LOGIN" You've been giving that new girl attention all day today. Are you sure you don't want to bone that human?" Damon snorted, side-eyeing me.
Lester pushes forward, his forearms on the seats. "The small blonde girl?" He questioned with furrowed brows.
I rolled my eyes. "Jesus fucking Christ Damon, of course not. I was just teasing the damn girl."
Damon snorted. "Teasing her eh? You were eye fucking her in the class, during lunch and literally was looking for the girl before we left. Bruh that little human caught your attention."
I let out a groan running my hand down my face. "I don't care for humans, especially to fuck them."
Damon laughed. "You probably shouldn't, they couldn't handle us any way."
Lester snorted. "You toy with human girls on a regular Damon."
Damon shrugged. "Yeah but at least they are bigger than that tiny girl. One thrust and she breaks. She won't be able to take on a wolf's cock."
I grit my teeth. Somehow I didn't like the way he spoke about her. But I kept my mouth shut.
He pulled into lushies parking lot, killed the engine and looked behind us. He snorted. "I bet you a thousand bucks Dayna followed us here."
I looked in the rearview mirror. Sure enough Dayna's pink beetle pulls up behind us.
I groaned inwardly.
Getting out of the car, I closed the door.
"Raiden baby!" She squealed, rushing over to me with her friends behind her.
She wraps her arms around my midriff. "I miss you Raiden. Let's forget about what you said last night."
Before I thought Dayna had the most beautiful hair I had ever seen. It was pitch black, thick, long and shiny. But now.....blonde has become my favorite.
The guys snorted behind me.
"Dayna, we're broken up." I sighed, trying to peel her spaghetti arms off me.
She pouted. "Raiden. I know you miss me. Come on, you can't be still mad about-
"Dayna." I growled.
Damon snorted. "You're wasting your time this time around Dayna. Raiden has a new fascination. A little blonde one to be more precise."
I turn to send him a sharp glare as Lester punched him in the gut.
Dayna's eyes narrowed up with annoyance. "Blonde fascination? Who is she?"
Thanks fucking a lot Damon.
"Must be that blonde new human girl." Teresa, her friend uttered while popping her gum obnoxiously.
"There's no blonde girl that caught my attention." I snapped in annoyance and turned around to walk toward the diner.
"Wait up baby!" Dayna yelled, seconds later her arm wrap around mine and pushes closer to me.
"I know you can't stay mad at me forever Raiden." She giggled.
I sighed, not having the time to argue right now. I was hungry and thirsty. We stepped into the diner, the bell chiming above us.
Dayna giggles, looking up at me while I scan around.Vanilla bean.
I could detect that scent here. I breathed it in.
My eyes fell on her, squirming in the far corner. For some odd reason my wolf jumped around in my head.
"Let's go say hello over there." Dayna uttered, snapping me out of my wandering stare on Amelia.
Damon clapped my back with his palm. "Yeah man, let's go say hello to your new fascination."
I glared at him heartedly. That fucker knew how Dayna got when someone else catches my attention. Not that Amelia did......
I let Dayna bring me toward Amelia and Foster, not like I had a choice in the matter. One thing about Dayna, her grip is pretty strong. I could get out of it, but I wasn't one to be physically harsh with girls.
"Hey Pickett, Foster and...." Dayna drawled as she pushes me to sit in the booth. Amelia stiffened when I sat down. Dayna sits on my lap.
I let her, so I could give the impression that I was not fascinated with the human girl. I needed Damon off my back. He'd not let me live it down if he found out that I was indeed fascinated with Amelia.
Who wouldn't be?
Amelia was beautiful.
"Amelia." She said softly, looking at Dayna and me.
It was strange to hear her tone so soft.
"So you're the new girl." Dayna drawled with a smile.
Amelia looked between us, her eyes searching. Whatever she found, made her nod before answering Dayna.
"I suppose I am."
Dayna grinned like a Cheshire cat, circling her arm around my neck. Before I used to like the feel of her on my lap. Not anymore. "We don't get new people around here much. What made you come to our old small town?" Dayna questioned.
I tried to pay attention to her words, but my eyes kept drifting to Amelia's lips. For a second, I wondered what they would taste like.
I lift my eyes to her face, in awe of how the dimly lit booth made her eyes stand out even more.
Amelia lifted a shoulder into a shrug. "Personal reasons."
Foster and Pickett eyed Dayna suspiciously and I could just tell Foster was itching to drag Amelia away from us.
Dayna hummed. "You're awfully pretty." She drawled, twirling her hair around her finger.
'You're literally drooling dude.' Damon snorted through the link.
I lift my finger to my lips to check and sent Damon a glare when he snorted out loud. Embarrassingly I did catch a bit of drool on my thumb when I swiped it.
'And you say you don't want the human? Yeah right.' He snorted through the link, making me grit my teeth. I hated when he was right.
Amelia guarded eyes shifted to surprise slightly. Curling her hair behind her ear, she respond faintly. "Thanks."
I'd do anything to run my hands through those silky strands or wrap them around my fist while I push into her from behind. I grow stiff at the thought and Dayna wiggled her bum, perhaps thinking I had grown hard because of her. She couldn't be far from truth. I was painfully hard for the little human sitting across me.
♡ Amelia's pov ♡
I didn't like this girl. The way she was staring at me made me feel uncomfortable. And the way she sat on him too...
" Pretty girls like you should fit in right away," Dayna's lips spread wider. " I am sure you made quite a few friends already," her eyes twinkle. " We like fresh meat around here. Don't we, Raiden?"
Raiden who had not once left his eyes off me, finally tore them away to look at Dayna. He looked confused. " What?"
