Chapter One-Hundred and Nineteen

I follow him to the end and watch from the darkness. With the key in hand, he approaches a parked police car, unlocks it, and hops inside. The car rattles and creaks from the curb. I sigh as I look at the receding taillights. Yes, he was there but I hoped he wasn't there with his people and whoever he was, I was so ready to find out already.

It was good, but not satisfactory. These side streets of the city are too narrow. My heart is pounding with tremendous excitement. My legs hurt from the accumulated energy.

The wind is blowing from the south and the pungent smell of cold blood is in the air. Someone had just been killed in the night for probably a wolf sacrifice. You think about going to the beach, imagining walking on the beach with freezing water beating your feet, but it's not safe. If you want to run, you have to go to the canyon.
