Chapter 2

Author: Perfect Timing
After leaving the hospital, Solana went straight back to the Jeffries Manor. She had already submitted her application to further her studies abroad. In ten days, she would be flying to Fruances.

As soon as Solana stepped through the front door, Cedric called her over. She discovered that several Jeffries family elders were also present. She looked around, but she wasn't surprised that Isaiah was not there.

Ever since their accidental night together, he had been avoiding her. Even though he eventually agreed to marry her under family pressure, he was no longer the same toward her as before.

When Solana walked in, all the elders turned to her with kind smiles. Their eyes naturally drifted down to her belly.

Cedric called out warmly, "Sol, come and sit beside me. Tell me, what kind of wedding do you want? I'll have Reuben and Jocelyn make the arrangements."

Reuben Jeffries was Isaiah's eldest brother, and Jocelyn Wright was his wife. Then, Cedric brought out an old wooden box that looked aged and worn.

"This bracelet once belonged to my wife. She told me to pass it down to Isaiah's wife one day. Try it on quickly!"

Solana was about to decline since she would be leaving soon. Besides, this bracelet was meant for Isaiah's wife, not her.

Just then, the door was pushed open, and Isaiah walked in. Their eyes met, and Solana noticed a fair-skinned, beautiful woman standing behind him. It was his first love, Alyssa.

Cedric's face darkened the moment he saw Isaiah's cold expression. Then, when he spotted Alyssa trailing in behind him, his gaze turned even more frigid.

Cedric snapped, "I called you to discuss your marriage to Solana. Why on earth would you bring an outsider into this?"

Alyssa's pale face flushed instantly, and she timidly tugged at Isaiah's sleeve. The latter gave her a reassuring look, and she followed him inside.

Seeing the unfriendly looks from the elders, he offered a weak explanation, "You can decide the wedding details yourselves. Why did you have to call me?

"I was discussing business with Alyssa, but your urgent phone calls forced me to bring her along. Alyssa and I are just friends."

Cedric snorted and began discussing Isaiah and Solana's wedding plans right before Alyssa.

Isaiah appeared to listen absentmindedly, but Solana noticed the intimate gestures he and Alyssa were making under the table. She hooked her foot around his calf and rubbed against it repeatedly.

Solana suddenly remembered bits from her past life. Isaiah would occasionally bring Alyssa in front of her after their marriage, showing off their affection as if to flaunt it.

Just like now, they made disgusting little gestures in front of her as if no one else existed. Not only that, but Alyssa would also deliberately show off intimate marks for her to see.

If this had been the Solana from her previous life, she would have felt sick. However, she felt nothing at all now.

Cedric had to call her name multiple times before she snapped out of her thoughts. He said. "Sol, don't worry.

"Sure, it's all a little rushed, but Reuben, Jocelyn, and I already went over everything. You're not missing out on anything!"

Reuben asked which guests from the Summers family's side should be invited, saying he'd send out the wedding invites first thing tomorrow. Meanwhile, Jocelyn smiled and took her hand, carefully advising her about early pregnancy precautions.

Cedric deliberately coughed, and it was only then that Isaiah looked their way. "Isaiah, your wedding with Sol is set on the tenth! Stay home these next few days and work with Reuben and Jocelyn on wedding preparations. Understood?"

Cedric struck his cane hard on the floor, his expression serious. It was only then that Isaiah reluctantly pulled his leg back and grunted his agreement.

The moment she heard the wedding date, Solana's face froze. That was the exact day she would be flying to Fruances. She thought, "This time, no one will know I'm not marrying Isaiah."

As he left the doctor's office, Isaiah's face was full of despair. It turned out he had already been given a death sentence back home, and coming here for treatment was his last hope. Yet, even this last hope had been shattered. He stumbled back to his hospital room and ran into Reuben, who had just returned. Reuben could tell from his expression that he knew everything. "Isaiah, the doctor said there's still hope, as long as you stay committed to treatment."However, these words seemed so pale and powerless at this moment. When Isaiah looked up again, his face was covered in tears. "Reuben, I don't want to die yet. I haven't won Sol back... I'm not ready to go!"He broke down in Reuben's arms, sobbing until exhaustion forced him back into bed. After that, Isaiah took treatment even more seriously. Although this hospital was already among the best in the world, he was still not satisfied, so he spent money on flying in top international specialists for consultations. He also s