Dayna rolled her eyes and returned her attention to me, a smirk on her lips. " Don't mind him, he always has his mind in the gutter when I am on his lap, if you know what I mean." She winked suggestively and I wanted to barf.
I needed to get away from here. It seems Foster saw how uncomfortable I grew because he came right to my rescue by clearing his throat. " I think your dad must be waiting for you at home Amelia. Let's go, I'll drop you off. "
I nod, flashing him a grateful smile and getting up to leave, however Dayna's sickly sweet voice turned icy as it cut through the air. " I think I am not done talking."
Amelia's povAlwina's grip on my throat tightens with a tremble of rage.My eyes blur.My lungs scream. His seed? " You're lying!" Alwina bellowed loudly. My vision blurs at the edges, hallowing as a sharp ringing sound builds in my ears. " I'm afraid not," the woman responds and Alwina's fingers around my neck tightens to the point where there's no more air reaching my lungs. A whimper breaks out of me. It was faint and hopeless because I couldn't even lift my hands to pry her off of me. The drugs, the shackles, the fear, they keep me pinned down.Spots scatter behind my eyes and my vision faints to a blur. The older woman suddenly slams her cane hard against the stone floor. It echoes like a heavy stone shattering on the hard floor."Enough," she snaps.Alwina freezes."You cannot kill her before the bond change," the old woman warns. " If she dies before the vessel is emptied, all of our work goes to waste and we have no way of not only paying the hunters for doing our bidding bu
Amelia's povMy stomach twists so violently when I heard her words, I nearly vomited. Gone. She said the bond would be gone.At midnight.Alwina's breath hitches behind her, the sound twisting with something dark and hungry. "Finally," she whispers, voice shaking with excitement that makes bile rise in my throat. " After all these years. After everything.....finally," the happy clapping of her hand causes my head to spin.My heart pounds so hard it hurts. The shackles bite into the skin of my wrists as I try to pull back, but the movement is weak, slobby from the lingering drugs. The cold metal scrapes my skin, making me wince.I feel like someone tied down for a sacrifice. And in a way I am. The older woman drags herself toward the shelves in the dim corner of the room, her cane scraping obnoxiously against the floor as her basket sway at her side. My lungs tighten.I can't look away.I want to.But I can't.I watch her shift closer to the shelves and the closer she gets the more
Raiden's povA sharp splicing pain rips across my chest. It was swift and cold. It felt like a blade was being dragged through the bond. My breath stutters. My vision blurs. My entire body goes rigid with alarm." Raiden?" mom's voice snaps tight with panic. "What is it?"I clutch my chest, fingers digging in as if I were trying to physically grip the pain. "She's-" my voice cracks hard and broken. "She's hurting."Dad's eyes widen. "Hurting?" " I feel it!" I snarl, the words tearing out of me. " Something just-" My breath tumbles into a harsh rasp. " Something has shifted. It's colder, harsher than fear. They're doing something to her."My wolf slams against my skin, claws fighting through my flesh and howling so violently the room feels like it tilts. My nails sharpen into claws without permission and the urge to break free is almost uncontrollable.I snarl under my breath, fighting the beast within me. Mom grabs my face, forcing my gaze to meet hers. " You need to calm down Raid
Raiden's povMom's voice softens. " And you will hurt her more if you collapse out there. If your heart stops again, if the poison spreads..." she shakes her head. " She'll feel it Raiden. She'll feel you slipping. Is that what you want her to feel while she's already terrified and alone?" A low sound breaks out of me. It was a mix between a sound of desperation and part agony. Because I don't know how to answer that question. I don't know what the right move is anymore. All I know is that the burning in my chest won't stop, the bond tugging harshly as I yearn for Amelia close and safe. I press a palm to the bone of my chest. It throbs painfully."Raiden," Mom breathes. " If you die out there, she will shatter. You know she will." My heart clenches because I know she was right. Dad steps closer, voice firm and unbending. "Raiden.....you're not wrong for wanting to go. If I were you, nothing would hold me back either. But you are not healed. You will not survive a fight or be able
Raiden's povMy vision blurred. For a moment the entire world went silent. No beeping monitors, no ragged breaths, no humming from the lights overhead. Just a hollow ringing in my skull as the words sink in my brain brutally. They took her. My pulse spikes so fast the monitor made a shrilling sound in alarm. But it sounds so far away, muted under the roar in my ears as something inside me.......breaks. Shatters."No," the word scratches out of me. It was like that word alone I could manage to even say right now because I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe they had succeeded in taking Amelia. I couldn't believe that I had failed her as a mate. I just couldn't. I try to breathe but it feels like the air in the room is being sucked out. My eyes snap to my parents, noting how they look like they were on the verge of a breakdown. Dad's throat bobs, once, twice, like he was swallowing what he had to say. I grip the material under me, my mind racing. "Raiden," my dad murmurs, voi
Amelia's povMy breath stilled. The woman Alwina calls her mother steps into the room and stops only a foot from the altar. And even though her eyes were clouded, so lifeless in their milky haze, I felt them pin me down harder than the shackles did. It was like she could see right through my soul. A shiver races down my spine. My eyes scan her frail figure, noting that she held a basket with one hand that was empty of two fingers and when I looked at the other hand clutching a piece of stick meant to be a cane, I noticed she was missing three fingers. " Breakable," she rasped, voice really brittle but slicing clean through the room. " It is the weakness in the vessel that will make the transfer clean. It will be hard but bonds can uncling to the unmarked," she turned to Alwina. They were really serious about removing the bond between Raiden and me. Was this even attainable? My gaze dragged over her again, over the missing fingers, over the sunken cheeks, the pale white hair braide
