Killian’s P

I returned to the slave quarters just as the sun began to set, the sky painted in soft shades of orange and crimson.

My footsteps echoed against the stone floor, slower than usual, the moment I walked into the slaves quarters, everyone froze, it was like time itself stopped.

"Killian!" someone yelled.

Others turned to me, gasps filling the air as they stared at me like I was some kind of ghost.

“Kai,” Theo called from behind. I slowly turned to him, my lips curled into a faint smile.

He rushed to me, pulling me into a hug before I could stop him. Theo was always this emotional freak, we were the complete opposite of each other but we were inseparable, if anything had happened to me, I knew it won't take long for him to snap.

“I thought you were dead,” he said, his voice choked with tears as he released me from his grip.

“Are you crying?” I snorted.

He smiled, wiping his tears. “Do you have any idea how worried I was?” He eyed, removing a dagger from his pants.

A low chuckle escaped from my lips as I saw the dagger. “Is that for Jarek?” I asked, pointing to the dagger.

He laughed, checking out the dagger like he was just seeing it for the first time. “I was almost close,” he revealed.

That was a lie—at least not completely. He ‘almost close’ meant he did move close to Jarek but became a pussy at the last minute, everyone knows he doesn't have the balls to do anything dangerous.

“Yeah, yeah,” I nodded, my voice filled with sarcasm.

He rolled his eyes but didn't push further. “So what happened man, we all thought you were dead.”

"I thought I was dead too," I admitted, a small smile on my face.

"How?" another voice demanded. "How are you alive?"

"I was moved," I said. "Upgraded. I’m no longer a slave, I'm now a sentinel.”

Everywhere went silent, even the wind seemed to have held his breath at that moment. They all stared at me confused.

I don't blame them actually, in the whole history of this pack, it has never been recorded that a slave became anything more than a slave.

"What?" Theo's voice cracked. "Sentinel? But… you’re a slave. That’s not possible."

I shrugged. "It seems everything's changing."

“Things change everyday but there are some things that don't,” Theo insisted. “Do you know how many servants have lost their lives because they went into the Alpha's chamber, not to talk of the slaves, how the hell is this possible?”

“Well, you better believe it, guys,” I said, my voice filled with pride.

“So you are leaving us?” Another small boy said, his voice filled with tears. “The servants would bully us more.”

"I’m still me," I said, taking the boy into my hands. “Don't worry, I would use my position to protect all of you.”

The room erupted with soft cries, nods, even a few smiles. One by one, they touched my arm, my shoulder, like they had to feel it to believe it.

“You’ve made it out, Kai,” Theo said, his voice proud. “And now you’re going to make them see us.”

“I will,” I said. “For all of us.”

The Sentinel quarters were nothing like the slave halls. Wide stone walls, spacious rooms that actually had beds. This place was actually paradise compared to even the servants quarters.

Immediately I walked into the place, everyone turned to me with a disdainful look, some of them were walking away from me like I was some kind of ghost or something.

“He’s the slave,” someone whispered, pointing a finger at me but I wasn't bothered by that.

I have experienced worst.

"What’s he doing here?" someone muttered.

"Did they let dirt into our house?"

"I smell weakness."

I kept walking further, my shoulders were straight. One guy stepped forward and blocked my path.

"You lost, mutt?"

I looked him square in the eye. "No. Just finding my room."

He scoffed, but I moved past him, with no guide, I finally found my room, the last door on the hall.

Inside was a bed, a wooden trunk… and another guy sitting on his bunk, tying his boots.

He looked up, blinked once. "New roommate?"

"Yeah," I replied. "Name’s Killian. Or Kai, if you like short."

"Ruben," he nodded. "Welcome to hell,” he smiled.

He seemed nice and that was scary.

“You must be the slave guy,” he said, still tying his boots. “You must be something special for the Alpha himself to break two laws for you.”

A loud bell rang, echoing through the hall.

"Breakfast," he said, standing. "You’ll want to eat fast before they talk you into a fight."

My stomach growled, as I just realized that I haven't eaten for two days straight, I followed him immediately.

The dining hall was packed. Food lined the tables—bread, roasted meat, fruit. I stepped into line just as a group of three bulky sentinels pushed past.

"Out of the way, trash," one said.

