Chapter Four

Morning came already and the cell was bright with light. It was time for the competition and we both pretended not to know each other. I was in for the competition and she was also in for the competition...

I erased yesterday's emotional moment from my head because I knew that one of us must survive. I had to prove a point to these monsters that I was no weak female competitor.

Walking outside, I found the pack chanting Lillian's name. She had been the reigning human champion so it wasn't surprising that they wanted her to win.

On a normal day, I would feel discouraged by their chants for the other opponent but I wasn't feeling that way.

"Are you up for this?" The man, who seemed like the instigator of the competition, slowly asked and I ignored him.

"Mr Jason, that's what they call him." Jake whispered to me before he quickly walked away.

Jason walked to the middle and showed everyone a knife on the ground. "This is how the game is played." He began with a broad smile on his face.

"This is not a game but a deathmatch." I reminded him, angrily. I didn't know where that boldness came from but I was just too upset to think.

He narrowed his eyes at me and frowned. "You won't be alive to repeat another word," he threatened and looked at Lilian. I knew he didn't like me instantly because of his words but I didn't know why. They all wanted me to lose except Jake.

"One of you has to pick this knife first before the match will fully start. After picking the knife, aim for your opponent and attack. Bring out any body parts from your dead opponent." He explained and my heart raced.

He didn't expect me to rip the body open, did he? "That's gross." I remarked.

He frowned at my last remark and laughed. "You're in no condition for negotiation or description."

I looked at Lillian who grinned at me, I couldn't believe she agreed to this. How can she agree to something like this? "I love this Jason." She said with a bright smile on her face that showed her excitement.

Running towards her, I grabbed her by the leg and she fell down, her pupils gleamed with a brutal light, and the savagery contained within us was more than enough to silence any man. She pushed me off her body and went for the knife, I kicked her making her fall with a loud thud.

We both stood up and she punched me in the throat making me choke, she gave me a punch in my jaw and kicked my stomach, I groaned in pain and flipped her over. She flew for a second and landed on the ground, wincing in pain.

I kicked her in the knees and grabbed her head snapping it to the ground, she winced in pain and she got hold of the knife.

Jake blew a whistle which symbolized the starting of the match. As I punched her, she left a slash on my collarbone. "We shouldn't do this." I told her as I winced in pain.

"I love it," She whispered and chuckled. "You think I would be building up myself and skills for more than a year to lose?"  She asked and flung me and I landed on the ground face-fit, and my mouth flooded with sand.

Bruised, I spat out the sand from my mouth. My stomach churned as I struggled to my feet, wiping my chin with the back of one arm.

By now, the cheers from the crowd grew louder and I wondered why they were satisfied seeing two humans fighting for survival.

She charged for me faster than I would've thought was possible and carried me with her two legs, flinging me to the other side.

I landed with a falling splash and a round of cheers erupted from the crowd.

Groaning, I managed to stand up. I found the sharp big knife on the floor and moved forward. Dropping to a knee, I held her by the hair and smashed her face into the knife with a warning noise.

Everyone gasped. With thick blood running down her face, she tried to get out of my grasp but I wailed punches on her face, blood caking her knuckles.

Picking the knife up, I slashed it across her throat. A trickle of red liquid squirted out of the wound in a quick blink, drenching me.

I stared at her dead body and attacked her body looking for the body parts that are easier to take. My fingers yanked the body parts and blood slashed across my face.

Blinking, I looked up for the first time and saw all eyes on me with mixed emotions on their faces.

Slicing into her stomach, a ripple of liquid squirted out, splashing on my upper body.

Cutting through the tissues and fibers, I found the pancreas and dropped it on the floor. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I dropped the knife on the ground too, I had killed Lilian.

What did I just do for survival? Why did I come to the werewolf pack?

They began chanting my name and I looked at Jason, he was shocked. His expression said it all, he already hated me.

He walked towards me and put on a light expression with a smile which I knew was fake. "You did well." He commended.

"Jason, I'll never forgive you even in death." I told him.

He chuckled. "I didn't kill her, you killed her with your hands." He told me and I ignored him and joined the rest of the pack.

He turned and faced the whole pack. "I'm sure we all know the reason why we are gathered here today," he spoke into the microphone as he cleared his throat and fixed up his tie.

Tess walked towards me with a smile on her face and she whispered. "You did a great job."

"Shut your mouth, you never told me that this was required." I snapped, angrily.

"Quiet ladies!" Jason ordered in a more stern and authoritative voice. "We have chosen two students to leave this pack and go to the Werewolf Academy so that they can prepare for the blood moon."

"What's a blood moon?" I asked Tess in a low tone.

"Be quiet, you won't understand" She answered and grinned at me. "But wait, who do you think he's going to choose?"

I raised an eyebrow in surprise. "C'mon, I just got here yesterday. How am I supposed to know who he is going to choose when I'm not even a werewolf?"

She sighed, frustratedly. "Yeah, you're right."

"You guys would be going to the Werewolf Academy where the rich and strongest Werewolf attend. Even the cursed Alpha is a student of the Werewolf Academy."

I grinned at her. "The cursed Alpha!"

She nudged me with an elbow. "Pay attention to the details."

"And the two people who would be leaving the pack tonight are," he paused and looked around the crowd. I knew he wouldn't choose me because I was not a Werewolf and I wasn't even ready to go anywhere.

His eyes suddenly found mine and he made eye contact.

"Hailey and Tricia." He announced and my heart shrieked with fear.
