Chapter 33

last update Last Updated: 2026-01-03 03:23:10

We found our way back inside of my new house. Rudolph set me down on the sofa. He wrapped a blanket around me but, that didn’t adjust my frozen state. I was still seeing everything. My brother, my parents, her annihilated body. It was constant visuals playing on repeat in my mind. I couldn’t see past it. It was like I could see and understand everything about life, death and the Universe for the first time. He Walked outside briefly and came back in with an old wheel grinding stone. That thing must have weighed a ton, and he was carrying it like it was tv. He placed it in front of the door.

“I told you to run!” he said in anger.

He turned around to look at me. I was shaking, frozen yet somehow rocking back and forth. Tears were streaming down my face. He noticed that I was damn near catatonic. He held me close as if I would disappear from his sight. He looked at me and I realized that he was Ralph. Why or how would he be here? I haven’t seen him in weeks, he doesn’t know where I live. Unless! Is he the Hofer? The mysterious Hofer I had not met yet. Mr. Dubois said that Rudolph would be arriving in France soon. Could it be?! I felt like I was struck by lightning! Every time I had those weird dreams, he was there. Every time I saw him, he seemed like a damn dream. There was something about him that was familiar to me, like I had known him my entire life.

“Are you Rudolph Hofer or Ralph? You never did tell me your name.” I said in a daze.

“I never got the chance to my love. Yes, I am Rudolph Hofer.”

“Are you the same Lord Rudolph Hofer who was Gabrielle’s betrothed” I asked being beside myself. It couldn’t be. Immortality doesn’t exist. He looked at me with a grave expression.

“What would I do if I told you I was? What if I told you that I was a vampire?” I was stunned. He was studying my face. Checking to see how I was going to react. Suddenly, so many thing fell into place, and I realized that Judith was right. The truth about him was right in front of me. I always knew what he was, what his family is. After what I had just witnessed, I couldn’t deny the truth in front of me anymore. The vision I had just confirmed the reality, and so much more.

“Nothing, there’s nothing I would do. Why would I deny you? Ever since I met you, you have loved and protected me.”  I said with determination. I had never felt so love than when I was with him. He’s the only one who has ever lit my soul on fire. I wish I would have met him a long time ago.

“I wish I would have more” he said to me in a dead voice. I snuggled into him.

“I wish I would have met you long ago” I tell him with a smile.

“I wish I protected you from Silas, I pray God that he isn’t coming for you.”

“Who’s Silas?”

“Silas Carvernall” I recognize that name.

“You mean Owens ancestor?”

“Is that what he told you? “ he laughed.

“That man comes from a sadistic wealthy vampire family. They’ve been around for thousands of years. Longer than me.” I looked at him praying that he was wrong. How could I never have known?

“No, wouldn’t I have known he was a fucking vampire?!”  I shouted in rage.

“He is very good at  concealment unless he used compulsion on you at some point.” He said uncertainly.

“Fuck! This makes total sense! All the weekend trips to his parents house and he refused to take me with! Anyway, we had a fight. I swore I saw his eyes change color. He said I was imagining things but, then he would leave for days and not return. How could I be so blind and stupid!” I said angrily at myself for not seeing the truth in front of me.

“You were young and in love, you would not have been able to see. He’s very good at concealment.” He told me while continuing to hold me close. He took my face in his hands and kissed me fiercely.

“I need to leave; Edgar won’t get away with this. Not this time.”

“Who is he?”

“My deranged cousin. He’s just as sadistically vile as the Carvernall’s”

“Somehow I know.” I told him. He looked at me warily.

“I can see things, like visions, I can’t explain it. glimpses of the past possibly tied to traumatic events. What just happened with Judith. I was seeing the day I found my parents but, it was different, it was like I was seeing the day that it happened. Like I was a bystander, I watched the gruesome assault yet couldn’t do nothing. It was Owen, and the guy outside my house the other day, I think his name was Conrad.” I watched his face morph from puzzled to rage at the mention of the name. His eyes were black.

“I watched them like I was using telepathy to spy on them. They met with Edgar outside my parents home after the slaughter. He was there. They all were there. They slaughtered my parents. They were talking about plotting to take down your family, and he’s going to use me to get to you. He’s going to kill me and somehow make you watch. He said he wants to drive you mad with revenge.” Rudolph held me close like he was scared to leave me.

“I need to leave; I need to regroup with Fredrick. He was out in the woods fighting Conrad.”

“Please, stay, don’t leave me!” I said as I clung to him. I felt like a scared little girl that needed her protector with her.

“Just for tonight. I will call Fredrick to check if Edgar is still in the area. “ He said to me. He cradled me in his arms like I was a precious gem.

“You have no idea, how long I have wanted this, waited for this and missed this.” He whispered. I stared into his eyes, my eyes continued to look at him. his dark brown eyes that seemed to sparkle, his chiseled jawline, his high cheekbones, his dark brunette hair. We were gazing into each other for what seemed like forever. His lips came down upon mine, and I opened up to him. He moaned at the taste of my mouth, and I finally felt whole.

