Ava's Game

~ Emilia ~

“Come sit, Emilia.” She pointed to an old dusty seat in the room.

“What exactly are you doing here, Ava, and how did you find me here?” I queried.

“Just sit, Emilia.” She snapped, visibly impatient.

I stared at her for a while before going to take the seat. I knew Ava so well, and she was obviously not into games right now.

“What do you want, Ava?”

She looked at me for a few minutes before turning to the guy who had brought me in, and he left at once.

“You are drunk, Emy," she voiced and walked carefully to where I sat.

"Tell me what you are, Emilia." Ava's voice wavered in ruin.

"Wife of Adrian?" She breathed, a bitter smile playing on her lips. "His concubine?" She paused and bent her face to meet mine.

“Or his childhood sweetheart?"

I stared at her without uttering a word. I don't even get how Ava made her way into the party and then found out I was there.

The party was basically for werewolfs. Alphas and Lunas of various packs with a few more pack members from what I saw.

"I found out you are Adrain's new plaything." She smirked.

"But unfortunately I’m going to use you, Emilia. I will use you to get whatever it is I want.”

I moped at her, confused at what exactly she was saying.

Though my head was spinning, I needed to get a hold of myself as much as I could.

“Get straight to the point, Ava; Adrain must be looking for me now."

"Here," she said and pulled out a piece of white paper from her breast pocket.

“You’ve to sign this, Emilia," she explained patiently.

I collected the paper and stared at it, then returned my gaze back to her. "What is this?"

“Go on and open it, Emilia; I’ve little or no time left." She sighed and lifted her face from mine.

I looked at the paper for a few more seconds, then folded it into a thin strand before throwing it into the far end of the room.

I jerked up from the seat and took two steps forward, then slumped to the floor.

I raised my head to look at Ava, and she was walking towards me.

She came to where I lay and crouched till she was my level.

“You are really drunk, Emilia, and obviously can’t walk well." She laughed and pulled my hair. She pulled it towards my right ear, making me wince in deep pain.

“Stop that, Ava," I whimpered.

"You must be very dumb, Emilia.” She gritted her teeth and pulled my hair harder until my eyes glistened in hot tears.

I bit down on my lips, my head throbbing in immense pain.

“Let me go." I cried and forcefully pulled my hair away.

I rose from the floor and staggered towards the door. I turned to look at her, and her arms were crossed on her chest while she watched me.

“Go on, Emilia." She grinned wickedly.

I tried reaching for the door handle, but it burst open from the outside, and the last thing I could remember was falling into someone's arms.

I slowly parted my eyelids to find Adrain pacing back and forth in my room.

I was greeted with a sharp pain on my head and tried sitting up when Adrain turned to face me.

“Emilia." He called and rushed to where I lay.

"Are you okay?” He asked, his expression filled with pain.

"I'm fine," I murmured.

"Why did you get into a fight with Charlotte at the party?”

"Charlotte?" I gasped, blinking rapidly, unsure of what I just heard.

"Yes, Charlotte. The girl you fought with after you got drunk," he explained.

I furrowed my brows in confusion, still uncertain about who he was talking about.

Was he referring to Ava as some Charlotte girl, or was it a mistaken identity?

“You mean A…"

"The girl you fought with, Emilia. Her name is Charlotte." He said and sat down on my bed, next to me.

Goodness! What was going on here? How come Ava suddenly became Charlotte? And aside from that, I didn’t fight with her.

“I promise you, Adrain, I didn’t fight. " I managed to utter it.

"You clearly did, Emilia, but you were too drunk to find out you did.” He adjusted on the bed, sitting closer to me.

“You don’t have to remember her, Emy, but don’t get drunk that way ever again." He held my hands.

I nodded in affirmation, trying to make meaning from what he was saying.

“I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything had happened to Charlotte." He stated, his eyes filled with pain and emotions.

From what I could tell, Ava and Adrain are trying to mess with my brain.

And for every reason, they are both linked with each other. And the only way to find out about this was to play along.

“Who exactly is this Charlotte girl? "I queried, confused.

“It isn’t your business, Emilia; just don’t get into a fight next time.” He warned and left my hand.

“The pack nurse is going to come take care of you.” He said and slowly climbed off the bed.

He turned to leave, then halted in his steps and turned to me.

“Emilia." He called and I raised my head to meet his gaze.

“Get as much rest as you can.” He said and winked at me before leaving.

I watched him as a soft smile played on my lips. I watched him close the door, and then my mind raced back to what just occurred.

What exact paper was Ava requesting I sign, and was it in any way related to Adrain?

Who exactly is Charlotte, and how is Ava involved?
