As the most well-known weather forecaster in the city, my forecasts were always wrong. Over time, everyone caught on. In this city, whether it rained or snowed depended entirely on the emotions of Cody Harper's lover. One moment, I'm on air announcing "moderate to heavy snow," but the next, the clouds in the sky parted and cleared. My boss openly mocked me. "You used to be the most popular presenter at our station, but not anymore, huh? Your husband’s throwing money around to manipulate the weather. What's the point of you reporting the forecast?" A coworker ruthlessly added, "I heard her husband's new lover doesn't like the cold, so there probably won't be any snow in the city for half a year. I think she's gonna be hit with a lot of fines." Clutching over a dozen penalty notices, I remained silent. When I got home, I tossed the penalty notices at Cody expressionlessly. "Clean up your own mess. I'm tired of being Mrs. Harper. I quit."

Chapter 1

Cody was stunned at first, but he then smiled whimsically.

"Are you taking out your anger on me because it didn't snow today, so you feel embarrassed?"

"I’m serious, I want a divorce," I emphasized, word by word.

Sensing the abnormality in my voice, the nasty smile on the man's face gradually faded.

Even the maid serving him tea didn’t dare to move.

After a few seconds of silence, Cody broke it with a cold scoff.

"Jenny, I thought you were used to it by now. You don’t want a repeat of what happened three years ago, do you?"

My mind drifted back to the incident three years ago.

In front of the massive screen, I was reporting clear weather across the city, reminding the citizens to apply sunscreen. Meanwhile, Cody was spending a fortune on artificial rain to please a nightclub hostess.

Dark clouds filled the sky, and I became the most pathetic weather queen in the city.

My boss scolded me so harshly I couldn't lift my head. I received the first fine of my career.

I caused quite a scene after that, storming into the nightclub and smashing a bottle over the hostess's head.

Cody lounged on the couch, watching my meltdown in silence.

Not long after that, I learned that my mother got into a car accident while she was rushing over to comfort me and she would be paralyzed for life.

I broke down, crying and screaming.

Cody calmly told me, "Patience is a virtue that is necessary for my wife. You didn’t understand before, so I taught you a lesson. You'll definitely understand it now."

I opened my mouth but found no voice.

That incident cut at my heart every day like a knife.

Seeing me silent, Cody softened his tone. He casually pointed to the pile of shopping bags on the coffee table and said, "As long as you know your place, you can have all the expensive things you want, Mrs. Harper. What reason do you have to be unhappy?"

With a nod, the maid revealed a high-end dress.

Various high fashion clothes and limited edition bags that women would kill for were in my closet.

But I alone knew that all this was merely compensation for his infidelity.

Wearing them felt no different from being paraded around.

I coldly laughed and splashed coffee onto the gown.

Gasps echoed around me.

Cody looked at the stains that accidentally got onto his clothes and lost his patience with me.

"Enough, Jenny!"

A cup of hot tea splashed onto me, instantly causing blisters on my skin.

The pain made my fingers curl and my scalp tingle.

His breath caught, but the fierceness in his eyes remained unchanged.

"Sydney is now an intern at your station. I hope you can mentor her. Even if you won't, I can make her famous anyway."

His gaze shifted to my awards, his eyes filled with warning.

He had plenty of means to force a woman like me, who valued honor as highly as my own life, to obey him.

Suppressing my bitterness, I replied with a smile, "Sure."

Surprise flickered in his eyes before a phone call interrupted him. When he spoke into the phone, his tone instantly softened.

"Okay, I'll be there in a minute."

After hanging up, he strode away.

Watching his unconcealed excitement, I wiped away tears and called my college senior who was a lawyer.

"Help me with the divorce. I’ll fulfill our five-year agreement."
