Chapter Three

As soon as I walked into the hall, some of the guards got a hold on my hand and tightened their grip on me. "What's happening?" I asked Jake who just joined the rest of the pack leaving me behind with the guards.

"Is she a human?" A man who seemed like the leader of the pack asked.

They nodded and he stared at me for a while. "Beautiful human, I'm surprised. Take her to the cell." He added and my eyes widened.

What were they trying to do? I asked myself as they dragged me into a dark cell.

I sat on the floor, scared because I couldn't see anything. I heard a sharp noise behind me and I shrieked with fear. "Who's there?" I asked, still scared.

A light chuckle was heard and the whole place became bright. "They're playing games with us." A girl said.

I was still scared, I didn't know what she was doing there. Who is she?

"Who are you?" I inquired, gently trying not to piss her off with my question. "What's happening? Why did they throw us here?"

"I'm Lillian and I'm a human." She answered.

"Tess should have told you and...."

I cut in quickly. "But she didn't."

"We're going to fight each other tomorrow morning." She murmured and I chuckled. It seemed like she was joking. How would they put two humans to fight with each other?

What did she mean by that? Was she already a psycho? What was wrong with her?

Many questions flooded my mind as I stared at her in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Alright, I'll explain better for you to understand. I've been here for more than a year and each time a female human is brought to the pack, they lock them in the cell for a night before organizing a competition the next morning for survival." She explained.

What type of survival?

Why do they have to lock them in a cell?

"But why? I mean, Tess didn't tell me all of these but she did say it was hard for them to accept a female human into their pack."

"Yes and that's the reason for a competition. They don't want more than one female human in their pack. This pack is one of the most deadliest and outrageous packs in probably the whole world." She revealed.

"What kind of competition? Are they fun and recreational competitions?"

She shook her head. "No, it's just a normal fight. Anyone who wins gets to live."

My heart slowly raced. "Anyone who wins gets to live?" I slowly repeated. "And you call this a normal fight? This is abnormal."

She looked at me, angry and pissed off by my remark. "Well, it's okay for you to be scared but this is not the first time I've done this. I've ripped open many girls and killed them."

No, I was talking with a cold-blooded murderer. "Are you sick? How can that be normal?"

Frowning, she stood up and walked to the small window which was locked already from outside. "I guess I'm used to it already. We have to fight each other tomorrow and I'm sure you know you're going to die."

I snapped. "I'm definitely not going to play this silly game with you guys."

"If you're lucky, you can get into the Werewolf Academy and you wouldn't have to do all these. You'll just find a mate and become happy." She replied.

"I guess that's what I'll do."

"Not easy sweetheart, I've never been given an opportunity to be in the Werewolf Academy since I came here. What makes you think you'll be chosen?" She mocked and sat down.

Why wasn't she seeing things with me? The werewolves in this pack were certainly deadly. How would they encourage that kind of game? And why didn't Tess tell me all these? I just hoped Kayden was still alive.

Tears filled my eyes. No, this was not happening. "Look, I'm just an orphan. I lost my parents recently and I also have a younger brother."

She let out a low chuckle, her heart full of bitterness. I don't know but her behavior showed me that she was a sadist. "I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do."

That got me angered the most. Couldn't she see that she was a tool for them? "The wolves are using us, we need to escape. I'm sure there's a way out of this cell." I said as I stood up.

"Sorry sweetheart but have you watched Harry Potter, this is another world entirely different from your human world. You'll certainly be caught if you try to escape." She warned.

I was becoming more impatient about everything. "You have a phone or something? I could use some help in calling the cops."

"Gosh, are you so dumb?"

I didn't even know what I was thinking at that particular moment but I just wanted to escape this pack.

"Lilian, I just want to leave this Werewolf facility."

"Pack," she corrected with a frown.

"It's useless talking to you." I replied and laid down on the floor. My mind drifted back to my old life, it was better staying there than here. No one wanted to talk with me except Jake who even managed to engage me in a conversation.

Even my best friend wasn't ready to talk with me. Why didn't she tell me all these before bringing me into this stupid pack? I never expected this from someone I called my best friend, I felt really betrayed.

I didn't even know why Lilian wasn't doing anything to get out of the cell. If she wanted to help me, she could bring up a suggestion and we could try it together. We should both understand each other since we were humans but she was different.

"You have a brother?" She asked and I sat up and stared at her, hoping she was ready to help me. I was ready to answer her questions if she would bring up an idea.

I nodded. "Yes, a younger brother."

She smiled and leaned on the wall. "You know sometimes I think about my parents but I don't know how to feel about them. I hate them so much that I would literally do anything to kill them."

My eyes widened.

Here I was, thinking about the death of my parents and someone was thinking about killing her parents. Now, this was not something I'm supposed to hear. How could she be so....

"Why? I mean, what did they ever do to you?" I inquired.

"They're the motherfuckers that got me into this present situation. They sold me to the wolves so they could make money out of me."

I was confused. Why would they do that?

"For what? Why would they do a nasty thing like that?"

Tears filled her eyes as she tried to stop them from flowing down her cheeks. "Well, they've never liked me. They wanted a male child and I just wasn't what they expected. Especially my dad," she paused and looked at me. "He hates me."

I couldn't relate to her problems but I knew she wasn't lying. I read some cases similar to her story in newspapers..

"It would be okay... Everything would be okay." I assured her.

But that didn't seem to last for long.