I ignored them, waiting for my turn. I finally grabbed my food, looking for a table. The whole place was packed, everyone sitting in groups, but their eyes were still on me as they whispered among each other.

Luckily I found an empty table in the corner, I slowly walked towards the table, ignoring their piercing gaze.

Just when I sat down, someone threw a bowl of soup at me. Everyone started laughing. My jaw clenched but I didn't turn back, I slowly used my hands to clean the soup off my shirt as if it would make a difference.

“Hey,slave,”  someone shouted from behind.

I scoffed loudly, dropping my spoon angrily in the bowl.

This wasn't going to work. Just when I thought I was going to get a decent meal after two years, some fucker decided to ruin it.

“Hey, dick,” someone called, hitting the back of my head. “Are you deaf?”

I ignored him, taking up my bread and stuffed it in my mouth.

“It's just bread, slave boy,” his hand covered his mouth as if shocked about something. “Do you even know what that was?”

I ignored him, devouring my meal like I had no worries in the world. I have been eating foods not even worthy for a pig for almost two years now, I won't let some dick take away my appetite.

“Hey,” he called, leaning closer. “you don't belong here asshole.”

I inhaled deeply, gulping down my water before turning to him. “I'm here on the alpha's request, are you saying he don't know what he is doing?” I asked, my voice steady and controlled.

The man blinked, turning to his comrade for support but no one moved forward. As if knowing he can't beat me, he turned to a slave boy who was clearing the dishes.

It was Mikel.

The asshole grabbed him by the neck, shoving him to the ground, Mikel groaned in pain but quickly got back up.

Others kept cheering the asshole as he kept hitting Mikel hard in the face. I was on my feet before I knew it and caught his hand mid air before it could hit Mikel again..

"Back off," I barked.

The man turned, sneering "You again? What, you want a beating too? He eyed, jerking his hands away.

I ignored him, turning to Mikel. This boy was just like a magnet to beating, whether it was his fault or not, he never misses a good beating everyday.

“I would help you,” I said to him, helping him pick up the plates on the floor.

The asshole might have thought I was foolish or something, he tried to punch me on my head.

I caught his fist mid air, his bones crushing under my grip. He screamed in pains as he tried to free himself but my grip only tightened which made him scream louder.

“What's going on here?” A loud deep voice said from behind, I slowly turned my head towards the strange man.

I have never seen him before but he looked like he was a man of authority. Ruben stepped forward, signaling me to let the asshole in my clutches go.

I reluctantly obeyed, the asshole scrambled towards the strange man, bowing his head down.

Like I guess he was definitely a man of influence.

“You must be Killian,” the man said, with a faint smile. “I will watch my back if I were you,” he said, his voice steady, he turned and walked away, everyone giving way for him to pass.

Ruben moved closer to me but my eyes were still on the strange man. “You just got here but you already signed your death,” he said, his voice filled with fear.

“Who is that?” I asked, casually.

“That's Zade, he is the best and most feared sentinel we have, if you want to survive here, it's best you don't get on his bad side.”

My lips curled into a faint smirk as I watched him finally disappear into the crowd.

So that was the boss of sentinels, It seems like I have found out the next position to aim for. I turned to Ruben.

“Tell me everything you know about him, and please don't leave out any detail.”

RAVEN'S POVEverything felt like it was crashing down on me. The moment Damien said we were on our own, something inside me snapped. I didn’t know what to think or what to say. I just stood frozen in the same spot, my hands shaking, my heart racing in my chest like a drum that wouldn’t stop. We were fucked. He kept saying we would figure it out. That it would be fine. But it didn’t feel fine. Nothing about this was fine. We were the opposite of fine, we were screwed.“Raven, breathe,” Damien said softly, his hand brushing against my arm. “It’s not over. We’ve been through worse.”“No, we haven’t,” I snapped, stepping back. “This is worse. We are completely screwed, Damien. The Lycan Lord just cut us off from the rest of the world. No one’s going to help us. And the council—” I stopped, my throat tightening. As if summoned by my anger, the council had called for an emergency meeting not even an hour later. The mood in the council hall was as deadly as poison the moment I walked in.

  • She's the Alpha    The breaking point.

