FAZER LOGIN~ Emilia ~
“Al..pha.." I stammered and raised my head. Adrain stepped into the room fully and walked to where the journal lay on the floor. He picked it up and flipped to the first page. "Charlotte.” He muttered, and raised his head to face me. "Where did you get this?” He barked, shoving the journal to my face. I pointed at the dresser, unsure of what to do next. “I’ve warned you, Emilia, to stay clear off what is not yours. You don’t touch people's things without asking first." He shouted, flipping through the pages of the book. "Don’t do that Adrian." I retorted. " This very book we are talking about is in my room, I found it here not elsewhere. So why would I not touch it.” I folded my arms on my chest. He looked at me in surprise, shocked at my sudden outburst. "Don’t you dare raise your voice at me. Unless you want to sleep in the prison this minute.” I exhaled slowly before speaking. “Who exactly is Charlotte?" At this point, my face was extremely glum. Cause I really needed to know who the hell she is. Adrain paused and looked at me, then took his face back to the book. He got to the page where the moonlight drawing was and stopped to look at it. He stared at it for minutes before finally turning to me. “For the last time Emilia, don’t you ever ask me about Charlotte.” He leaned in close, his eyes locking with mine, “Whoever or whatever she is doesn't have anything to do with you." His voice held no gentleness and somehow, I felt like my heart was crushed. What was marriage all about? Keeping secrets and telling lies? I was pretty aware that this marriage is a fake, but this very Charlotte that was talked about isn’t just any ordinary girl. I saw the way Adrains expression twists into something different whenever he mentions her name. He backed off. “I came to let you know that you can stay back in your room." “What do you mean?" “I’ve thought about it, and decided to respect your opinion, you can stay back in your room.” I nodded and heaved in relief. "Okay.” I noted and dragged my half packed bag to the dresser. Adrain took the journal, the drawing frame and everything I think belonged to Charlotte and left the room. This very house was filled with secrets I’m yet to uncover. ****** About an hour ago, Ivy had informed me that Adrain wanted me in his study. But the thought of limping to his study made me stay back. And now, I had a rethink. I decided to go and find out why he wanted me. As I limped forward to his study, I stopped right in his door to hear what he was saying. “Which of you dropped this in Emilia's room?” His voice echoed out of the room. I limped forward, and the door was slightly open so I could look in through the gap. Ivy and six other servant girls stood in rows, facing Adrain who was standing before them. “For the last time, which of you kept these damn things in Emilia's room." He growled and slammed his fist on the table. And by now, the girls were all trembling. Some were already crying, others knelt, weeping. "Stand.” He ordered the girls kneeling and they stood up immediately, their feet wobbling beneath and they shivered in fear. Adrain shot them a cold stare. “If you refuse to speak, I will make sure I have you all flogged." His fingers pointed to their faces. His eyes burned his rage but his expression calmed when a blonde haired girl raised her hand. “Speak." “The journal and frame has been there since her last memorial.” she said and broke down. They were all acting like they had seen a god. Adrain was indeed feared by all. It was said he killed without mercy, but it didn’t seem so to me. Adrain has never for one day made me fear him that way. He titled his head like he was trying to remember something then grinned mischievously. And it never occurred to you to take them all out after the memorial?" His voice shook the entire building. "Memorial?" I whispered. What has a memorial gotten to do with a book and frame? "And who amongst you left them there?” He said, and clasped his hands behind his back. He walked in their midst, and looked deep into their eyes. “I did." The blonde haired girl choked, burying her face on the floor and weeping uncontrollably. “I plead for your forgiveness Alpha." She cried. Adrain stopped right in her front, then dragged her hair and pulled her up. She shut her eyes when their eyes locked, and tears fell freely from her eyes. “I’m sorry Alpha." She pleaded. Adrain let out a devilish laugh and stretched out his hands. A guard appeared, and handed him a sword. He collected the sword and raised it up, leaving the girl's hair. “You know what it means not to follow the orders of your Alpha." He said. “You dared disobey me, you reckless omega." He barked, his voice laced with hatred. “I’m going to slit your throat. And when I do that, you will go and meet your fucking dead omegas and tell them what it feels like to disobey an Alpha." He let out a loud chuckle. My blood froze and I could feel my body shaking at the very sight of the sword that was about to be plunged to her chest. Was Adrain truly a beast like they said? My whole body was gripped with fear. “I apologise dearest Alpha.” She fell back on her knees weeping. Adrain signaled the servant and he dragged the girl up and pushed her forward to where Adrain was standing by now. Adrain plunged the sword forward to strike her chest when I pushed the door open. “No Adrain, don’t kill her!” I said. They all turned, shocked to see me standing. Adrains face became pale as the sword on his hand fell, hitting the floor with a sharp clink.~ Emilia ~“Tell me more about it, Ivy. How long do the guards stay up at night or even in the morning? Tell me everything you know about it." I smiled and pointed to the couch for her to sit on while I moved to my bed.Ivy hesitated for a while before sitting. “The pack is heavily guarded every single hour of the day, both day and night. The general commander is in charge of assigning each guard to their duty post. And no one leaves the main pack gate without the order of the Alpha.” I nodded, all she was saying sinking in. “And about night, Luna, they guard also at night; the pack never goes an hour without the guards in their usual position, unless the Alpha says otherwise.”I wanted to press further, to ask even deeper questions, but I wasn’t sure it would go down well. It might stir up suspicion from her or even Adrain when he might have inquired about my whereabouts tomorrow. “I will need your help tomorrow, Ivy, but I will get you at that time. You can leave now." Ivy stoo
