Evie stood by the bathroom door with a frown. Her mate was inside the female bathroom? But how? Or maybe, she had overreacted. Perhaps it wasn’t time yet. However, just as she turned to return, the gnawing in her heart returned, pulling her towards the door. It was like a force she couldn’t resist or ignore. Again, she could feel her wolf trying to communicate with her. Whatever she wanted to say, Evie wished to know.
Left with no choice, she pulled the door handle open and went in straight.
The scene she met was the exact opposite of the ones in her dream. Although she had never dreamt of meeting her mate in a female bathroom, she had dreamt of meeting a prince charming who with all smiles, awaited her to come to him and gave her an embrace of acceptance the minute she did come to him.
However, the scene before her was… At the far end of the bathroom was a man with his pants pooling at his feet and his phallus buried deep inside a lady; she looked like one from the lower noble families. He was pumping in and out of her while she clamped her mouth to hold back her moans.
It was the same man who had caused a scene earlier with his entrance. Alpha Ronan of the Blue Moon pack. The sworn enemy of her clan.
For strange reasons, the scene before her caused anger to pool inside her. The two people had barely even noticed her; each seeking their own climax. She had decided to leave, but the next moment, she found herself marching towards them with an anger that shook her entire body. It was only when she was close that they did notice her.
Seeing her, the lady had a terrified expression. “Princess.”
“Get out!” She bellowed at her. She had never had to scold anyone or scream orders at anyone before. Now that she tried it, it somehow felt good. So good.
Quickly releasing her dress, she willingly released herself off the man she was pleasuring, scampering out of the bathroom without bothering to clean up. It disgusted Evie more. Although it was her first time seeing such scene, she had read in the books she sneaked into her room from the library that there was a need to clean up after each mess.
“Princess.”
When she returned her gaze to the man, he was already properly dressed, like nothing had happened.
“If it wasn’t your coming-of-age ball, I would have asked if you wanted to replace her. Was that why you sent her away?”
Evie swallowed; her heart had begun to thump loudly, and a feeling of excitement raced through her veins. Was this it? But why was it him?
“Do you feel it?”
He picked up a disposable hot towel from the side and slowly wiped his hands. “Does your father know you are in here with me?” A cold chuckle escaped his lips. “He sure has some guts to leave his precious daughter with me inside the restroom. Have I become that soft?”
Evie barely heard him. All she wanted at that moment was to fulfil her wolf’s wish to kiss his mouth shut and get him to put his mark on her. Subconsciously, she took a step forward.
“If I were you, I’d run along now. Don’t tempt the beast while it still sleeps. I am no saint.”
Evie wanted to chuckle. Why did she sense the panic in his voice? Does that mean he felt it too? Her eyes were stuck to his blue ones; they seemed to have some kind of energy that kept pulling her towards him.
Steadying her shaking legs, she took another step forward, ignoring her wolf’s inner voice to pounce on him and capture his lips. At the seventh step, she was a few inches away from him. He too seemed to have lost his voice and was watching her as if anticipating her next move.
Then she moved, her hands hovering in the air for a second before landing lightly on his folded arms. There it was—what she needed to confirm her suspicions. The sparks. It was a thing between mates. Each time they touched each other, there was bound to be an electrifying sensation; so small and harmless. It made her want to close her eyes and focus on the sensation.
“Princess.”
His voice made her eyes snap open. She hadn’t even realized she had closed them. His blue eyes were shining brighter than they had been when she had first seen them, and his veins seemed to be burgling from his hands.
“You feel it too, don’t you?” She didn’t want to be direct. After all, she was still the princess of her clan. She still had to save herself some face.
He flung her hands away immediately, taking a few steps backwards. “I’d advise that you return to your little party. Shouldn’t you be looking for someone else at this point?”
Her brows squinted. Why was he trying to run away? Why was he denying whatever it was between them? “Why should I be looking for someone else when I have found him who I seek?”
She took another step forward, but he took another backwards in exchange. A chuckle escaped her lips. She was so loving the chase. She took another step forward, and he did step backwards. “We can continue like this. Or, you can admit the truth and spare us the chase.”
He frowned; his signature cold, ruthless frown that sent chills down people’s spine. If it had been before, she probably would have cowered in fear, but at that moment, he looked so cute to her.
“You seem not to be scared of me.”
“Is there a reason I should?”
Her reply seemed to shock him, even when he hid it perfectly with a cold laugh. “Your father hasn’t told you what I am capable of, I see. A word of advice? Stay far away from me. You don’t want to see the other side of me.”
She hesitated for a while before a bright, innocent smile appeared on her face. “Well, I look forward to seeing every part of you…” She paused, her voice lowering to a whisper. “Mate.”
His eyes wavered, changing quickly from its beautiful blue color to a brown one and back. She knew it was his wolf fighting to come out. The name-calling had worked. However, before she could say a word, he jumped out through the nearest window, transforming into a large white Lycan as he disappeared into the woods.
Evie stood there for a long time after he left, his scent filling her entire nose and numbing her senses. She longed to chase after him and follow him back to wherever he was headed, but she knew she would never catch up with him unless he wanted her too. Her wolf still needed some training to be able to run that fast. With a sad sigh, she finally turned to return to the ball, wondering why nobody had come to use the bathroom since she walked in.
Had he done something? Or was she just overthinking?
“There you are!” It was her mother, walking up to her with a sweet smile the minute she was out. your father and I were looking all over for you. Come. There are some guests we’ll like you to meet.”
Although she knew what her mother was up to, she still followed behind like a puppet. They were trying to help her find her mate faster. How should she tell them that she had already found him and he happened to be someone they may not accept?
