Chapter Five

Noah stood up and gestured towards his bedroom. "I’ll be back in a flash.” He disappeared through the door, leaving me to mull over the kind of person he was—his empathy and consideration were almost disarming, and I couldn't deny that there was a sense of security in his presence.

Moments later, he returned with a bundle of clothes in his arms. "Here are some of my clean shirts and tracksuit bottoms. They might be a bit big on you, but they should do the trick.”

I collected it, but I was moved by his love.

The way he talks and everything, is it that he's being nice to me? or he's just nice to everyone this way.

“Alright, thank you, I'd go look for Anna”

“No, just call her name, she will answer, she works around here not far from my room at all and I kind of trust her, that's why I want her to be your maid, if you are not free with me, make sure you are free with her, she's so nice”

“Alright, thank you” I said, I moved closer to his door and I shut his door.

“Anna” I called out, and just immediately, she came.

“You can take me to my room”

“Alright, I'll do that now, please follow me” She moved and I followed her.

She entered a room, it was very beautiful and I admired the room so much.

“Whoa! This room is beautiful”

“You will get to see more beautiful room ma'am, and I am sure your room in your house too will be very beautiful as a model”

I smiled, “Thank you, I need to shower”

“Alright” She threw a towel at me. “This is the bathroom,” she pointed to a room.

I entered, and I bath. When I entered the room, I could not find Anna again

I changed to the cloth given to me by Noah.

I lied down on the bed, and I kept on pressing my phone.

Just then, I heard a knock on the door.

“Come on” I said

Noah came in. He was putting on a boxer and a singlet, with his hair combed. He looked so sexy and handsome that I could not stop starting.

We had eye contact. “What are you here for?” I tried distracting the moment, to start up a conversation.

“I just wanted to know if you are fine and comfortable” He asked as he stepped in.

“Of course, I am”

“I will leave them” As he was about to leave I held him in the hand and I gave him a kiss.

“I am sorry” he dragged me closer and kissed me passionately.

We continued missing for about a minute, and then for some minutes, we stopped.

“I am sorry” He said

“It's fine”

He left his room and I went to the bed, I kept on imagining the one minute kiss.

Noah is a wonderful, quiet and calm man. Ever since I have known him I know him to be a sincere man.

My head was spinning, my thoughts, a tangled web of emotions and confusion. The kiss had been intense, unexpected, and undeniably exciting, yet it had left me with a whirlwind of questions.

Noah's sincerity, his quiet demeanor, had always been one of the qualities that I admired in him. But this moment, this new development, threatened to change everything. I wondered if the contract between us was truly a shield against such feelings or if it was just a foolproof plan for heartbreak.

The clock ticked away, the silence in your room broken only by your racing thoughts. As I tried to make sense of the kiss, a knock on the door jolted me back to the present.

Anna’s soft voice echoed through the room. "Miss Rachel, do you need anything”

“No, I'll let you know when I need anything” I said and she exit the door

It's the next morning, and I was preparing for work already.

I have no clothes here so I am going to put on the clothes I wore to the gathering.

I gave Anna the clothes to get it washed and iron so I could put it on to work and when I close from work, I would go to my house to take some of my clothes.

As I began to prepare, Anna brought in the cloth, clean and iron.

“Thank you” I said.

I put on the cloth in her presence.

“Please, could you zip it up for me please”

“Sure” she moved closer to help me.

“You are beautiful,” She said again.

“Thank you” I said, painting my face with make-up. She left my room

I got ready to work and I went to the living room. I saw Noah sitting down he was already dressed up in a blue suit, he looks charming as always.

“I am waiting for you,” He said.

“Me? I am going to work”

“I know, I am thinking I could drop you before heading to my office”

“Oh! Hope you won't be delayed, I'll be fine, I'll find my way to my office, don't worry”

“But I insist”

I breathe in and out, and replied, “Okay”

We went to the compound, the driver had sat behind the wheel and we sat down at the back of the car.

