Liora’s P.O.V.

Well, obviously!

This was my grandparents' place, so when they sent everyone to the guest rooms, I thought Cassian would prefer to be alone and rest. It didn’t cross my mind that he would just wait for them to go to their rooms and come here.

Feeling happy and startled at once, I nodded because my voice had completely deserted me.

Cassia looked exhausted, but the moment he reached me, warmth settled in my chest. His presence alone calmed a restless part of my soul. He shrugged off his coat, movements slow and casual, as if breaking into my room at night was perfectly normal for a king.

Then he sat on the edge of my bed, pulled off his shoes, and exhaled softly. He didn’t utter a single word, and still, my heart was a wild, uncomfortable mess.

My eyes followed his hands as he reached for the blanket and tugged it gently up to my shoulders, tucking me in. Then he leaned forward, close enough for his breath to warm my cheek.
