I’m making an ass of myself around her, and behaving like a creeper. What do I do about it? I can’t stay away from her, and she already thinks I’m strange,” he explained. I giggled to myself, and shook my head. I asked him how his wolf was reacting, and he said that Daxton kept urging him to go to h
