"Yo!" I shouted along with my friends as we clinked the cup against each other.

I gulped down some of the beer before looking up at Darren who was busy teasing one of the girls he recently met in the bar.

"I heard you visited Matthew." Billy started a conversation and I smiled a little. "How's he feeling now?" He asked as if concerned.

"I don't know," I replied sipping the remains of the beer in the cup.

"And if your dad asked about him?" Mark chimed in.

"I'd probably say he is still lying in the hospital and will get discharged next week," I answered.

"Whoa... You hospitalized him for that long?" Billy arched an eyebrow.

"I think it's not because I approached him," I say. "He seemed to have a health issue," I told them remembering the heart monitor in Matt's ward. "And will you guys quit asking me Matthew-related questions?" I rolled my eyes at them as Darren walked back to our table.

"How's it going guys." He sat beside me.

"How'd it go with the lady?" Mark asked back and we all quickly took a glimpse at the two ladies sitting opposite us, while one of the ladies blushed at me.

"It went well... Y'all know, I don't fail with making lady feel on top of the world." Darren bragged. "Unlike Keith who only teases a lady and never gets to make them feel special." He adds in.

"When I talk to any lady, they already feel special," I smirked at him.

"What's up with the plan for your birthday?" Mark asked me to change the topic since he knew if I and Darren went on arguing about who was good at this or that, we might end up leaving here the next day.

"I haven't even thought about that." I shrugged aware that each of my birthdays is always celebrated massively thanks to my friends who always end up convincing my dad that it's just a low-key birthday party but it never turned out as we promised.

"Aren't you planning on celebrating your birthday then?" Billy inquired pouring us another cup of beer.

"Of course. Birthdays are meant to be celebrated." I say clinking the cup with Darren. "But it would be hard convincing my dad this time." I sipped the beer.

"Why?" Darren asked after sipping from his cup.

"Remember the problem we had to go through because of Mark?" Billy responded and we all fixed our gaze at Mark who was pretending as though he didn't know what we were talking about.

"Fool." I cussed rolling my eyeballs against Mark while I tried not to remember the scene where Billy and I caught Mark trying to make out with his girlfriend in the lobby even though we had made it a warning that no sex. We tried to keep it a secret from any other person including my dad but he found out through my brother who saw Mark as well.

"You dumbass." Darren cussed sipping from the cup along with me.

"It's now in the past guys. And it was really, an honest mistake." Mark spoke. "And Jude is the real dumbass here, he was the one who ranted me out."

"Yeah, my brother always proves to be the devil." I smacked my lips.

"Then how do we go about convincing your dad such will not repeat?" Billy asked, he was the one my dad trusted the most among my friends.

"Should I apologize to---" Before Mark could complete his words, Billy who was sitting next to him smacked the back of his head.

"Apologize?" Billy scorned.

"Apologise my foot." Darren scoffed and Mark pouted innocently.

We had the rest of the night to ourselves, drinking our lungs out sure enough not to get drunk since we all have a reputation to protect since neither of our parents held a high position in the church.

We were all picked up by our drivers and I had to spray perfume on my body to not reek of alcohol when I met my dad.

During the drive, I leaned my head on the headrest, my eyes shut and my mind was fixed on nothing in particular except the fact that I was wondering why I always get tired of every lady I met within a short time.

I had lost count of the ladies I always met every weekend or even weekday. I wouldn't call them my ex because I've never asked any of them out, probably I'm meant to only catch fling for the rest of my life.

"We're here, sir." My driver called out.

I opened my eyes, unfastening my seatbelt before alighting from the car.

I strolled to our compound and the living room before meeting with Jude, sitting and watching breaking news like some old papa in their late seventies.

"You must be out drinking," Jude said not sparing me a look.

"No. I was out reading the holy Bible." I replied sarcastically.

"Dad is in his study room. He demands to see you." Jude informed me still staring at the TV.

I strode to the staircase climbing on it before walking to the second hallway leading to my Dad's study room.

I knocked on the room door before walking in.

My Dad was seated on the swivel chair, with reading glasses on him, he was going through some documents as I walked closer to him and he raised his head at me.

"Hi, Dad," I called.

"How was your day?" He asked.

"Good, and yours?" I asked back.

"You know how it always went." He replied putting off his eyeglasses. "I hope you haven't forgotten your schedule for tomorrow?" He inquired and I quickly searched my brain for tomorrow's event still putting on a calm look while my half-drunken state couldn't process what I was to do tomorrow.

"Uh..." I stammered.

"You volunteered to help with other church members at the orphanage home tomorrow." My dad reminded me.

"Oh!" I let out a surprised gasp. I did?

"Two. PM tomorrow, you should meet with Mrs.Harry. My dad said and I sighed. "You visited her son today?"

"Yes, I did Dad," I replied feeling a little bit tipsy.

"How's he doing?"

"Good. I gave him the flowers and---"

"Good?" He interrupted me with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, I found out he will get discharged next week," I spoke about concluding my meeting with him.

"You should visit him until he gets discharged then." My dad said in an order and I looked confusedly at him.

