Antonioni's POV

I was standing by the window when Diego’s voice buzzedthat through my comms.

"King onethat of the new recruits asked to see you. Says it's urgent. The girl, Rachael."

Rachael. One of the twenty-five I’d been shaping for weeks. Quick hands. Quicker eyes. Hungry to rise. I could always sense hunger in them. It smelled like sweat and old fear.

I flicked ashes into the tray. “Send her in.”

The moment the door opened, I knew something was off.

She stepped in, head low but shoulders too tight, her movements... calculated. She was masking something.

"Close the door," I said, my voice flat.

She obeyed, hands trembling faintly as they met the heavy brass handle. I noticed her earrings, two small studs, new. Odd choice for her uual plain look. But I didn’t mention it. Not yet.

Rachael stood before me, eyes darting, trying to keep her breath steady.

“Well?” I asof stepping closer, the smoke from m, cigar curling between us.

She swallowed hard. Then, almost too fast, the words

  • Shadows of the Vow   Chapter Ninety-Six The Big Guys Gave In To Daraç

Days after, the meeting which was adjourned the last time was called back again.Again, the meeting was to be held in Turkey with Emir Yücel, Luca, myself, the Daraç group and the government folks. Nevertheless, the meeting was never meant to be easy. The Daraç Group had circled the Turkish government for months, quiet proposals, indirect conversations, pressure applied through back channels, but Ankara had refused to commit. They wanted leverage. Control. Plausible distance. That was before today. We met in a private boardroom overlooking the Bosphorus, glass walls tinted just enough to hide the city without denying its presence. Power likes views. It reminds men what they stand to lose.Kemal Daraç sat at the head of the table, hands folded, calm in the way only founders are…men who know the machine will move because they built it. To his right sat Emir Yücel, immaculate as always, posture diplomatic, eyes sharp. Luca took the opposite end, already scanning documents, already watchi

  • Shadows of the Vow   Chapter Ninety-Five  His Call That Broke the Line

Nobody's POV The call was placed at dawn. Not from the chamber with the jasmine tea, not from the old dojo, but from a smaller room Jong Ping Jin kept sealed…four walls, no windows, bare except for a single altar and an unlit candle. The kind of room men used when they knew prayer would not answer them. The phone rang once.Twice.Then connected.“Milo Martinez,” a voice answered, cool, detached. Not rushed. Not curious. Like the voice of a man who's used to choosing when things mattered.“Mi Lo Jin, adeul” Jong Ping Jin said quietly.Silence.Then a slow breath on the other end. “I told you not to use that last name, and never to call me your son,” Milo replied. “Our biological relationship died with the woman you drove to her early grave.”The old man closed his eyes. The candle remained unlit. “I don’t have much time,” Jong Ping Jin said.“That’s not my problem.”“I need you to listen.”“I’ve listened my whole life,” Milo said. “To threats. To rules. To men like you pretending b

  • Shadows of the Vow    Chapter Ninety-Four  Lorenzo, Kowloon Op.

Lorenzo's POV The old martial arts chamber deep within the Whispering Bamboo District of Kowloon was still. Too still. Paper lanterns swayed overhead, rustling like ghosts whispering secrets. I stepped through the sliding door, my coat flaring behind me like war-drapes, two of my men flanking me in grey suits, eyes sharp, silent. For a moment, the stillness pulled me backward. Not to Kowloon, but to another room. Another silence. One I had engineered myself.I had been smiling that day. Rachael’s feed had been clean. Too clean. The audio threaded perfectly through the ear studs I’d given her, custom work, buried beneath innocence. When she told me she’d finally cracked Antonioni’s perimeter, I almost laughed. I almost admired him for lasting this long.I remember leaning back, fingers steepled, listening. His voice came through first. Calm. Measured. Kingly.“Send her in.”I expected tension. Maybe suspicion. I didn’t expect how quickly the room bent around him. Even through a wire

Antonioni's POV Morning light crawled through the tall windows of the dining hall. The time was 6:48 am.I sat alone at the head of the long oak table in the room, a fresh pot of dark roast before me, a plate of eggs I hadn’t touched. She entered… Annabelle.Fresh, composed. As if last night had never happened. Hmm, she now wakes up early, effortlessly. You all know she was struggling to wake up early when she first came. Thanks to training! She took her seat across from me. No words yet. I liked that. No small talk when there was real business to address.I poured myself another cup, letting the silence stretch just long enough. Then I looked her in the eye.“What exactly were you doing,” I asked, voice low, measured, “in the forbidden archive room?”Her fork paused mid-air. A flicker in her gaze, barely a second, but I caught it.She placed the fork down carefully. “I was searching for one copy of the guest ledgers,” She said smoothly. “A copy of the suppliers’ ledger I had misplac

Annabelle's POV Morning light crawled through the tall windows of the master's room’s dining table. I entered, calm on the outside, though the weight of the night still lingered beneath my skin. The time was 6:48 am.These days, I no longer struggle to wake up early, unlike when I first came, when some of the dome workers mocked me for it. Thanks to training! He was already there, Antonioni.Seated alone at the head of the long oak table, with untouched eggs before him, a pot of coffee within easy reach.I took my seat across from him, careful to hold his gaze only lightly. No words. Not yet. He liked that. No pointless chatter when something far more pressing was brewing beneath the surface.I watched as he poured himself another cup, unhurried. Letting the silence stretch. Measuring me. Then, his eyes locked onto mine."What exactly were you doing," He asked, voice low and edged with steel, "in the forbidden archive room?"My fingers stilled, fork midway to my lips. For one breath,
