LOGINFive years after being publicly rejected by her fated mate, Omega healer Alara has rebuilt her life far from pack territory — hiding her scent, burying her heartbreak, and thriving as the owner of a successful human‑world bakery. But when her brother arrives with a jagged scar and devastating news, everything she escaped comes crashing back. The pack has been attacked. The Luna who replaced her betrayed them. The former Alpha lies critically injured. And the elders have issued a formal summons — one Alara cannot legally refuse. Returning home means facing the ruins of her childhood, the shattered Moon Healing Temple where her grandmother trained her, and the Alpha who destroyed her life. Adrian, once her promised mate, is drowning in guilt, whiskey, and the consequences of choosing the wrong woman. His wolf is unstable, the pack is broken, and only Alara’s rare healing gifts can save them. But Alara is no longer the meek Omega they once controlled. Hardened by rejection and strengthened by five years of independence, she stands toe‑to‑toe with the council, the pack, and the Alpha himself. Her return sparks political tension, family loyalty, and dangerous desire — especially when Adrian’s wolf reacts to her scent and a drunken mistake threatens to bind them again. As Alara trains new healers, uncovers the truth behind the betrayal, and reclaims her power, she must decide whether the pack deserves her… and whether Adrian deserves a second chance. Because forgiveness is a gift of the Moon Goddess — and Alara may not have any left to give.

It was only a matter of time before I would be forced to face him again. Five years of living in the human world masking my scent. Five years of misery, missing my parents and brother. Five years of heart ache after he rejected me for another woman in front of the entire pack. His promises of protecting me, cherishing me and telling me I would be his Luna. Nothing but lies. After Adrian rejected me, I left the pack rejecting the alpha, not my family or my friends. They supported me and were none too happy when he went back on his word to me and chose that she bitch over me. Aldrich, his father the former alpha, was not pleased either but he was unable to change his son’s mind about rejecting me. So I left and never looked back. Five years I built a life for myself. I slowly recovered from the rejection and I and my wolf Sylvie’s bond became that much stronger. I acquired the necessary skills to work in the human world and became successful at what I did and was finally able to open my own bakery. I was in the back when the door sensor alerted me someone had come in to the bakery. A familiar scent wafted above the bread baking and my stomach clenched. It was my brother, Elias. “How the hell did he find me?” I muttered. I wiped my hands and went front to meet him. I came through the double doors and approached the counter. He stood there looking as if he wanted to buy something, but his scent and posture said otherwise. He raised his head up and looked at me. That’s when I saw the jagged scar on his left cheek. I hissed when I saw it. “Who the hell did that?” I asked. “The family was attacked two weeks ago,” he said. I looked at him coolly. “And what has that got to do with me?” He waited until my assistant had finished. “Luna Sarena sold us out. Alpha Aldrich is critically injured. It took me this long to find you to let you know, Alara.” I looked at my brother with a steely gaze. I did not want to be harsh with him, but he was the Adrian's Beta and I knew why he was here. To bring me back and perform my healing duties for Alpha Aldrich. “The pack has plenty of healers that are capable to heal the old alpha.” My brother winced when I said that. He knew I had caught the lie. I knew immediately that the old dog was alright. That had been the lure to bring me into Adrian’s trap. “Brother, the truth. Spit it out now or leave and never bother me with family business again.” His next words were rushed. “It’s true the Luna betrayed us and when Alpha Aldrich found out, he went berserk and killed her without trial. He also suffered critical wounds in the fight.” The she‑bitch got what she deserved. Karma can be quite cold. “Alara, Adrian knows he was wrong when he rejected you, his fated mate. He has not been himself since your rejection or that bitch’s betrayal.” His eyes plead with mine to come back with him. Another customer comes in and I go over to them and hand them their order and take payment. I make my brother wait for my answer. I let my assistant off for lunch and lock the front of the store and turn off the open sign. “And again what has any of what happened with the family have to do with me?” I asked again. “The pack needs you. Most of the healers were killed protecting the Moon Healing Temple. And… Adrian wants your forgiveness,” he said. Sylvie’s hackles rise and it makes me stiffen my spine. My brother flinches as he feels her aura for the first time. “Forgiveness!? He betrayed his oaths to me, he rejected me at our mating ceremony and he wants to ask for my forgiveness? The Moon Goddess only blesses you