Kylie's POV (cont'd)

There would be no hope for my race, or for anyone else.

I had important information I needed to pass on to someone from my kind. Elijah, or just anyone, to prevent us from getting exterminated.

And if they caught me?

That would become impossible.

And not just that. I’d seen the way they looked at those hearts, how proud they were to turn my kind into a meal, to put our heart into a plate like a five-star delicacy, and our blood into a jar.

I could feel their footsteps now. They never felt this close, like they were just a hair length away.

Panic clawed at my throat. My breaths came out in shallow gasps, clouding in the freezing air.

My vision blurred; not from tears, but from me pushing myself to my very limit.

My body wasn’t built like theirs.

I wasn’t bred to run like this.

I was built to survive.

Then there were three paths ahead of me: left, right, and the middle.

Without hesitation, I darted left, heart pounding, head spinning.

Just keep moving. Don’t st

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 66: Nightmare (Meeting Cole, then Lucy)

Kylie’s POVBefore I could dwell any longer, the doorbell rang."I'll go check," I said, walking toward the door. But the face I saw through the peephole made me stiffen.Cole...Cole King. And what was that in his hand? Flowers...My heart pounded, not with the usual love, but with something way more different. Like… disgust?I swallowed, chasing away that brief feeling.No. That can’t be.How could I feel disgusted by my own fiancé and mate? How? It was all because of that dream again.“Ky?” Mom’s voice snapped me out of it, and I opened the door.A smile spread across his lips as our gazes met. He handed me the flowers. “For you.”I forced a smile as I took the bouquet. Lavender and daisies, my favorites.“Thanks,” I murmured, stepping aside so he could come in.Cole leaned in to kiss my cheek, but I turned a little too fast, pretending not to notice. My heart still hadn’t settled. I couldn’t even look at him properly.I saw the flash of confusion in his eyes, but he said nothing.

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 65: Nightmare (2) > Karla's Idol

Kylie's POVI splashed some water on my face. It was cold, but I didn't flinch at its sudden contact, because right now, it was all I needed to feel alive. The water dripped down my jaw and soaked the edge of my shirt, but I had no time to care about it.I looked up at the mirror, staring at this version of myself with dead, dull eyes.It hurt.I pressed my hand to my chest, just over my heart. It wasn’t a sharp pain. More like a tight, heavy feeling that made it hard to breathe properly. It was as if... I didn't belong here. And this ache... was the one telling me everything I needed to know.I shook my head, brushing my hair aside as I continued splashing myself with water, hoping it’d distract from that ache, even if just for a second. But it didn’t.If anything, it got worse. In the end, I found myself muttering.'That miserable life was just a nightmare. It will never happen. Dad loves Mom so much, and so did Mom. They would never break up. He would never lay his finger on us. He

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 64

Kylie's POVI had a long dream.A very long one.I saw Mom. My Mom. She was standing in the kitchen, her lips curled into a smile as she cut the fish.I stared dazedly at her, lost in a trance. Feeling my gaze, she turned, her eyes lighting up, and her voice was gentle with warmth. "Ky, you're awake."I felt myself nodding. Her smile widened, and she winked at me. "I'm making your favourite fish soup. Go brush your teeth, it'll be done soon."I continued staring at her. She was as beautiful as an angel, and she was my angel. But how many years had it been since I last saw her?Almost a decade.Had her face wrinkled, or was she still as young as ever? Did she grow chubbier like she always wanted?I wanted to ask her everything, how she’d been, if she was happy, if she still loved dancing. I also wanted to tell her I’d learned to dance to her favourite pop songs. But my throat felt thick, clogged with emotions I couldn’t explain. The words stuck in my throat like a fishbone, and I co

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 63: Elara's heartbreak

Third Person POVIt had been almost two hours since Elijah’s message arrived.Everyone was relieved, especially Barkov. The tension in his chest finally loosened. After all, he knew his friend had feelings for this girl, and judging from his efforts alone, it was obvious this wasn’t just a casual interest.Thank the goddess they’d brought a tent. It was already set up, and the Gamma warriors had gone off to hunt some small game for everyone to chew on. Right now, Barkov was crouched low before the damp pile of wood, brows furrowed, sighing again. His efforts had proven futile, but he had no choice but to strike the flint once more, hoping it would work this time. However, the wet ground was just making it impossible.A few sparks flew, but the kindling only hissed and spat out smoke, refusing to catch. Barkov muttered a curse under his breath. The drizzle earlier had left everything soggy, and this was proving harder than he expected.Just as he was about to sigh again, he heard foots

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 62: He Came

Kylie's POVHis eyes were sharp as blades. Those blue irises shone with a calmness that somehow still carried intimidation. But at the sight of me, they seemed to soften. Why did it feel like centuries had passed since I last saw him?Everything felt surreal, so unbelievable that a part of me wondered if I’d dreamed this. Maybe I’d made it all up, created a hallucination to distract myself from my current critical condition. But it didn’t really seem like a dream. Not really. He looked real, too real. His eyes were still gentle, his brows softly arched...Then he approached me.I raised my head, eyes following every movement he made. He crouched down in front of me, until we were eye-level.“You’re safe now,” he said, his voice calm like water, so gentle and smooth... It somehow felt like... Home.****Third Person POVKylie broke. The moment Elijah spoke, her body gave out, not from pain or injury, but from sheer relief. He is real. Her body loosened. Tension disappearing from her