RAVEN’S POVI stood by the balcony, my arms folded tight across my chest, trying to keep my thoughts from spiralling. The conversation with Kai kept replaying in my head, and I hated that it did. I didn’t want to believe Damien could do anything like what Kai suggested. Damien had always been there for me. He was the most upright and just man I have met. But yet— somehow Kai's words were enough to shake everything I believe or held about Damien. I hate myself for investigating my best friend because some psycho asked me to but don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t doing this because of Kai. Hell no, Kai was the number one person I couldn't trust. I was doing this because I wanted to prove Kai wrong and also there were too many unanswered questions floating around lately. Some things were not just adding up. I inhaled deeply running a hair through my long hair. I have been so busy lately that I forgot to cut my hair. I looked into the mirror, admiring my feminine look. I wasn't looking that

  • She's the Alpha    The enemy within.

KAI’S POV. I stood under the cover of trees outside the palace, blending into the dark, patiently waiting for Raven to come. The last time we spoke was the day she was returning home from the war. And there was a lot she needed— we needed to catch up to. Raven moved through the shadows skillfully. Black cloak draped over her shoulders, boots soft against the dirt, her hair tied back but still wild like always. She looked around before walking toward me.“You’re late,” I whispered.“Blame the council,” she muttered, brushing a leaf off her shoulder. “They wouldn’t shut up about the fight or should I say the manslaughter your people did.”“I swear I did not know what my brother was planning,” I defended. “If I had known you would have been the first to know.”She raised a hand to silence me. “Save it for the person who wants to hear,” she said coldly. I inhaled deeply, nodding my head. Her anger was justified. I can still remember her face as she buried her dead. “You okay?” I aske

  • She's the Alpha    Back as Gamma.

RAVEN’S POVI stood outside Damien’s door, fingers clenched, stomach tight. After everything, coming here still felt strange… but also necessary.I knocked once. Loud enough so he’d know it was me.A second later, the door opened and there he was — Damien. Hair messy like he hadn’t slept properly, eyes tired, but soft the moment they landed on me.“Raven,” he breathed, like he’d been holding that in for days. “Thank the gods… you’re back.”“Yeah,” I nodded, stepping inside. “Things have been rough after the attack. The elders even tried to chop off my head,” I joked. “Well, I'm glad you are back,” he said with a smile. We went silent for a while. Stealing glances at each other everytime we thought the other wasn't looking. My cheeks on fire from the forced smile.“So how are you doing?” I asked, breaking the uncomfortable silence. “Being hell, but I'm pulling through.”“I heard you’re still doing your Beta duties even after I laid you off. That’s real dedication.”He closed the doo

  • She's the Alpha    A talk on failure.

RAVEN’S POVThe moment we stepped back into the pack, I already knew what was waiting for me.The heavy silence. The cold stares. They were all enough to tell me that the council was really disappointed in me. Well, I didn't care, I had more things to worry about. I walked slowly to the council hall. There was no need to rush, at least not when I know the council were patiently waiting to chop my head off. I finally got to the meeting hall. The guards pushed the doors widely, letting get a view of their angry stare before walking in. “Well,” I breathe, placing my hands on my waist. My eyes swept through the crowd with a casual look. A mixture of disdain and anger etched on their faces. They didn't even bother to acknowledge their Alpha. Rude. “You are all looking at me like I had personally invited the Lycans into our territory,” I scoffed making my way to my seat. “I know I messed up badly but I'm still your Alpha.”Elder Thorne didn’t waste time. “Rowan… you were supposed to p

  • She's the Alpha    A war not won.

RAVEN'S POVThe air split with a sound like the sky had cracked in half. It was a loud, sharp, and terrifying bang. Kai and I froze mid-step, both of us turning at once toward the sound. It wasn’t thunder. It was an explosion and it looked close. My heart slammed in my chest as I grabbed Kai’s arm. “That came from the east.”His eyes widened. “The camp.”Without thinking, I ran towards the direction, my heart pounding loudly in my chest. Every step made the smell of smoke stronger, the sky grew darker, and the heat more unbearable. Screams began to break through the woods.By the time we reached the edge of our secret base, the trees opened to chaos.Flames danced over the rooftops of the smaller barracks. Smoke curled up into the evening sky like black ropes twisting toward the gods. The crackling of fire drowned every other sound until a howl tore through it—one of our own.My jaw dropped open. It was like my soul left me for some seconds but was too scared of the scene so it ret