Isaiah stared straight at Solana. She seemed taller than before, and her cheeks had filled out a little. It seemed like she had been doing just fine without him. That thought brought a pang of bitterness to Isaiah's heart. She was no longer the clingy little girl who used to follow him everywhere. He lifted his hand, wanting to pat her head like he used to, but in the end, he pulled it back. "Sol, I—""Uncle Isaiah, long time no see." Solana stepped forward and greeted him casually, then called out to the man behind him, "Uncle Reuben."Both greetings sounded equally natural, with no distinction between them.Isaiah's excitement instantly died down, but he couldn't give up. Using his illness as an excuse to come here for treatment was his only chance to win her back. He asked, "Sol, I want to talk to you alone. Is that okay?" Solana didn't answer directly but glanced at Reuben behind him. Reuben nodded and took his people to arrange the hospital admission. For a moment, onl

Isaiah, who had been drained and lifeless for months, suddenly came back to life. He urged Reuben to arrange the trip overseas as quickly as possible.Seeing him so energetic should have made Reuben happy, but his smile was tighter than ever. If Isaiah ever found out the truth about his condition...He didn't dare think that far ahead.Isaiah lay in bed, repeatedly turning a hair clip in his fingers, murmuring Solana's name under his breath. Watching him like that, Reuben's heart was full of worry. After making up his mind, Reuben called Solana abroad. "Hello, Sol. This is Reuben. I have something important to tell you." Solana had just finished a set of experiments and was surprised to receive this call. Before Cedric died, he had instructed the Jeffries family not to tell Solana about his death. Cedric knew they were doomed as a couple and didn't want them to rekindle their old feelings.Solana thought something had happened to Cedric and anxiously pressed for details. When s

Ever since Cedric passed away, Isaiah had practically moved into the company. He rarely returned to Jeffries Manor because every corner of it reminded him of pain and loss. He also didn't dare let himself relax for even a second. The moment he stopped working, the longing would consume him.In just a few short months, Isaiah pushed Jeffries Corporation to new heights. However, it came at the cost of his health.Six months later, he was so haggard that he was unrecognizable. One morning, right after wrapping up an early meeting with the executive team, he collapsed in the conference room. When he woke up again, it was two days later. Isaiah had a very long dream while lying in the hospital bed. In the dream, he saw 18-year-old Solana confessing to him on her graduation day, and he agreed without hesitation. She jumped up happily and spun in circles before falling into his arms. He held her tightly and kissed her passionately. But suddenly, someone appeared before him, forcibly

Solana said, "Go home? Uncle Isaiah, I'll never return to the Jeffries again, but I won't forget the kindness they showed in raising me. When I'm capable someday, I'll definitely repay them." Her words were steady and resolute, and the fire that had just been ignited in Isaiah's heart instantly went cold. She continued, "Uncle Isaiah, if there's nothing serious, I hope you won't bother me anymore. My studies are keeping me busy enough!" After hanging up, she let out a long sigh of relief. She used to think Isaiah was different from other men—calm, decisive, and thoughtful, but now she realized all men were the same. He had once been infatuated with Alyssa. And in the future, he would likely become infatuated with other women as well. She was still so young with unlimited possibilities ahead of her, and she didn't want to be held back by romance. She couldn't understand why her past self had been so foolish, placing all her hopes on one man. She could live an extraordinary life

Isaiah pursued Solana relentlessly, which annoyed her to no end. She thought she had made herself clear and that Isaiah would finally understand. However, he kept saying he wanted to pursue her and would propose to her.The very thing she had once dreamed of countless times had come true when she no longer wanted it. She finally understood that her past love had indeed been a burden for Isaiah, as she was now experiencing that burden herself. She tried to firmly reject him, but he was like a man possessed and wouldn't listen at all.Isaiah worried that he would affect Solana's studies, so he only called her during breakfast, lunch, and dinner times. Every phone call was a sincere plea for forgiveness. "Sol, I know you're still mad at me! You have every right to be angry with me. I did mess up, and now I regret it. "I'm begging for your forgiveness with all my heart. I'll keep asking, every day, until the day you forgive me!" Afraid she wouldn't believe him, he even swore on
