Chapter 2

After finishing all the dishes that had been served by the servants at the Alpha's residence, Irene promptly left the place and went away. Two servants who were also werewolves immediately cleaned up Irene's leftover food and the utensils she had used earlier.

One of the female servants, who had been staring at Irene since she started eating her meal, hissed while cleaning up Irene's messy leftovers.

"Why do humans never finish their food until it's clean? Are they used to leaving food like this?" Maya complained as she piled up all the empty plates and glasses.

The female werewolf who led the servants, and always reminded Irene to eat, could only remain silent and not comment. She continued to listen to Maya's noisy complaints.

Suddenly, Maya growled and placed the glass on top of the neatly arranged bowls with enough force. Her fangs suddenly appeared, and her eyes shone sharply towards the second floor, where Irene's room was located.

"She should know her place since she is only Mr. Adam's human mistress!" she hissed loudly, hoping her words could be heard by Irene.

"Maya! Watch your words! Do you want Mr. Adam to know all your complaints and end your life here?" Vera, the head servant who had been patient enough to deal with Maya's increasingly irrational behavior, asked.

"But she should know her place! Since ancient times, humans have been beneath us. Even if she is by Mr. Adam's side, she is still lower than us!" replied Maya.

"Maya!" Vera shouted, finally raising her voice as if she was fed up with Maya's constant complaints that her job was too dirty to serve such a lowly human race.

In fact, Maya had said it often enough, and Vera just stayed silent, listening to all her complaints. Maya was now quiet and immediately left to clean up the dirty tableware with a sullen expression.

Vera just shook her head and cleaned the dining table until there was no stain left. Unbeknownst to Vera and Maya, all their words had been heard by Irene, who had stopped on the stairs leading to the second floor.

"Damn my life! Sold and humiliated even in this place." Irene murmured with teary eyes and continued to climb the stairs to the second floor.

Upon arriving on the second floor, Irene, who was about to enter her room, suddenly stopped when the door opened and she saw another servant who was also cleaning Adam's house.

The woman looked at Irene coldly, just like the other werewolves who always looked at her with cold eyes, as if she was just a tool used by Adam to produce the son he wanted.

"Thank you." Irene said, knowing that Melanie had just cleaned her room, as seen from the plastic bag and gloves she was wearing.

Without responding, Melanie simply walked past Irene, ignoring anything Irene said.

All the attitudes and talks about her were already very common to Irene. It would even feel strange to her if she did not hear various bad things about herself.

There was only one person who never said anything bad about her, whether in front of Irene or behind her. That person was Adam, the Alpha who bought her and asked her to give him a son.

"Why have I never heard him complain?" Irene murmured as she lay on her bed and looked up at the white sky of her room.

Even though Irene never heard any complaints directed at her, it actually made her quite curious about the mysterious Alpha. His face was always expressionless and Irene never knew if Adam was happy, sad, angry, pleased, or displeased with everything around him.

The feeling of tightness in her chest suddenly returned when she remembered her past and her fate that brought her to this situation. Since her arrival, Irene knew that no one would ever like her. Her self-worth was already worthless after she gave herself up to Adam Hemmings. Irene couldn't lie to herself about her desire to complain and escape from everything after what she had been through.

Although there was another side that made her feel a little grateful because at least she could enjoy a comfortable bed, delicious food every day, and wear nice clothes only with all the facilities provided by Adam to her. Slowly, drowsiness began to spread throughout Irene's body. The feeling of fullness and comfort, added with a very comfortable bed, made Irene feel sleepy.

"I'm going to sleep for a few minutes." she murmured before starting to close his eyes. Irene's entire vision darkened instantly.

There was nothing else Irene could see as she now heard the sound of his breathing becoming more stable, and his consciousness slowly faded away.

The sun, which had previously shone brightly to show that it was the brightest of all, now began to dim and turn orange. Gradually, its light was replaced by the bright moon, which tried to illuminate the darkness of the forest in the middle of the night.

Irene, realizing that her room was dark, slowly began to stretch her body and blink her eyes a few times. Her consciousness began to return, and the eyes that had been closed for the last 8 hours finally opened.

"Oh my god, how long did I sleep?" murmured Irene as she looked around and searched for a clock to see the current time.

Feeling like she couldn't find anything around her, Irene got up from her bed and turned on the lamp through the switch located right next to the entrance door.

Instantly, her room was brightened by the light of the lamp. Irene walked to the balcony of her room and looked out at the view outside.

The moonlight that was supposed to illuminate the darkness of the forest at night was now obscured by black clouds. "I thought it would be a perfect full moon tonight," Irene said as she looked at the moon, which didn't shine as brightly as usual.

The last time she saw a perfect full moon was about a month ago. Even then, Irene couldn't enjoy it because its beautiful light was obscured by the howling of werewolves transforming into their wolf form.

Just hearing the howling of the werewolves made Irene tremble, let alone seeing them. So that night, Irene just stayed inside her room, closing all the windows with curtains and locking her bedroom door.

Bored with what she was doing, Irene turned around and went back into her room. She tried to close her eyes again, but because her sleepiness had disappeared, exhausted by her daytime nap that lasted until night, Irene had insomnia.

Irene's dry and hoarse throat finally made her decide to leave her room and head to the kitchen area to get a drink. The atmosphere of the house was very quiet and had become a usual thing for Irene. Irene walked leisurely through the kitchen, took a drink, and sipped it until it was finished.

"Ah, how refreshing!" murmured Irene, wiping the corners of her mouth.

After quenching her thirst, Irene intended to return to her room. However, her footsteps stopped in front of a room opposite hers. The door of the room was always closed and never opened for her.

Since Irene's arrival, she had never looked inside that room. Although Adam often offered to let Irene in and do their activities in his room, they would always do it in Irene's room instead, with various things that could make Irene pregnant.

Slowly, Irene's hand approached and grabbed the handle of Adam's room door, then opened it slowly. The room looked dark as if there was no one inside.

"He probably hasn't come back yet," said Irene, then intended to close Adam's room door again but stopped when she heard the sound of someone's breathing coming from the middle of the room.

Irene's hair stood on end, but at the same time, it made her curious. Irene entered the dark room and felt the sound of the breathing getting closer.

"Mr. Adam?" she called.
