"You were warned when you took the loan. All this time, we've been letting it slide, giving you time to pay up. But still, you had the guts to try and run away," One of the men thundered.
His voice sent chills down Sophia's spine. She did not know what to expect when she heard the loud bang earlier, but she certainly did not expect to see two armed, dangerous looking men beating her stepfather to a pulp.
"Stop!!" Her mother screamed, rushing forward. She quickly got on her knees and placed both palms together. "P–Please stop hitting him," she begged. "He's all I have."
The men, who Sophia now realized were also werewolves, frowned. "Well your husband should have thought about that before taking such ridiculous loans!"
The men did not look like people who would take no for an answer, and Sophia was beginning to fear for her mother. She did not give a fuck what happened to her stepfather. Maybe this was his punishment for all the evil things he had done.
"Please…just give me a few weeks," her stepfather continued to beg. "I-I promise to pay up I swear…"
A loud scream escaped him as one of the men sliced through his arm with sharp claws.
The man continued, grabbing her stepfather by the collar. "You have crossed your limit. It's time for you to die." The man raised his arm high, aiming for the neck.
Sophia heard her mother scream, and she shut her eyes, unwilling to look.
"Take my daughter!!"
Immediately, Sophia's eyes flew open. She could not believe what she had just heard. But it was true. Everyone in the room had paused. Horrified, she turned to face her stepfather.
"P-Please…take my daughter," Her stepfather begged. "She…Sophia…she means a lot to her mother and I," He continued.
Sophia's eyes widened. She broke out in a cold sweat at her stepfather's words, and she knew exactly where he was going with this.
"NO!" She yelled, even though she knew that would not stop him.
One of the men hissed, impatient. "What does your daughter have to do with anything?"
Her stepfather cast a glance at her. "She's our little baby girl. And I assure you, we will not be able to live without her…" He paused to sniff a little.
Sophia felt her blood boil. Her stepfather did not give a shit about her, he never had. All he did was hit her whenever she did not steal enough to provide for the family. It was clear that he despised her, and he had shown it for years.
So why the hell was he pretending to care? "Stop! What are you doing? Mother, please stop him!" She pleaded. But her mother looked just as confused.
"I will let you have her to prove to you that I mean what I say. I will have the money ready in two weeks. When I do, I will come for my baby girl. I-I will bring her back home. Just please…please don't harm us."
"Stop lying!" Sophia screamed at the top of her lungs. She could not believe her eyes when she saw a fake tear slide down her stepfather's cheeks. She knew what he was doing. He was not going to come for her. He never would. He was only using her to escape death.
Fear gripping her, Sophia knew she had no other option.
She had to run.
She leaped back in fear and began to run in an attempt to reach the back door. But the men were faster than her. They caught up with her easily and tied her arms behind her back.
"No, let me go!" She continued to struggle. But they all ignored her cries.
"Agreed," She heard one of the men say. "Your daughter will be your motivation to pay up your debt," He sneered. "You have two weeks. If you don't get the money by then, forget about your little girl."
"MOM, PLEASE…HELP ME!!" Sophia screamed, tears streaming down her face as she fought back to no avail. Her mother had stood and was now watching everything unfold with tears in her eyes. But did not move an inch.
"MOM, PLEASE!!" Sophia felt helpless as she began to sob. But still, her mother made no move. And Sophia knew why.
She was afraid.
She was still too afraid of her husband. This hurt Sophia more than she could explain.
"Two weeks. I'll have the money ready, I promise," Her stepfather said.
Sophia glared at him, tears blurring her vision. Just before they put a black bag over her head, she saw her stepfather smirk at her.
"No!" Sophia continued to scream as they began to drag her away. The last thing she heard before they pulled her out of the door was the sound of her mother sobbing quietly in the living room.
The men gagged her and dragged her down the steps until they got to a black SUV parked on the street. They dumped her roughly in the backseat, making her wince from the pain.
The black bag over her head was yanked off. "You think this one will fetch a good price?" One man asked the other. They both turned to look at Sophia.
Suddenly, she felt self conscious and wary. She shrunk back into the seat and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Don't be stupid!" One of them slapped her across her face. He pushed her arms out of the way and tore her shirt in one pull.
Tears streamed down Sophia's face as these strange men observed her naked chest. She had never felt so violated in her life. "P-please…" she whimpered, scared they might try to harm her.
The men exchanged looks. "Fair enough. I'd say medium sized."
The fact that they were discussing her body made her face burn in humiliation and fear.
"We're good to go," she heard one of the men say. "We'll see what Alpha Jordan has to say about this one."
With a smirk, they shut the backdoor and got into the car. As they drove off, Sophia felt her stomach churn. What she feared was right.
She was going to be sold.
