Salome’s POV

“Are you finally ready to give me an answer, or do I need to keep waiting?”

The voice drifted through the dark room before I even saw the shadow move. I kept my eyes closed, feigning sleep, but my heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird. My skin felt tight. The air in the apartment was cool, yet I felt flushed, as if a fever had taken hold of me the moment he walked into my space.

I turned over, facing the door. Jeremiah stood there, his robe loosely tied at his waist. H

  • Signed, Sealed, I’m Rich: The Rejected Luna’s Multi-Billion    Chapter 303

Salome POV"Move," a man barked, shoving past my shoulder.I stumbled. The raw wood of the crutches dug straight into my armpits.A sharp shot of white-hot pain fired down my arms.My fingers went totally numb.I gripped the plastic handles harder."Watch it," a woman muttered, her shopping bag clipping my bad ankle.I gasped. The agony flared like boiling water inside my boot.My heel throbbed with a heavy, steady pulse.I dragged my left leg forward. The metal tips scraped against the concrete pavement. They made a high, grating screech.Nobody cared. The city crowd just swarmed around me like ants.I took one more shaky step.My arms shook under my own weight.I stopped right in the middle of the pavement.A man in a grey suit glared at me.He veered hard to the left to avoid hitting my crutch.I ignored him.I shuffled backward until my spine hit cold glass. It was an empty shopfront. The glass felt freezing against the fabric of my wet shirt. My skin was covered in a thick layer

  • Signed, Sealed, I’m Rich: The Rejected Luna’s Multi-Billion    Chapter 302

Salome POV"When do you think my ankle injury will heal?"I keep my eyes locked on Jay, refusing to look at the man standing right behind him. The air in the tiny examination room feels heavy, thick with the smell of antiseptic and the suffocating presence of my ex-husband.Jay freezes, a fresh ice pack clutched in his hand. He looks between me and the shadow looming near the door."If you stay off it for a couple of days, elevate it, and keep it iced, it should be fine by Monday," Jay says. His voice is steady, but I catch the quick twitch of his jaw. He steps closer, blocking my view of Barnabas. "But you must not try to walk on it right now. You are much more likely to injure it further. If you put weight on it while the ligaments are weak, you might actually break the bone."I force my lips to stretch into something resembling a smile. It feels like plastic. It feels like a grimace."I promise I will be careful," I say."You could recover a lot better if you quit your job," Barnab

Salome POV"Breathe through it, Salome," Jay said. His thumbs dug into the skin around my lateral malleolus. He was trying to be gentle. His palms were warm. The heat did not help.Every tiny press sent a direct current of agony straight up my shin.My teeth locked together.I gripped the edge of the black vinyl examination table. My fingernails punctured the fabric."You are doing exceptionally well," Jay murmured. He shifted his weight. His thumb slid a millimetre to the left.My lungs seized. The urge to scream tore at the back of my throat.I did not let it out.I kept my spine completely straight.I forced my facial muscles to remain smooth.Jay rubbed the swollen tissue again. He did not know.He had no idea that my vision was fading to grey at the edges."Most people scream during this part," Jay said.He wiped sweat from his own forehead."I had a rugby player in here last week. He wept. He literally begged for his mother."I did not answer.Speaking required oxygen.Oxygen re

Jeremiah POVThe secretarial pool is entirely empty by five o'clock, but her desk looks like a bomb went off.Her notebook is wide open. Her silver pen is rolling near the edge of the mahogany. Her mobile phone is sitting right next to the keyboard, the screen lighting up every few minutes with a text message from a number I do not recognise.I pick the phone up. The glass is warm.I run my thumb over the screen, my mind flashing back to the way she tasted less than two hours ago. Her lips were soft, yielding, completely different from the sharp, professional mask she wears every morning. I had crossed the line. I knew it the second my hands found her hips, but I could not stop."Sir?"I snap around. Benedict is standing at the entrance of the cubicle, a stack of grey folders tucked against her ribs. She looks at the phone in my hand, then at my face. Her eyes go wide."Where is she?" I ask. My voice is too loud for the empty floor."She went home," Benedict says, taking a step back.

Salome POV"Get in the car before you pass out on the tarmac," Benedict says, pushing the heavy glass doors open with her shoulder.I grip the metal handles of my crutches. The rubber pads dig hard into my armpits. Every step forward sends a sharp, hot needle straight up my left leg."I can handle it," I say."You can barely stand," Benedict says. She grabs my canvas tote bag before it slides off my shoulder. "This is a medical emergency. Jeremiah will just have to deal with it.""He will fire me," I say. My voice cracks."He will not fire you," Benedict says, guiding me towards the passenger side of my small hatchback. "I will walk straight into the executive suite and hand the paperwork to HR myself. Do not worry about Jeremiah."A hot, pathetic wave of tears stings the backs of my eyes. I blink rapidly, staring down at the grey concrete of the multi-storey car park."You do not have to do this," I say."Us girls have to stick together," Benedict says. She opens the car door for me,

Salome’s POV"Of course you can stay here, sweetheart. You are my daughter, and I would love to have you home," my mother said. Her voice through the phone was the warmest thing I had felt all day."Thanks, Mom. That means everything," I replied, leaning back in my office chair. The weight in my chest loosened. I knew then that I had made the right call. I needed the quiet of my childhood bedroom and the smell of my parents' kitchen. We talked for a few more minutes about nothing important, just the small details of home life that made me feel human again. I realized I had stayed away far too long. By the time we hung up, I actually felt like I could breathe.I reached for my laptop and slid it into my leather bag, pulling the zipper shut with a satisfying click. I was ready to vanish for the weekend. But then I looked up and saw Benedict. She was walking toward my desk with a tight, apologetic expression. It was the look people wore right before they dropped a bomb on your lap.I let

Salome’s POV"You look like you're drowning in paperwork, Barnabas," I said, my voice as smooth as the polished mahogany of his desk.I didn't wait for an invitation. I just walked in. The door clicked shut, sealing us in the quiet of the Alpha’s office. I kept my face neutral, a perfect mask of the

Clementine’s POV“I love Salome,” Barnabas said. The words hung in the air like a bad joke. He whispered them as if they were a holy confession, his voice cracking just enough to make me want to gag. I stared at him, my hands tightening into fists at my sides. I th

Salome’s POV“Does it sting when I apply the pressure here?”Healer Beatrice moved my head to the side with a light touch. The room smelled like lemon cleaner and old herbs. I sat on the hard paper of the exam table while she dabbed at the jagged red line near my hairline.“I’m fine, Beatrice. It’s

Salome’s POV“Come on, just one more,” Portia said, though her voice lacked its usual sweetness. “I’m only starting to find my rhythm.”I looked at her, then shifted my gaze to Barnabas. He remained a statue, refusing to meet my eyes. Margot stood off to the side, her arms crossed and her mouth set
