The bells of the cathedral sounded so loud my heart nearly stopped.

I reached out for my phone, the screen blinding me as I checked the time.

02:32 A.M.

I didn’t know when I fell asleep. After Sven stormed out, I hugged my pillow tightly but still didn’t contact Ralph. I couldn’t bring myself to.

I've grown to love this pack and the people in it too.

Sven was not in bed. His side was cold and proved it was untouched for hours.

My stomach tightened instantly, and a soft panic curled up my spine.

I sat up, suddenly aware of every sound in the room. The wind rattled against the window, the faint hum of the heating filled the air, and even my own breathing felt too loud.

Where was he?

He never slept out of our room. Even if it was just for a couple of hours, he always stayed in bed.

Was he really that upset at the idea of me leaving?

He would have at least sent a text or called, but now, there was nothing.

The silence pressed down on me, heavy and suffocating.