Sophia's POVThis place was bloody worse than hell. The stairway was dark, and even with my wolf vision, I could barely make out the outline of the man that pulled me harshly by the handcuffs bound on my wrists. They were tight, tighter than the last time. Alpha Jordan claimed it was for me to never make a run for it again. That, and a hard slap that nearly knocked out my teeth."Walk faster, you bag of bones!" The guard yelled at me, yanking the chains forward and causing me to miss a step. He hissed in annoyance as I straightened up, before pulling me one last time in the direction of the door I knew stood somewhere in front of us. Sharply he pulled the said door open to the familiar room that reeked of a disgusting mix of sweat, cigarettes and sex.I blinked rapidly, struggling to adapt to the sudden light intensity that travelled through the large room. Fluttering them open at the loud music that grew even louder, the room clearly came to view. It was what must have been a once ru
Sophia's POVThe man I assumed was a guard was very rough with his pushing. I'd been stuck in a dark room. Now he was pulling me like a ragged doll until he tossed me in front of a few people. The room was large with blue and red lights, a few disco lights and loud music that threatened to make my ears bleed."Stand upright." He ordered, forcing me to straighten my back. I pulled on the hem of my dress, feeling even more exposed than before. There was a man particularly in front of me, sitting with his back recoiling into the couch. He had both legs spread with an intimidating aura about him, I dared not look at him. He was certainly somehow of the same kind as Jordan, the sadistic alpha that had brought me here. He asked me to make him money. Was that what this was about?I couldn't bring myself to look at him, no matter how I wanted to, if that was the case. That was supposedly disrespectful to the rich stakes, I knew that from experience. The last time I tried to square my shoulde
Darien's POV To say I was pissed was an understatement. I was shocked and irritated by her guts. What did she take me for? A mere, useless omega like her was talking back at me? She was fucking talking back! She wasn't loud, but Xavier, my wolf, could hear her clearly. And if I was upset, he was furious. Nobody dared disrespect me or him.I thought she was as much a weakling as all of the girls that Jordan had brought to all his parties. They were irritating as hell, but this one? I couldn't even begin to describe my displeasure with her guts and unwavering empty stare. It wasn't enough that she didn't have a fucking leash on her tongue, she was conventionally ugly. She wasn't particularly beautiful, just long, curly hair covering her face. She really even looked like a few areas of skin covering brittle bones, yet she talked back at me?Not in this lifetime, I smirked to myself and relaxed into the backrest of the couch. Not to Darien Grey. The hell I'd be insulted by this weak foo
Sophia's POVFrozen with fear, I slowly turned my head to face the figure behind me. This was very bad. Although it was clearly too late for regrets, I could not help but berate myself silently. What on earth made me think I could escape right now? This place was crawling with brutal, intimidating Alphas and their bodyguards. Surely, I should have known they would catch me. "Trying to escape already?" The same deep voice washed over me. By this time I was face to face with him. The asshole who had bought me. My blood boiled at his presence. Adamant, I refused to acknowledge his words. The metal pressed against my neck turned out to be a bracelet which he continued to press hard to make a point. I could tell he was trying to hurt me, probably as a warning or something like that. If I were in a different situation, I might have found that funny. With the amount of pain I had received from my stepfather, he would have to do a lot better than a bracelet."I wasn't." I finally spoke up.
Darien's POVAll the anger I had been feeling earlier resurfaced as I made my way through the large hall and through the entrance that would lead me to my father's office. The rage in my chest threatened to burst out, but I was saving it till I was face-to-face with the main cause of my problem; none other than Mr Benedict fucking Gray. Contrary to public belief, my father and I were neither inseparable nor best buddies. That was only what he wanted them to believe because he wanted the family name to be untainted. The image of the perfect family was a priority he loved to uphold. As a matter of fact, my father was more invested in his image within the human world than in our own werewolf community. Sometimes it pissed me off when he acted like those entitled, puny humans. This was not to say he was not a good Alpha. He was, but it just seemed like he preferred to be here. He fed on the power, like a drug. That explained why he loved to throw unnecessary lavish parties every once in
Darien's POVThe girl was still knocked out cold when I returned to the car. I hissed at the sight. I had completely forgotten about her. I stopped to take a good look at her to make sure she was truly unconscious.Right now, all thoughts of torturing and breaking were not as appealing as they'd seemed earlier. It just felt like a waste of time and energy. She was a nobody, and I had been reeled in by the heat of the moment. Now I didn't even want to see her. It was too much of a burden. I had half a mind to dump her out of the car in the middle of the road, but it was right in front of the company building and would raise a lot of questions. I could not afford that sort of scandal, especially not right now. I rolled my car keys between my fingers as I thought of what to do with her. I absolutely regretted buying her. Why did I ever let Jordan talk me into this? It was a total shit value for my money as she was not even worth my time. She wasn't my type either. What was I even suppo
Sophia's POV"Who's there?!" I continued to yell, banging even harder on the door. I had jolted awake with an overwhelming headache and a temporary loss of vision. It took me a few minutes to recover enough to realise that I had no idea where I was. The events of the last few hours were all jumbled up in a large mess that I could not even decipher it. I didn't even know if it was still the same day. When my vision finally returned, I cast a glance around the room I was in. I had not realized till now that I was laying in a large, soft bed. I took in the rest of the room, and my jaw dropped slowly as I progressed. I was laying in the most exquisite room I had ever seen in my life. I had only ever seen rooms like this on television. It was a large bedroom painted and decorated with a light mauve shade. Aside from the curtains, bedcovers and bedside lamp–which were in the same mauve shade–everything else in the room was pure white. The tiles on the floor, the furniture, and the closet
Darien's POVI stared hard at the infuriating girl in front of me, the irritation making my jaw clench. I had finally dozed off only to be rudely awakened by the loud banging. I growled in annoyance, springing from the bed with the full intention to strangle her. I hardly got any sleep on a normal day, and when I did, I did not like to be disturbed. As I got to the guest room, still seething, I heard her trying the doorknob in a feeble attempt to open it. Was she daft? It was obviously locked. My irritation threatened to turn to anger. I wondered where Jordan picked this one from. She was acting like this was her first time being sold? What did she think it involved? Rainbows and roses? I slammed the key in the lock and pulled the door open before she could bang on it again. The action must have surprised her, because she nearly fell over. She recovered herself quickly, lifting her head to fix me with angry eyes. Before she could speak, I pulled her forward by the neck and pressed
