The Scent Of Another Alpha

Alex’s POV

I was scared thinking I had lost my Lucas forever, but I was glad he forgave me. It was obvious he still wanted me in his life, so I would keep trying until he agreed that he was mine alone. I couldn't wait to mark him.

“Boss, is there any other gift you wish to add to the box?” Peter asked me.

“No, that will be all. Make sure he receives it, and don’t let him see your face.”

“Yes, boss. I will take my leave now.” Peter bowed his head and left my office just as Sophie entered with a mocking smile.

Now I regretted even telling her about the hidden cameras I set up in Lucas's home that got exposed.

“My dearest psycho of a brother,” she teased, taking a seat with her legs crossed.

“Why are you here, sister? Don’t you have bikes to fix?”

“Unfortunately, I have no pending bikes to fix, so I decided to check on my brother who was sulking... all because he was a psycho thinking the precious omega he's hiding from us would finally leave him. But come to think of it, I should report you to the police for invading someone's privacy. You're insane, brother. Who in their right mind does that?” She let out a wicked smile, clearly enjoying herself.

“You want to lecture me? You think I don’t know your cute omega ditched you after that one-night stand? Rumors reached me that you're currently paying money to search for her. I wonder if we'll go bankrupt soon.” I got back at her with an even wider grin.

“Go to hell, brother, and burn there.” Her face instantly changed in rage, knowing I was aware of what she had been up to.

“Be my guest, so we can burn in hell together, sister. So tell me, what brings you here?” I asked, wanting to find out why she chose to visit me at the company today.

“Can’t I come see my brother? I was worried you might still be sulking.”

“Nice try, but lying looks horrible on you. Tell me sister, why are you really here? Did Father send you? I already agreed I would attend the party, so what more does he want from me?”

“我知道，欧米伽永远都不会接受你,” she said in Chinese, meaning, I understand why the omega will never accept you.

“At least my omega agreed to be my plus one. You failed to get yours to agree because after just one night, she couldn't handle your silly character.”

“YOU!”

“What? You started it.”

“You're such a cold monster. But anyway, Grandpa sent an invitation. He wants us to have dinner with him tonight at 8 PM. He requested for you especially.” She delivered the news.

“Is that why you came here? You could have just called and said it over the phone, sent a voice note, or composed a text message.”

“You're such an ungrateful idiot. You think I didn't know about those options? I’m not dumb, you know. I just wanted to plead with you in person not to let your emotions get the best of you when we get there tonight.”

“What do you mean?”

“He is going to be there.” Her voice suddenly dropped from playful teasing to a serious tone.

“Who?”

“Zheng… he is going to be there.”

Hearing his name, I froze for a moment, trying hard not to let rage consume me.

“Are you okay?”

Why did that bastard return?

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath to suck it in, and forced a smile toward my sister. “You worry for nothing, sister. I have no business with him anymore. It’s just dinner.”

“Are you sure?”

“I just remembered I have a meeting starting now. I believe you know where the exit is if you want to leave.”

“You silly boy.”

I lost my mood for the rest of the day. No matter what I did, I couldn't pull myself together. Why did I have to hear his name again?

How I wished I could turn down Grandpa's dinner, but that was impossible.

I decided to call my cutie, hoping to release some stress, but he wasn't answering. A smile found its way to my lips anyway—he must have gotten the gift and was probably fuming at me right now.

Since I was done for the day, I decided to pay him a surprise visit at his office.

In less than thirty minutes, I was at his company. As I got closer to his office door, the sweet, heavy scent of his omega pheromones hit my nose. Don't tell me he failed to use his suppressant patches to hide his secret this time? How could he be so careless?

The moment I pushed the door open and stepped into his office, the thick scent of his heat rushed over me. But right underneath his sweet smell, another scent hit my nose—the strong, heavy scent of another S-class Alpha.

My Alpha instincts went wild. Anger and intense jealousy flared through my veins as I rushed straight to his side on the couch. He was lying there, his shirt sleeve buttons undone, panting and flushed from the heat.

“Why are you here? Get lost,” he muttered the moment he opened his eyes.

“Who was in here with you?” I grabbed his wrist tight, my own Alpha pheromones bursting out of me in a dark wave to cover his room.

“Who do you think you are? You just ruined my sleep! You can’t just walk into my office unannounced!” He tried to strike me, but I grabbed both of his hands, forced them above his head, and pinned them to the couch.

I leaned in close, my breath hot against his skin, growling with jealousy. “Why am I smelling another Alpha all over you?”
