*Sage POV*

The next several classes went pretty smoothly. That was until some girls saw Headmaster Draven speaking to me in the hallway.

He had only stopped me to give me a change of location to help him, and apparently they overheard our conversation.

“Moving kind of fast there aren’t you, Thorne? Finally in a school with boys, and you just can’t wait to get in one of their pants? Kind of bold of you to go for the headmaster, he is kind of hot though. Can’t say I blame you,” Remi taunted as she nearly knocked me over by nudging me with her shoulder.

Remi was one of the girls transferred with me from Hardwick, and she bullied me pretty fiercely there, and it seems that it’s going to carry over to ShadowFen or so she thinks.

“Remi, get a life. I’m not trying to get into the headmaster’s pants. No matter how hot he is. I’m not like you. I am waiting for my mate, not just jumping in bed with anyone who’s interested. So, back off, or I’ll put you on your ass again,” I threatened.

The look on her face said that she was remembering our last confrontation. The confrontation that happened after she cut my hair while I was sleeping.

I only knew it was her because she had it strapped to her bag like a war trophy. When I turned her in, the headmistress simply laughed and said that if I can’t deal with my own petty nonsense, that she didn’t have time to deal with it either. So, I took things into my own hands.

I waited until lunch time, and while she was sitting with her group of mean girls, I jerked her by the ponytail, and pulled her to the ground. I sat on top of her and pinned her arms to the ground with my knees. I pulled her ponytail up high, and cut her hair where the hair tie met her head.

I then held her ponytail above my head and released a war cry like I had just won first prize. She had her trophy, and now I had mine. Then, for good measure, I punched her in the nose, breaking it.

I gladly took my in school suspension and community service duties for that fight. As far as Remi, she got community service duty as well for cutting my hair. Since then, she might get mouthy, but she hasn’t touched me since, until now.

I guess the commotion had gotten loud, and we had drawn a crowd. Remi’s friends tried to encourage her to hit me, but I could see the fear in her eyes. She wanted no part of it, and just when it seemed like she was going to do what they wanted her to, Draven showed back up.

“What’s going on here?” he bellowed, glancing between the two of us. Neither of us were ready to snitch on the other one.

“I asked a question, and one of you best start speaking. I have no problem submitting punishment for failure to obey a member of staff,” he said.

It was Remi who broke first, and every word she said was a lie.

“Sage shoulder checked me when I was walking down the hallway. I wasn’t even doing anything to her. I didn’t even speak. She’s crazy, Mr. Douglas. She used to harass me all the time at Hardwick. She even broke my nose one time,” Remi whined, and even tried to force tears.

I snickered to myself, and that earned me a glare from Draven. He then sent Remi on her way, making sure to tell her to stay away from me. He then sent me to his office for “a little chat”.

Once inside his office, he had me sit in the chair I was in before. He then asked for my side of things, and since Remi had already snitched with a lie, I had no problems telling him the truth.

“I hope you didn’t believe her bullshit. Remi is the ultimate mean girl, and her little group of assholes, and I have just gotten tired of taking it. What she told you wasn’t true, and it was in fact her who shoulder checked me while taunting me stating I was trying to fuck you,” I explained.

He sat there staring at me in amusement, and then shook his head.

“I will give you one thing Miss Thorne, you are bluntly honest. I knew she was lying, because I saw and heard what happened. She didn’t give me much time to walk away before she started on you. Listen, don’t let girls like Remi get to you. They are jealous that they aren’t getting the attention they desperately crave. She thinks I’m blind to her advances, but I have told her personally that I am off the table. I know I’m not much older than you guys, but that doesn’t mean that I’m fair game. She needs to understand that,” he replied.

For some reason the way he explained that he was off limits made me sad. I don’t know why, but I am very drawn to him, and not just in a friendly teacher and student kind of way.

“I’m sorry that you are dealing with this crap. I thought all of this would be left at Hardwick. Wishful thinking I guess,” I said.

He moved around his desk and stood in front of me. He leaned against his desk and crossed his arms over his chest. My heart began to race, and his woodsy scent filled my nostrils.

“You have no need to apologize. Just do as I asked her to do, and stay away from one another as much as possible. I know it’s hard when you have classes together, but do your best. You are free to go, and I’ll see you in the archive room in about an hour,” he said, and dismissed me from his office.

As I walked out the door into the hallway, I observed my surroundings. I was already late for my current class, so I decided to skip it and go back to my room to calm down.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to deal with how I am feeling. I should not be having these feelings for my headmaster.

