Cass's POVI sat in the meeting room, my body still sore from the punches Vex had landed on me the day before. The bruises on my face had faded overnight, but the shame in my chest remained fresh and raw. Kael sat beside me, completely healed. His face was grave, and the other elders beside him wore matching expressions of disappointment and anger."I am very disappointed," Elder Tomas said, his voice carrying through the room. "Someone among our people is betraying us. Someone has been smuggling crystals out of the Caverns of Ash and providing them to outsiders. This is not a small crime. This is a betrayal of everything our community stands for.
