RIVER
Alright, so here's the thing.
I know making that bet with Anna will get me in a tiny bit of trouble. On one hand, if I lose, I have to deal with whatever Anna comes up with and on the other, if I win, I have to tell my girl I can't hang with her because I'm having to babysit my ex on our Saturday. I probably should have thought it through, but what can I say, I love a challenge and I'll admit, I may not have been thinking with my brain at the time. It doesn't help that Anna's challenge is right up my alley. If she wants me, she'll have to catch me. And I'm here for it.
I'm really not sure if Emily will like the thought of me hanging with my ex all day. I know I'd have a big problem with it. I also know the thought of it, must be driving Michael up the wall. Can't say I don't like that.
So I should just give Anna the win, for Emily's sake. I can't go breaking her heart just
RIVER After my complete meltdown, Blade took me to his room. I'm still heated. He tosses me a bottle of water and I catch it. "Thanks." "No problem." He mumbles. Grabbing one for himself. He leans on his dresser. "Well, this is fucked up." He takes a drink. I nod. "What do I do, Blade?" I play with the bottle in my hands. He shrugs. "What do want to do?" I grip the shelf I'm leaning on, on either side. My knuckles turning white. "I want to fucking murder him." I grit. "Ok. Besides that." Blade sighs. I shake my head. "I mean. This will break them up for sure, but....." Blade sighs. "Emily." I nod. He tilts his head. "It's just a question of who you want more, isn't it." "Emily's amazing, but Anna's my life, Blade. I can't picture myself without her." "But then th
ANNAWith Michael now gone, I'm leading our little group through the dense trees. The pickings are thin as our teams shrink. There's about fifteen yellows left and twelve greens. All three Alphas are also still in play.We jump on a small path and follow its winding trail around a group of trees.I hear a twig snap and motion to Franco and the couple others with us to take cover and be silent. I peek over the bush. I see a body moving, but there's no color to it. It's an Alpha. I can't see which one.I reach into my ammo pack and pull out the red ball."Shit. You got a ball?" One of the guys whispers.I shush him and tell them all to stay put. I sneak around to see who it is. Then it hits me. The familiar woody scent that makes my body melt. I smirk to myself as I load the ball marked with a B into my gun.Whe
RIVERWe're all sitting at our usual table. It's covered in fresh beer bottles and drinks for Casey and Carmen.I tip my beer back as Carmen scowls at me. Shooting daggers through me.I arch a brow. "You gonna stare at me all night?""You know you're an ass, right?" Carmen snapped.I just blink at her. Zeke pulls her into him. "Babe. I told you. It had to happen.""No it didn't." She eyed me with her brow furrowed. "Emily was good for you. How could you just toss her away like that?"I roll my eyes. "I didn't just toss her away. It's complicated...."'Sure....complicated." She scoffs.Zeke gives her a little shake. "Come on. Don't ruin the night, ok. Why don't you and Casey go dance?"She turns to Zeke. "Gladly." She gives him a kiss. As she passes me, she jabs me. "
ANNAThe next two weeks were grueling. Sparring exams, team events. All to show the Alphas what we learned and how we use it. All for our ranks.Today we're are completing our final tests of strength, stamina and team work. After this training session, the Alphas will present our ranks. To say I'm excited is an understatement. It may have been only months, but I feel like I've changed so much in that time. I don't feel like that rebellious biker chick anymore. For once in my life, I feel like I'm a part of something that's bigger than me. And I'm not talking about just the unit. River and I are much bigger than I thought. Together we can bring down anything. We will hold each other up. I never thought I would ever find someone who completed me like David did, but River does that and so much more. I also don't care what the moon says. Fate or not, I'm not letting him go
RIVERI don't think I could ever be happier then what I am right now. I'm back with the love of my life and soon, she'll be mine forever. As I strut into the packhouse Saturday morning, there's a little bounce in my step. I'm on cloud nine and I'm not hiding it.I walk into the dining hall and my dad picks up on my giddy exterior right away."Well, good morning." He says looking up from his food. "You look chipper.""I am chipper." I grin. I sit down at a chair across from him."Ok. I'll bite. What's got you so happy?" He crosses his arms.I load my plate with food. I give another huge grin. "Anna and I are back together."He raises his brow. "Oh? What about all that stuff....."I furrow my brow and wave him off. "We worked it out. I'm just pushing past it. We have bigger things to think about now."
ANNA I stand with my hand on my hips. Looking around my little, white room. The double bed. The brown dresser. The window overlooking the training field. I sigh. So much better to have my own room. It may be small, but finally have my own space. I also get my phone back. I was given a quick tour of the dorms when I arrived this Monday morning. Everything is coed here. Showers, laundry, locker room all shared. We're also allowed more civilian clothes and more functional uniforms like shorts and tanks instead of just pants. I'm unpacking my clothes and piling them up on my bed when I hear a low, hungry growl behind me. I look over my shoulder. Rivers leaning on the open door frame. Arms and legs crossed, smirking. I stand and turn around. "Don't you growl at me mister." I wag my finger at him. He walks in.
RIVER It's been two weeks since Anna agreed to move in with me and I'm loving it. She's fit right in here. With her training complete, we can now focus on us. Oh and she got the spot on the recruitment team as a trainer. So, yeah, we'll be working together too. At the packhouse, I move us into one of the guest wing rooms. They're double rooms. I felt we needed something of our own. Not just my old room.Once I'm Alpha, I'll have Anna design a room for us. Anna's having a great time here too. Her and my dad are like two old friends. They joke around all the time. My dad loves playing pool with her and kicking back with drinks. My mom loves her too. They've spent time gossiping, my mom took her shopping. I just love how well she fits in here. She'll make an amazing Luna. I was just coming downstairs when Anna kicked in the front
ANNAI run into the packhouse. Shaken, breathless"River!" I yell as I run up the stairs."River!!" I yell again. He pops out of the bedroom door. I skid to a stop. My eyes are full of fear. My breathing is fast. His face is full of confusion and concern. "Anna, what's wrong?""It's Michael. He's in trouble." I grab his arm.River ran his fingers through his hair. "Damn it, Anna. Did you go see him after I explicitly told you not to?"I shook my head. Swallowing trying to calm my breathing. "No. He came to me.""What?!" River's eyes changed to rage. "Did he hurt you? What did he do, Anna?!" He grabbed my arms, looking me over."No! River, he didn't touch me. Will you just listen?!" I shrugged his arms off.I told him everything Michael told me."He was t