*Draven POV*When our car finally pulled out of the pack, I was alright with leaving things how they were. Tristan and I would be back in two weeks, and Sage would join us that weekend for Diego’s swearing in. “Do you think Henry is going to give Diego problems?” Sage asked. I shook my head, and I was being honest. “No, not at all. You saw them at lunch. They were acting like best friends by the end of it all. I think Diego might be just what he needs. You heard what he said, he just wants a true friend. He hadn’t had anyone truly care for him for just being who he is since his parents died. I think Diego has the heart to help that guy, and I hope it works,” I replied. I was honest with my answer, but I had a question for her, and I had to brace myself for her answer.“I do have a question for you though, babe. Was he one of the guys in the group that tried to, you know?” I asked. She quickly shook her head. “No. Not at all. I don’t think I have ever seen Henry with a girl, ever.

*Diego POV*When I was summoned to Sage and Draven’s place, I wasn’t expecting to see Henry on their floor, passed out and hands zip tied. “Sage, what is going on here? Why is Henry on your floor?” I asked. She and Draven explained how Henry had broken into their home, and attacked Sage. Now, they needed me to help figure out what to do with him.“I don’t want him punished. He’s scared. He is being kicked out of his home, and everyone who ever cared about him is gone. He just needs someone to care about him, Diego. He hasn’t been right since his parents died. He thinks that Roland and Regent actually gave a shit about him. He doesn’t understand that they were using him,” Sage explained.I had always liked Henry. He is an amazing warrior, and Sage was right. A very misled young man. Something in me wanted to give him a chance and help him. However, I was very worried about him continuing with the ways Roland taught him.“If he’s willing, I’ll let him stay with me at the pack house. He

*Draven POV*I had planned on being back to the house a lot sooner than this. I took Tristan, Dahlia, Katherine and two warriors to the hotel, then the airport. He got a notification that their plane would be delayed by two hours, so he talked me into going to breakfast. I knew if Sage woke up she would be worried about where I was. I had fallen asleep without letting her know I had agreed to go. “Send her a text. That way she won’t worry,” Dahlia said. I laughed and told her that I would if I had remembered to bring my phone. She pulled out her phone and sent Sage a text. At least she wouldn’t be as upset, but I still hated leaving her alone there. She struggled just driving through the place. She probably would until things began to change.“Do you think it’s a good idea to keep Katherine out there with the warriors? She is a sneaky old broad,” I asked. Tristan laughed and said that they had permission to kill her if she got out of hand. I knew he was joking, but also knew that t

*Sage POV*After dinner last night, we all met back at the house to finish our discussion. It was good to spend time with my uncles, aunt and Diego just catching up. I found out a lot about what happened after my supposed death, including things about Katherine that I was unaware of. Uncle Axel told me the reason that Katherine was so anti children, and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “You know, when you were just a baby, maybe a year old, Katherine had a baby. His name was Dalton, and she was forced to give him up for adoption. Your grandparents basically had caught her neglecting him, and she enjoyed hurting him. It was sick. Your grandfather told her that she would put him up for adoption willingly, or he would make sure that she would never see him again. No matter what he had to do to make it happen. So, she gave him up. That boy was adopted by a loving family that doesn’t live too far from me. I have watched him grow up, and is a pretty smart kid,” he explained. I had

*Axel POV*After getting over the shock of seeing my niece, we sat down to a wonderful dinner. I hadn’t had this place in forever, and forgot just how amazing it really was. When the king started to explain the plan for Mystic Shadows, I wasn’t impressed. What he described was something he should have stepped in and done long ago. “Before we make any kind of decision, I need to ask you something. It may come off slightly rude, and I apologize ahead of time. However, why are you just now doing something about everything when it’s been ridiculously terrifying for so long now? There have been many of us calling out for aid and rescue from the Darlings since Sage was a little girl, but aid never came,” I said. What I said had struck a cord with him, but not in a negative way. His explanation was solid, and it was something I’m sure none of us in the pack knew. Roland had made it seem as if the kingdom didn’t give a shit about us.“Truthfully, Mr. Thorne, up until a few weeks ago, I didn

*Diego POV*Sage called and asked what restaurant we wanted to meet at. We had changed our minds a million times, so I decided to ask dad and Georgio. They decided on Sage Creek Grill, and on the drive over, my dad said something that concerned me.“I can’t wait to see her, but I don’t think I will get too close to her this time. It nearly killed me the last time,” he said softly. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Before, he was always so hellbent on never letting her go again if we had ever been able to see her. Now, he wasn’t sure. I had to find out the root of this thought process.“Please tell me you’re joking. If you pull away from her now, it will destroy all of us. She is so excited to see all of you again, and to have some kind of normalcy with the family who loves her. She didn’t ask for any of this, so please don’t act like a jerk and pull away,” I told him. I struck a cord with him. When he sat up straight, and cleared his throat, I almost thought our conversation w