The rest of the Hofer family had cleared the area. Except for Walter. I saw him hiding in the crowd. He was staring at the scene in bitterness. There was a sneer on his face. He ran towards Rudolph at the battle arena. Ralph was hurt; he was prime target to easily kill. I lived through so much, I was not losing him.“WALTER!” I roared. He stopped and stared at me. There was fear in his eyes, he looked pale for a moment.“Oh Goddess, of bullshit! You think you can come back! Never!” he bellowed as he threw a spear at me. I hit the ground to get out of the way. I heard a groan from behind me. The spear had hit my grandfather.“No!” I ran towards him and held him as his life faded from his eyes.“I love you buttercup. I am so sorry, I never told you.” He said as he breathed his last. I cried in sorrow. I reached back with the power of the goddess I knew was flowing inside of me. I grabbed Walter by the throat like a Sith as he was about to perform a killing blow to Rudolph. He choked as

I heard the roar of pain, rage and my eternal salvation. I felt the ground quake. I had left the mental door open for Rudolph to hear everything. With eyes slipping closed, I saw the castle walls being ripped open like the wrath of the earth and powerful force was being slammed into the room. The walls ripped open. Broken, and bleeding I saw Rudolph in all his eternal glory. His eyes were the color of fire, ablaze with revenge with the need for revenge his been seeking for the last thousand years. The constant betrayal of his family cut deep. I saw Victor Hofer and several others storming into the room. I saw an invisible power pick up Edgar and rip him away from me. He flew several yards and hit an ancient building. He screamed in anger. Several vampires were surrounding me and snarling at Conrad and Silas.“Get her out of here!” Rudolph roared to one of them. Fredrick came to me as I was coughing up blood.“Oh my God! Miss Katie! Forgive me!” he bellowed as tears streamed down his f

My mind drifted, and I came back to reality. I glance through my half-closed eye lids and notice, he’s not the only one in the room. Conrad and Edgar are also there. Hovering over my body. I open my eyes; they already probably know that I am awake. I try to pull on the chains, and I stare at Edgar with a defiant look. He stares back at me. They all stop their sexual probing of me. Conrad and Silas take step back at Edgars physical command, when he holds up his hand.“So, this seems familiar, only different. How do we fucking kill you and make sure you don’t come back?” Edgar says. I smirked, then I spit in his face. He smirks then slaps me hard enough across the face, that I feel like jaw crack. I steel my reserve. I will not scream in pain to their delight.”“Why me?” I ask through the pain.“That’s a good question, you don’t know do you ?” I stare at him.“Lover boy hasn’t told you?” Conrad said with a snicker.“You’re descendant from a powerful deity. She fell in love with someone

The left side of my head feels sticky and has the most throbbing. I feel like someone just hit me with a Mack truck. My eyes are groggy but begin to focus around the room. I am no long bathed in the darkness of where I was but, I am still not in good shape, I look down trying to focus my eyes. I left eye can barely open. Whoever hit me must have given me a black eye, on top of knocking me the fuck out.I look around. I am in a bedroom I do not recognize. It looks ancient, the design looks it’s a medieval castle bedchamber room. The bed is large enough to fit a dozen people but, there’s dust everywhere. It shows, it has not been used in forever. There is a faint glow of a light in the room. As if it is lit with a torch or candles. I feel hands roaming around me. I lay still. It feels also, like I cannot move my legs? Did they break them or something

I remember Ralpha left telling me to stay in the house. Before leaving, as an escape route, he removed the stone from the entrance of the tunnel. He told me if anything happened. I could escape to the tunnel. Find a chamber room and lock myself in or hide in the mansion. I nodded, grateful for an escape I can rely on. He told me to call him if I can, if anything happens. That was a few hours ago. He said that he was going to arrange with Fredrick and the Hofer family our trip to Germany. He needed to prepare the vampire counsel of my presence as well. He said that not everyone would be on board with a human being included into his world. He said that if they knew I am intending to one day change and become queen that would settle them down.He said there has not been a vampire royal couple. King and Queen since his parents. His parents were killed six hundred years ago during the Middle Ages. Humans during that time were more aware of vampire creatures and were not accepting. There we

We start getting dressed. He looks outside and checks to make sure the coast is clear. He calls on his phone to Fredrick and speaks with him. When he is done, he tells me that Conrad and Edgar no longer appear to be in the area. I should be safe. I breath a sigh of relief.“You can’t stay here right now.” He tells me.“I honestly never wanted to. Too much has happened to me here to want to be here.”“You will be here eventually but, right now I need to keep you safe. You’re coming with me to Germany.” He tells me with finality. I look at him in surprise. I am going with him to the Hofer family estate. If he’s really the same one who was with Gabrielle, this means I am going to the “Lord Hofer” estate where he was once a person of German royalty. The amount of German historical ancestry this is, I am nervous and excited.“In my vision, they were saying that you called a ‘Vampire King’ of Germany?” I ask him he looks at me warily.“Yes, that is true, you don’t need to worry about it. th
