Alexander Veylor – POV

I laughed before I even spoke.

They never learn.

I leaned back in my chair with my wine glass in hand, watching the city lights outside my office window. My assistant stood a few steps away, holding a tablet, waiting.

“They really thought they could steal from me and walk away,” I said.

I took a sip of wine.

Mark glanced at his screen. “Sir, Horizon Tech is all over the news right now.”

I looked at him. “Read it.”

He nodded and started.

Alexander's – POV I stared at my mother, waiting for her to tell me it was a joke. She didn't. The silence around the table grew heavier with every passing second. My father remained composed, as though he had expected this moment all along. Eleanor Whitmore sat with a gentle smile, while her husband, William, watched me closely, trying to read my reaction. Amelia sat quietly beside them. Her posture was straight, her expression calm. She neither looked away nor appeared embarrassed by what my mother had just announced. It was as though she had already accepted the decision. I shifted my gaze back to my mother. "You've arranged my marriage without asking me." It wasn't a question. My mother's smile softened. "Alexander, hear me out first." "I've heard enough." "You haven't." She placed her cutlery down and folded her hands neatly on the table. "Eleanor and I made this promise long before either of you were born. We always hoped that one day our families

Alexander's – POV The moment my car rolled through the gates, I knew something was different. The mansion was brighter than usual. Every light seemed to be on, and an unfamiliar vehicle was parked neatly along the driveway. I frowned. We rarely had visitors, especially at this hour. I stepped out of the car, handed the keys to one of the security guards, and walked inside. The moment I entered the living room, voices drifted toward me. Laughter. Conversation. I glanced up. I loosened my tie as I walked into the dining area. My father, Richard Veylor sat at the head of the table while my mother, Victoria Veylor was speaking animatedly to three unfamiliar guests. Lina and my brother, Adrian, were laughing over something, completely immersed in the conversation. My gaze swept across the strangers for less than a second. A middle-aged man. A woman around my mother's age. And a young lady. Without saying a word, I walked pass the dinning area and toward the st

Reports say they used stolen designs and filed fake patents. Investors are pulling out. The company is losing value quickly.” I let out a short laugh. “So it’s already falling apart.” Mark continued. “Analysts say the company might collapse completely if the investigation continues.” I set my glass down. “Good.” I stood up and walked toward the window. “They didn’t just steal,” I sai

Evelyn – POV I woke up to sunlight brushing against my face, warm but cruel. For a moment, I didn’t remember where I was. Then the blanket wrapped around me, the faint smell of coffee, and the quiet of Clara’s apartment reminded me. Reality crashed in again. Ethan. The house, Ethan’s laugh, the papers, the slap. My chest clenched so tight I could barely breathe. I curled deeper into the blanket Clara had wrapped around me last night, pressing my palm against my stomach. My baby. My child. The one thing Ethan would never take from me. “Finally awake?” Clara’s voice came softly from the kitchen. I turned my head. She was standing there in jeans and a loose shirt, her hair tied back. She held a mug in her hand, her eyes studying me carefully, like I might break all over again. I sat up slowly, the blanket slipping off my shoulders. My body ached, my heart even more. “I… I didn’t mean to sleep here,” I whispered, my throat rough. Clara walked over and set the mug down in

Evelyn – POV Blinding headlights. A loud horn. My body froze in the middle of the road. I couldn’t move—fear had me chained. Tears blurred my vision as the car screeched to a halt just inches away. My chest heaved. My knees buckled, and I dropped down, gasping for air, clutching at nothing as if it could steady me. “Miss! Are you okay?!” The driver’s voice rang out as the car door slammed shut. I lifted my head, my breaths still ragged. A man was running toward me, his face lined with worry. “You almost ran me over,” I managed, my voice hoarse, my body shaking. “I’m so sorry,” he said quickly, hands raised like he was pleading. “Please, let me take you to the hospital. You’re not alright.” The cold night gnawed at my skin. My thin nightgown clung to me, my bare feet stung against the rough road, and I couldn’t stop trembling. I forced myself to stand, even though my legs felt like they could collapse again. “I’m fine,” I muttered, turning away. “Wait—” he started, bu

Evelyn pov Ethan moved in front of me, his hand gripping mine. “We’ll talk about all that tomorrow,” he said smoothly. “But for now… it’s late. We should sleep.” I yanked my hand free, stepping back. My voice was sharp, venomous. “I will never lay on that dirty bed. You disgust me, Ethan. How can you expect me to sleep in the same bed you—” The words barely left my mouth before a sharp slap landed on my cheek. Pain exploded across my face, and tears poured freely. I had never imagined he would raise his hand on me. “I’m sorry,” Ethan muttered, his voice low. I cut him off, my voice shaking but fierce. “Leave my house. You’re fired from BR Corporations. Everything that is mine… is mine, not yours.” He paused, a dangerous laugh escaping him. “Sorry to tell you, Evelyn… you don’t have that power.” My chest tightened. “What…?” He leaned closer, his eyes cold. “Because I am the owner of all your properties, all your inheritance. I own your clothes, your money, Company … eve
