Chapter 4

Gabriela opened her eyes and screamed. Abey elbowed him in the stomach. He released her, Abey grabbed Gabriela and ran to the car.

“Get in!” she growled, seeing Dremis walking towards them.

Abey and Gabriela sped away, heading east as the text message said. She was shaking badly. She wanted to pull over and faint. “What was that?” Gabriela said glancing at the back of the car. “Was, was that Dremis?”

Abey glanced in the rear-view mirror. “Yeah, and he wants to kill you, or well I think he wants to kill you,” she said glancing at her best friend. “Although he said that he wanted to take you back to the prison?”

“Weird, I don’t know. Where are we going? We're in danger, aren’t we?” she complained tucking her short brown hair behind her ears.

“Yeah, I think so, someone told me to go East. I'm heading that way, something strange is happening, it's hard to explain.” Abey complained.

“What happened at the Tribe? I feel like you're hiding something?” Gabriela asked.

“Yeah, my Grandfather was killed because I told him about the 'hooded' and Dremis. Dremis killed him when I was in the meditation the Chief had me in.” she said gripping the steering wheel hard.

“Sorry,” she said lowering her head. “What are we going to do, you know Dremis and his friends are going to find us.”

“I don’t know, my Grandfather told me to go East, I would find my Totem and my destiny. So maybe we will run into my Totem.” Abey said.

“I hope you're right. I don’t want to die over something that I know nothing about,” she complained. She knew it bothered Abey that this could have been just her fault. But she dreams about the same man, taking her best friend away from her. And him asking her to join him in the darkness just to see Abey again. She wanted to go, but something told her that it was a trick and that Abey wasn’t there.

Abey looked over at her best friend, she could see Gabriela battling her thoughts, “Look I know you didn’t want to be involved in this, and I'm not sure why you are. Dremis I think is using you to get to me.” “Great, so how do we kill him then?” she said looking at Abey. “We don’t know anything more than healing, how the heck are we going to kill a demon.”

“Calm down, I have a feeling we're going to get some guidance or some type of help in all of this. Why would they leave us in the open without help? If we're good then the world is doomed, if we're bad I guess they are safe.” she tried to joke around with the idea, but knots formed in her stomach.

Finally stopping in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Abey was exhausted, Gabriela seemed rested but bored. “Hey, I'm going to catch a few hours, play nice, and don't talk to anyone crazy,” Abey said before laying down in bed.

“I don’t plan on leaving the room. I'm scared they are right outside our room.”

“I have a feeling that we're safe now,” Abey said dozing off to sleep.

"Abey, Abey.” someone whispered in her ear. Opening her eyes, the room was dark.                  Gabriela was sleeping next to her. Abey slowly got up, looking out the window she didn’t see anyone. She slowly opened the door, glancing back at her best friend. Abey scanned the parking lot, someone was nearby she could feel his presence. “Abey.” echoed across the parking lot. “Who's there!” she growled, closing the door behind her.

Gabriela opened her eyes, she glanced around Abey was standing near the window. Rubbing her eyes, she grabbed her robe and quickly opened the door. “What are you doing outside.”

Abey spotted a man near the end of the parking lot. “Look,” she said pointing at him. Gabriela watched the man, he backed up.

“Follow.” echoed through the parking lot.

“Should we follow him?” Gabriela asked.

Abey watched the man disappear around a corner, she looked over at Gabriela. “So, you heard that too?” “What 'follow'?” she snapped, walking back into the room to grab her daggers.

Abey followed her into the room. “Wait you packed weapons? What's going?” she said putting her hands on her hips.

“I've been having dreams too, Abey, I was told always be prepared, demons are everywhere,” she said walking past her. “Let's go see what this punk wants, and if we have to, I'll kill him.” she snapped her head forward and marched out the door. Abey followed closely, she'd put her Grandfather's necklace on when they got to the hotel. The moonlight bounced off the crystal. “What are you going to do if it's a trap?” Abey questioned.

“I figured you're the stronger one since your Native American, you could get us out of this bad situation,” she said shrugging her shoulders.

“I watched my Grandfather die because I couldn’t defend myself, and now you're wanting to go after some guy in the middle of the night?” Abey questioned. “Let's just go East like we're supposed to.”

The girls headed back to their hotel room. Tonight, they would remain safe.

“So, what now?” Gabriela said laying her daggers down near the door. “I mean that man in the parking lot, what if he is one of Dremis'?”

“I don’t know, I haven’t thought that far ahead, this is way bigger than we thought it would be. I just hope that everything that has happened isn't going to continue to happen.” Abey complained, sitting down on the bed. “Look I know Dremis wants you for some reason, maybe to keep me company or whatever, but we can't let him get either one of us. If we talk about this, there will be more death.”

“What if one of us dies, then what?” Gabriela said jumping on the bed. “I doubt we can die if we are important. Dremis said he wanted us together, so I don’t think he will kill us, he might try and hurt us but that is about it,” she said shrugging her shoulders.

Abey wasn't sure about anything. She had to keep the trio together, if she fails Gabriela doesn't understand listening to herself to find the answers.

“Yeah, but what if one of the good guys wants us dead?” she questioned, Gabriela felt like the girls were going to die in this. She didn’t want to see the end of the world, the dreams of wars and death haunted her.

“So, tell me these dreams you've had?” Abey said walking to the window.

“Well, I see war, lots of people die. I see you and me questioning what we've done or been through. I know we're supposed to have four people helping us. I doubt they either know about us, or they haven't found us.” Gabriela said playing with her shoelace. “Once they've found us, I think the demons will get our location too. I didn’t want to admit to this, but I dreamt we'll end up in Colorado for some reason,” she said with a sad face.

Abey turned towards her best friend, “me too.” Abey was afraid to go to Colorado, she'd heard horror stories about the Tribes there, killing other Tribes. “Have you dreamt when we will meet those that aid us?” she questioned. “No, I know it's when we get to Colorado, I'm afraid we have to somehow gain knowledge there as well,” Gabriela said joining her friend by the window. “I dream of an entity as well; you are going to receive her soon,” she said touching Abey on the shoulder.

“What? You're joking right. This is all just a nightmare. We should just go back home and fight this as a Coven.” she said crossing her arms.

“Oh, now you want to go home. You've done enough damage there, and I don't think the Coven would help you anyway,” she growled. “Sorry I don't mean that how it sounded. Gabriela held her breath, she half expected her best friend to lash out at her, but she stayed quiet.

“Look I think you should do what your Grandfather suggested, you wouldn't want his death to haunt you because you didn’t listen to another Native American.” Abey still stayed quiet. She held her Grandfather's crystal in her hand. He never lied to her before, and he was always right about his visions.

“Get some rest,” Abey said walking to the bed. “We leave in the morning; we need to get to Colorado.”

“We're close,” Gabriela said before turning the light off.
