"Who do you think you are, Hadley. You are just Andrew’s ex-wife, and tonight he'll purchase me a diamond and pop the question.”

"Really? So happy for you guys then.” Hadley gave a smirk. “Get out of my way or I’ll hit you with my car.”

“You wouldn’t—“

“Get lost.” Hadley screamed, Laura flinched and rush out of the way. Hadley drove away.

Kingsley Fern, her grandfather, called her few minutes later.

"Hi, Grandpa."

"Had, I sent you a link to an auction, take a look, it’s tonight. You’ll see the invitation once you click the link. A diamond will be up for auction. You have to buy it regardless of the price.”

Hadley was a little taken aback. “I didn't know you were interested in diamonds, Grandpa."

"Hurry up. Simply purchase it. I have my reasons.”

Hadley grinned and said, "All right.”

After hanging up, Hadley thought, "What a coincidence, Laura Beck. Don't blame me for ruining your proposal."

~~

The Dove Auction House was bustling with prominent people and elites at night.

Every woman in the room gave Laura and Andrew jealous looks as they entered the banquet hall.

In her limited-edition red dress, Laura looked gorgeous tonight. Her already glowing appearance was further enhanced by the stunning diamond earrings she wore.

Laura felt a rush of pride and raised her head slightly as she observed their envious looks. She was the only woman Andrew had ever bought to a gathering like this, after all.

He didn't love Hadley, even if she was once his wife. Additionally, he had never accompanied her to a public place like this.  Laura grew smug as she considered that. After that, she politely greeted everyone.

Andrew’s appearance created quite a fuss, but he was quite cool with it.

Laura was then led to the seats by him.

Naturally, Andrew had the costliest  seats in the first row because he was an SVIP here. However, as soon as he sat down, he saw that there was still a seat available.

It must have been set aside for someone more significant than him, he thought.

"Who’s that guest?" he asked his buddy Harry Dove, who sat on the left side while Laura sat at the right.

Harry had a chiseled face and his father was the owner of this auction house. His stunning features were framed by his gently curled shoulder-length hair. He had the regal yet carefree appearance of a prince from a picture.

Harry appeared more like a playboy.

“I'm also curious. My dad said It's for his most distinguished guest.” Harry said.

Andrew scowled. His piercing eyes were frighteningly cold.  The most notable visitor seems to be present for the diamond as well.

Which business tycoon was it, he wondered?

Laura could not wait to see who this person was.

All of the attendees were seated gradually. However, the enigmatic person had yet to arrive.

The first jewelry up for auction was brought to the stage by the host.

The violet diamond was the reason everyone came here.

At that moment, a thin figure entered through the side entrance. It was Hadley.

She arrived last minute because of traffic.  Even though she disliked crowds, her grandfather insisted on purchasing the violet diamond and she had to be here.

Everyone's attention was drawn to her appearance, and they were all astounded by her attractive features.

Hadley saw that the auction house was filled with elite. It seems she was unaware of the worth of this diamond.

It was Hadley?

Andrew was stunned and couldn't look away from her.

Hadley’s complexion looked smooth and radiant. Her hair was packed neatly and she was wearing a black backless gown that exposed her backs and small part of her waist. She looked so sexy and hot.

Andrew knew she would still look gorgeous in rags. He began to sweat when he saw that she was now the center of attention at the moment.

When Laura saw Hadley, her eyes lit up with rage, jealousy and shock. Hadley had lost a lot of weight even almost looking as skinny as her now.

As expected, when she turn to look at Andrew, his focus was on Hadley. Laura will never allow Hadley to seduce him, so she spoke to distract him.

“It appears that Hadley hasn't moved on from you, Drew. Why would she be here otherwise?” Laura asked.

Andrew turn to look at her.

This auction was only open to the wealthy and influential. So how was Hadley here, and even the one the seat was reserved for?

Even now, Andrew still couldn't believe Hadley had moved on.

Hadley made her way to the seat that was set reserved for her.  She sat down without even looking at Andrew or Laura like they weren’t there.

Both were stunned.

When Laura saw Hadley was the mysterious guest, the light in her eyes faded.

So she is that important that Harry’s dad had to set the seat specifically for her? How?

Who really is Hadley, Andrew wondered.
