Thirty Nine

Once there was a little girl, Amy, whose grandfather had just died. She had loved him very much I missed him terribly. He was buried in a cemetery just a few hundred yards from her house, and she could see his grave for her bedroom window.

One night, her parents were going out and the baby sitter hadn't arrived. She was a very reliable sitter, so, trusting she would soon arrive, they kissed Amy goodbye and left. Hours passed and the babysitter had still not arrived. Amy began to worry. A storm was brewing outside. Thunder and lightning moved closer to the house and the wind started howling. Suddenly there was a flash of lightning and the power in the house went off, leaving Amy in darkness. The wind ripped the trees around and branches broke off, crashing against the house and falling to the ground. Alone in the dark, Amy was very scared.