"Huh. Haven't you gone back to school?" I raised my eyes at Leah who walked towards me, smiling suspiciously."I should have. But I had to escort someone back here." Leah replied."What do you mean?" I inquired."Keith is paying a visit," Leah told me smilingly."Visit? To whom?" I arched an eyebrow. "To me?" I asked surprisingly and she nodded."I thought you weren't friends." Leah scorned glaring playfully at me."Why? Why would he visit me?" I asked with curiosity."Should I let him in?" Leah asks instead."Of course wait... Wait." I tried to catch my breath.Imagining a whole Keith visiting me... I blushed secretly.I hope he gets to touch me again, I prayed brushing my blushing self away. "Yes," I answered Leah's last question, trying to look calm."Alrighty, I'll be on my way to school then." Leah strode out of the ward while I adjusted myself on the bed, using my fingers to smoothen my hair and licking my lower lips as if the act would make me look cuter at the sight of Keith.

"When tomorrow comes, you should go and visit him," my dad said, giving me instructions. "Don't make that kind of mistake again," he added. "You should be grateful that none of the students blamed you for what happened." He dismissed me after that.As I left my father's office, I exhaled and leaned against the door. With my eyes closed, I let out a breath of relief. The memory of Matthew fainting replayed itself in my head and I felt how scared I had become then trying my best to revive him and how he had laid motionless on the ground. It's been over four hours since the incident happened but it felt as if it happened minutes ago.The school had to close for the day because of how students were talking about the accident especially when it was concerning me and the students had seemed unfocused in class which had made my dad call off school for that day.Even though I had been responsible for the large crowd that had been staring at him, I knew I needed to apologize in person as my da

As I slowly opened my eyes there came a headache.I groaned, blinking rapidly, using my palm to press my forehead. With the smell and aura, I knew I was in a hospital as I rested my back on the pillow, sitting comfortably on the bed, still moaning at the headache."Matt!" Leah and Ruth stood up reaching for my hand."Are you okay?" Ruth asked with a worried look."Of course, I am," I replied with a small smile, still feeling my head spinning."You should have obeyed Dad when he instructed you not to come to school today!" Leah said and I shrugged a bit."I fainted because I forgot to use my drugs early." I chimed in."Of course, that's not the cause. Isn't it because of Keith?" Ruth fired."Please, it's not Keith's fault... He was only trying to get friendly with Matt." Leah defended and Ruth scoffed."I see you prefer your crush to your brother, huh?" I said jokingly."Come on, of course not," Leah said hitting me playfully."Where am I?" I finally asked, even though I knew I was in

"You don't want the teachers calling your parents because of that." I warned Mark who recently joked about ' what if some gay are crushing on me' when technically he knows that, I hate that word.Somehow I looked back at my seatmate who was reading a billionaire romance novel and I stopped myself from wondering if he never got bored from reading girly novels. I was about to ask my friend the same question when he suddenly raised his face to look at me.His hazel eyeballs pierced into mine, while I stared comfortably at him expecting him to greet me, the great Keith Schuler because a normal person would say "Yo! What's cooking." Instead, he would run away with his face as if he just saw a ghost which he did just now."I guess he needs a brain check," Mark said seeming to have noticed the usual act of the hazel-eyed guy whom I can't even remember his name."Why would you say that? He is just a shy person." Bill said."Why in the world would a guy be shy?" I disagreed unmindful whether h

"Leah!" I shouted again running towards my sisters who stopped on their track glancing at me while I stopped running, striding over to their side, and trying to catch my breath."What are you doing here?" Ruth fired as I got closer to them."Weren't you instructed by Dad not to come to school today?" Leah added in."Well, I convinced him," I say standing at their front. "And I remembered we'd be having the midterm exam in our class today," I replied finally having control of my breath."Are you that careless?" Ruth fired. "You had a chest pain yesterday, and you're back running today?" She added with a concerned look."Well, I couldn't possibly miss school because of that." I smiled. "Besides I took my meds along with me," I assured."You know moving around concerning your health is risky. Not even to talk about running." Leah added and I smiled holding my sister's hand."We better get to class, we're very late as it is." I was reminded wanting to stop them from nagging at me, especia

"There'd be a church service tomorrow, I want the two of you to be there." My dad said cleaning his hand with a napkin after dinner."I don't think I'd make it," Jude pronounced and Dad shot him a look."Why? What's more important than serving God?" Dad fired at him."Nothing is more important than serving God," Jude replied. "But Dad, you know I've got an interview with Bishop magazines," Jude spoke."You do wanna work there?" I asked surprised at his words and he rolled his eyes at me."Postpone it." Dad stood up."But that's not possible Dad," Jude argued."Then will you prefer going to the interview than performing your duty in the church as the first son of a Deacon?" My dad asked rhetorically and Jude couldn't say a word. "Take a look at Keith, he's more responsible and active both in church and the school. I suggest you start taking the footsteps of your brother." With that, he walked away."Bro," I called and Jude raised his eyes sharply at me as if I had always been the rival

My parents responded to the priest's prayer, and I shifted my gaze back at my two sisters, who were talking to some church members.I was standing alone on the terrace under the sun while my family was busy talking to some friends and a priest, and I? I don't have friends.I'm an introverted introvert who hates talking to people whether online or physically. I enjoy being on my own with my cat and laptop, watching movies, and playing games. You don't wanna know what movie I enjoy watching."Call your sisters, it's time to go home." My mother instructed me to walk with my dad to our car.I huffed, walking to my sisters, who were laughing and talking to their friends as if they couldn't live without them.As I got closer, I avoided eye contact with my elder sister's friend, who was crushing on me.