~Adrain~I ignored Charlotte and unlocked the drawer of the desk and began sorting the files.I searched all through but couldn’t find it. Losing this file would cost me a lot. I stopped the search and stood still.I was certain I left the file here at my penthouse. And no one has access to this place but just I and Charlotte.I turned to her; she was still pacing in the room. Her arms folded on her chest. She stopped, seeing my lingering gaze, and walked to where I was. She zipped down the jacket, pulling a file from its side.“Looking for this?" She waved the file in the air.I rushed over to her and managed to snatch it when she shifted backwards."The Southside armies are launching an attack soon.” She said, "You ought to be more careful, Adrain; things might get tougher than you think." She handed the file over to me.I pulled the signed documents and glanced through them, then placed them back on the file after confirming it was still intact. “Tell me more about the Southside
~Adrain~I glanced through the documents Austin dropped on my desk and shook my head in disagreement. How would the South Side armies want an agreement? The matter has already been resolved in a peace talk, so who would have brought it up again?I walked to the shelf next to my dresser and heaved. The piles of books there were discouraging for someone who wanted to search for something he didn’t know exactly where it was placed. I moved to the first row, carefully raising the books one at a time to ensure they didn’t stick to each other. The document wasn’t in the first row or the second or even the third row either.Could it be that I had misplaced it? My hands rested on my waist as I walked back to my desk, pulling the dresser open and beginning to rummage its contents.Still the same news. It wasn’t there.I closed my eyes, searching my head to remember if I had kept it somewhere else. But the memory wasn’t coming in. It's been three years, three whole years since it was signed an
~ Emilia ~“You can come in, Ivy." I responded, and Adrain moved to the door.He opened the door, and Ivy bowed, making way for him to leave before she came in.‘Shit, I was still tying a towel.’"Just hold on, Ivy; I will invite you in when I’m done.” Ivy turned back and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.I hurriedly put on my clothes and then called her back.“Ma’m, someone brought you this." She said and stretched out a white envelope to my face.I looked at it and then back at her face.I crossed my arms. "Someone dropped it for me?” I queried, confused.“Yes, ma'am. The letter was directed to you.” She explained. What she said wasn’t just adding up.Who would possibly drop off a letter for me?“Drop it here, Ivy." I pointed at the couch. Ivy gently placed the envelope there and bowed before leaving. After I had packed my hair, I went to where the envelope was kept and picked it up.I went to my bed and sat down, assessing the letter. ‘Emilia Grayson’ was boldl
~ Emilia ~The bang I felt on my head when I woke up was massive.I smiled, remembering how Adrain carried me in his arms to my room and then tucked me into bed after I told him I felt sleepy. He really cared, though. He ensured the vase didn’t hit my head, not just once but thrice. How do you feel when someone you think doesn't love you suddenly starts to care? The feeling is reassuring, so reassuring that you would fall for him again.I rolled myself out of the bed and headed to the bathroom. When I came back to my room, my mind raced back to the event that played earlier. How could a vase drop from the servants' quarters not even once but three whole times?Something is off. I sat down on my bed and crossed my leg, looking up to the sky as the thoughts flew in.I saw the figure, at least from his neck down to his head. But they were all covered in a black mask; I couldn’t see his face. Why would someone throw off a vase without even checking if someone was there? Let's say the v
~ Adrain ~I paced in my room, patiently waiting for Austin to arrive.“You called me." Austin bowed as soon as he stepped in."Earlier at the courtyard, did you make sure all the guards were present?" I stopped to face him.He tilted his head, then nodded."Yes, Alpha, I made sure they all left their quarters."“No," I shook my head. “They didn’t all leave their quarters.” I leaned closer.“Who then threw the glass?"“The glass?" Austin echoed, confused.“Yes, the vase. Not just once or even twice, but thrice. Three fucking times." I made the sign with my hands for clearer understanding.Austin still looked confused, and then I knew I needed to explain.“After addressing the guards, I was leaving and then bumped into Emilia, and next thing, a vase fell from the servant quarters almost hitting her.” I paused.Austin's expression was unreadable, but a mix of shock and confusion was written all over him.“I pulled her out the first time, the second, and the third time." I clenched my fi