He's such a caring man, from opening the door to closing it.

I wish not to separate from him, the car should keep going slowly and gently.

“We are at your office” He said after the cat had stopped moving.

“Oh!” Thank you very much

“You are welcome and when should I come to pick you”

“Oh! Do you have to, I'll find my way home” I tried forming a difficulty.

“Oh! But I'll want to and you don't have to reject”

“Then no problem, I'll be expecting you” I was about to open the car, then I said “I want to go to my house to take done of my clothes”

“Is that necessary? I had get new ones for you”

“It's important”

“Then I will close from work soon so we can head to your house first before going to my house”

“No problem then”

The day passed by in a whirlwind, my thoughts still lingering on that kiss and the feelings that were beginning to stir within me. Work proved to be a welcome distraction, but the moment I stepped out of the office, my mind raced back to Noah.

And there he was, waiting for me just as he had promised. A small smile played on his lips as he opened the door for me. The tension between us was palpable as he helped me settle into the car.

"How was work?" he asked, breaking the silence that had settled between you.

"It was good, thank you.”

The drive back to my house was filled with moments of comfortable silence, punctuated by small talk and brief, charged glances.

I couldn't help but wonder if Noah was thinking of the kiss, if it had stirred something within him too. Or perhaps it was just wishful thinking on my part.

Eventually, I arrived at my house, the place that once held so many memories with Noah's brother. As I opened the door, the familiar sights and smells brought with them a rush of mixed emotions.

“Is anything wrong?” He asked, after he noticed my mood changed.

“No, lets go inside, so I can take something”

As we were heading in, he said “Your room is attractive”

“Common, don't tease me, you just want to say that to reciprocate the compliment I gave when I came to your house”

“That's seriously not it, I am sincere now”

“Thank you very much, it's a pleasure to hear from you, A CEO complimenting my house, actually it's been my very long time since I was a kid that anytime I become a model, I am going to get a good house for myself. Any money I get, I'll split it into two, one for my upkeep, the other to save, to buy my house…”

“Whoa! I love that, that's very good of you, thanks for not depending on anybody”

“Well, who am I to depend on? Mum who married someone else and does not care about her daughter? I just need to be strong for myself”

“Hmmm, it's well, you are strong indeed, a strong lady indeed, you are my type of lady…”

“Huh?”

The more I talked with Noah, the more I felt a sense of connection, a strange familiarity that transcended the contract I’d signed.

As I rummaged through my room, the silence was almost comforting, each of them lost in my thoughts. The mere presence of Noah in my space was both thrilling and daunting, reminding me of the thin line we were both treading.

Suddenly, my phone chimed. It was a message from an unfamiliar number. my heart skipped a beat as I opened it.

It was a message from Leo

Chapter Ninety Six: PeaceThe room was quiet, the hum of the evening outside barely heard through the windows. Rachel sat on the bed, pulled her knees up close to her chest, and looked down at her hands. It had been an emotional day in surges which would leave one drained and still feel lighter than it had in weeks. She had heard Noah's words, taken the weight of his forgiveness, and finally-finally-allowed herself to believe that moving on was possible. But it was not only the past that weighed upon her with Noah. It was something deeper, far deeper, which she carried with her for much longer: the weight of decisions taken and actions she had led herself into in this position she is in presently. And none of these would have been possible without Vanessa. That made Rachel stop and think. Her friend, her confidante-her best friend-had always been there for her. In the maelstrom of their pain together, however, there was a part inside Rachel that wondered whether those choices had been