once in a lifetime a fated mate, Elias. I will probably never get a chance at a second fated mate.” He winces as I and Sylvie rage at what that bastard Adrian wanted from me. I continued my tirade, my brother taking the full brunt of my pain and suffering those first two years after I had left. “Two years Sylvie wanted to die because of him. Two years I fought to keep her alive after the rejection. I finally now have some peace with what I have built and you come in here as his beta, not my brother, and ask me to come back and forgive him. I would think, Elias, that you would support me over him. I’m blood, not obligation.” He lowers his head as I remind him that family always came first with us. I stride over to the door of the bakery and unlock it. I sharply look at him and point to the door. “Beta, return to your alpha. Tell him if he wants forgiveness, then he needs to speak with the Moon Goddess herself. I have none to give him. Now… GET OUT AND NEVER COME BACK.” I may be an omega, but Elias knows when to stop pushing me. His shoulders sag in defeat. He knows Adrian is not going to like the fact that I refused his summons. I really don’t give a damn.Patricia. m Chapter 12 -- A New DayThe smell of breakfast hits me halfway down the hall—eggs, sausage, fresh bread, and something sweet my mother only makes when she’s stressed. Sylvie perks up inside me, tail flicking. She’s worried, Sylvie says. She always worries. Not like this.I push open the dining hall door.My parents sit at the long table, close together, speaking quietly. My mother’s eyes soften the moment she sees me. My father’s shoulders drop a fraction—his version of relief. Elias sits beside them, posture alert, eyes scanning the room the way he always does.“Morning, sweetheart,” my mother says, voice warm but edged with concern.I sit beside her. She slides a plate toward me without a word. I start eating immediately. My body needed this more than I realized.“You slept?” my father asks, studying me the way he studies wounded wolves—checking for breaks that aren’t visible.“Enough.”He nods. He doesn’t push. He never pushes unless it’s life or death. The dining
Chapter 11 — Aftermath I stay in the ruins long after Alara walks away. Drago presses under my skin, pacing, restless, wanting to go after her even though he knows we can’t. The night settles around me heavy and cold. The pack is still behind me, silent and tense, but I can’t turn around. I’m not ready to see whatever’s in their eyes. I’m not ready to see whatever’s in mine.Alara’s terms replay in my head, each one landing with steady weight. Drago growls at every one of them, not in anger—just in the frustration of knowing we earned this. She didn’t come back for me. She didn’t come back for forgiveness. She came back because the pack is falling apart and someone has to hold it together. And that someone isn’t me.I finally force myself to move. The wolves shift out of my path, not with respect but with uncertainty. They felt the shift. They know things changed. They’re waiting to see what I do next. Drago is silent now, watching them through my eyes, judging me harder than any of
Chapter 10 — Terms of Survival The ruins are quiet. Not silent—quiet. The kind of quiet that comes after a storm, when everything is still deciding whether it survived. The air hangs heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and old stone, as if the land itself is holding its breath. Shadows cling to the broken walls, stretching long and thin across the training grounds like scars.I stand in the center of the broken training grounds, the same place I once bled for this pack. The same place they let me fall. The same place they watched me walk away five years ago. The memories rise like ghosts, brushing against my skin, reminding me of every bruise, every betrayal, every silence that hurt worse than claws. Now they watch me again.I feel their eyes from the shadows. Wolves lingering at the edges, unsure whether to approach or flee. Unsure what I am now. Unsure what I will demand. Their bodies are tense, ears angled forward, tails low. They’re waiting for something—permission, punishm
Chapter 9 — What You BrokeShe walked past me.Not a glance. Not a pause. Not a flicker of recognition.Just… nothing. The same nothing she felt when our bond snapped five years ago. The same nothing that hollowed out my chest and left Drago silent for months. The same nothing that has been eating me alive ever since.I stand in the doorway long after she’s gone, fingers tightening around the frame until the wood creaks. The courtyard is dim now, shadows stretching long across the broken training fields. Wolves move around me, but none speak. None interrupt. None dare. They saw her. They felt her. And they felt me break all over again.Drago stirs, a low rumble in the back of my mind. You did this.“I know.”She doesn’t want you.“I know.”She shouldn’t.That one hurts more than the others.I step back into the pack house, shutting the door behind me. The sound echoes through the hall, sharp and final. I walk toward my office, each step heavier than the last. The bottle of w