  • Shattered Trust   The Unannounced Visit

Chapter Ninety Five: The Unannounced VisitThe air was cool that evening, with that certain sting that made one clinch the jacket tighter and quicken the steps. Noah and Stephanie just stepped out of the restaurant, with the silence between them thick with dinner. Noah's mind had raced since their conversation, but his resolve had only been strengthened. He had to do this. He needed to see Rachel, to tell her he had forgiven her and wanted nothing other than for the two of them to be free to move on in life and find peace.Stephanie walked beside him, her hand clasped in his. She knew what he was doing, and as much as the wiser part of her still harbored her own reservations about the situation, she did understand that Noah needed this for his healing. She couldn't deny that a part of her was nervous, too-this wasn't going to be an easy conversation. But they couldn't ignore the past forever. Sometimes, closure was the only way forward. They turned to the building that housed Rachel's

  • Shattered Trust   A Dinner Between Hearts

Chapter Ninety Four: A Dinner Between HeartsEvening had worn into the comfortable silence; Noah sat opposite Stephanie, watching as she carefully placed the settings of the dishes she prepared for the better part of the afternoon. The hum of the kitchen at the restaurant behind him was accompanied by clinking of fine china and silverware, with wafting smells of fresh vegetables and herbs that reminded him of how much he had missed homely comforts. With a quiet contentedness that only can come from cooking for somebody dear, Stephanie smiled brightly at him across the table. She had always been a fantastic cook, and tonight wasn't going to be an exception. There was such delicacy in the balance of tastes and flavors on his plate to confirm her genius, but more important than anything was the fire that lit with her presence there, and her laughter that danced around the room in its voice. You know, she said, sipping her wine, I think this might be the best meal I've made in weeks. • Shattered Trust   Internal Struggle

Chapter Ninety Three: Rachel's Inner StruggleRachel sat alone in the darkened room of her apartment, hands clasped tightly around a mug of tea that she hadn't sipped. The warmth from the cup seeped into her palms but did nothing to quell the chill gnawing at her chest. She hadn't been able to get out of bed for the past few days, but today, her mind couldn't afford the luxury of lingering in self-pity any longer. She knew no longer what to do with herself as the world kept blurring into one big confusion of pain. The weight of her actions weighed heavily upon her, at times insurmountable. She quit her job, the one thing that anchored her into some kind of routine, just to get away from the tension slowly choking her. The thought of facing Noah after everything that had happened-after having betrayed him and watched him move on with Stephanie-was just too much to bear. Her guilt was eating her from the inside out, spiraling further down each passing day.The betrayal nipped at her con

  • Shattered Trust   Internal Struggle And Pressure

Chapter Ninety Two: The fight of Rachel and Vanessa's Growing PressureShe sat on the edge of her bed and stared into the quiet night out her window. The city glowed alive, but every one of its lights, so it seemed, was farther away from the storm brewing in her heart. An ache inside her chest made her feel the air thicken enough to suffocate her with every desperate attempt to get more air in. It wasn't the night that was heavy, but the torment inside of her, her guilt, the betrayal, and all her wrong choices. Each time her mind drifted to Noah and the days with him, she remembered how he loved her, took care of her, and was there for her during the days when she needed it most. It now felt like the memories had been poisoned. Every touch he had given her, every word of love, every gesture was clouded in the knowledge that she had betrayed him. Not just once but twice-first by dating James, then by her part in Stephanie's kidnapping. She had crossed lines she could never uncross.Tea

  • Shattered Trust   Guilt

Chapter Ninety One: GuiltThe soft, rhythmic sound of the rain tapping against the windowpane provided almost a melancholic soundtrack to Rachel's thoughts. She sat alone in her small apartment, the dim light from the lamp casting long shadows on the walls. She stood stiff, her hands curled into fists where her nails had dug deep into her palms to steady some unevenly escaping breaths from her chest. The whirlwind of turmoil, guilt, and regret all swirled within her mind.Rachel had sat here for hours without the slightest idea how much time had actually elapsed since she last checked her watch. Outside, the world had dulled to a gray haze, rain diffusing reality and fantasy. Her head was filled with visions of what had taken place during the last days. The look on Stephanie's terrified face when they took her away-when she and Vanessa dragged her away-stayed in her mind, awake or asleep. It was a memory that she could not shake, no matter how hard she tried. She thought of Noah and h