"Ha, Miss Cullen." Evie shook hands with one of the noblewomen who was a dear friend of her mother."Happy birthday, Princess. You're looking beautiful like usual." The woman said with a bright smile on her lips."Please don't flatter me, Milady. You're looking more beautiful." Evie looked down at the woman's blue dress that fitted her beautiful slender body. "Please stop it." The woman waved at her and turned to her mother. "She's so beautiful, just like you, Your Majesty." The woman chuckled. "Come on, Ethan. Entertain your friend we'll be back." And thus the women left, leaving them all alone."They have no idea don't they?" Ethan chuckled, as they both walked to the dance floor.Evie straightened her dress before they began the dance."They don't." Evie sighed, as they began to dance to the slow beautiful music of the orchestras."Have you seen him today? Or you haven't tried enough?" Her best friend asked. Well, Ethan and Gwendolyn were the only friends she could make since she
The morning was not as bright as usual. "Rise and Shine, your highness." This time it wasn't just Ethan in her room but also with Gwendolyn who had a smile on her face."Gwen." She called out, excitedly."Yes, your Highness. Of course, I have to be here when I didn't come last night. Tell me how it went down. I want to hear all of it." Gwen squealed as she jumped on the bed."You're going to have your coming-of-age party soon, Gwendolyn. How do you see yourself in the coming month?" Ethan asked, taking a seat on the chair."I want nothing but to see my mate standing inches away from me with a smile on his lips as I dance towards him with a flower in my hand. He must be handsome and very calm. I don't want a violent man, I'll kill him myself." "Such high standards for little you," Ethan commented, earning a scowl from Gwen who bent down to their him a shoe."Tell me how everything went, Evie. I'm so dying to know." Gwen begged, palming her hands together as she wanted nothing but the
Evie stormed to the throne room and thankfully her parents were seated there, talking about the same war."Evie?""A war?" Evie asked. "Why go to war now?" She was sure everything was fine a few days ago. Her father had made sure to stay away from his clan and any boundary whatsoever. She didn't like that they were going to go to war again."Mother, can you debrief me on this, please?" Her mother didn't look any happy at all.She looked devastated by the news."Not now, Princess." The Queen mumbled, following up on the news she had heard."But Mom, you should know that I'm old enough to know about the Kingdom's affair. Most importantly, about a war looming up." She didn't back down like her mother wanted her to, but instead pushed it further. "Go to your room. I'll send some items to you and your friends." Her mother dismissed her with a wave of her hand.Evie couldn't sit back and do anything. She had never been curious about wars before, but this was the first time, and like they s
"He's my mate." She said again, waiting for her parents to process what they had just heard."We don't understand what you're talking about, Evie. Are you saying that Ethan is your mate?" Her mother asked again."Not Ethan, Mom. Alpha Ronan." She replied, her eyes went damp with tears. She surely didn't like the look in her mother's eyes. The woman wasn't happy at all and she didn't like the fact that no one was saying a word."Mother? Father?" She called. Her mother laughed. "I'm sure you're wrong, baby. I would have caught on that if it were true. I have a strong sense of judgment, sweetie." Her mother waved her off like it wasn't something they had to talk about."This isn't some judgemental case, Mom. He's my mate, and we met that day in the female bathroom. He's my mate, we both felt it... that's why he left early that day." She explained."I don't understand this, Evie. Why didn't you tell us about this then? Why did you keep it within yourself? Does anyone know about this?" He
The fight was becoming more fierce than he had ever wanted. He would have stopped but then the stupid king had to bring in more troops and that had taken a lot of men from his side.He had to fight back, he wouldn't want to be called weak.Alpha Ronan stood in front of his armies. His huge mighty men of valor. Men that had been through all principalities and hardships of the world.Men that had conquered the world by his side. His thoughts drifted to the ball that was held days ago.The little princess was dancing with someone else..her friend perhaps. He couldn't help but wonder why the moon goddess, out of everyone in the world, would give him something so weak, fragile, and a daughter of his one and only enemy. He wasn't going to end this fight till the stupid king called a truce. He was one step away from breaking through the gates and claiming the whole Kingdom as his."Your Majesty." He looked up, eyes dark and brows creased. He waited patiently for the news."They've sent men.
Evie's day was going perfectly well. She had just finished painting and her whole body was covered in paint, not that she would have minded if it were her folly that got the paint there... but no, standing beside her was her best friend who had begun to make a mess out of everything."I painted a dog. Look at this beautiful painting and tell me about its origin..""I think it originated from the forest at the West border." Ethan shook his head. "That looks like a buffalo when wet. Appreciate the artwork and do not use it to play around." He cautioned."Well, I'm sorry, Daddy. I didn't mean to, besides... What the hell are you drawing?" Gwen burst into laughter."Well, that is what I call a crying dolphin and it's missing eggs," Evie said, taking a peak at the other board."What do you even know about art? Do you think everyone who paints is an artist?" Ethan huffed, dipping his brush and coloring his perfection."No, I don't think so. But what do you call them? Artisan?" Evie asked wi
Evie was thrilled. When her father disclosed the reason, her mate had stopped the war..she was really happy. Was this the reason he had begun the war at all? All he had to do was send a letter that he wanted her as his mate and she would have run down there even if her parents never wanted her to.She bit her lips and smiled when she walked out of the palace rooms."Hey." Gwendolyn was the first to approach."Are you okay? Was he badly hurt?" She asked."Father was hurt, but it's not deep. It's just a flesh wound, and by the way..it wasn't intentional." Evie couldn't help the smile that formed on her lips."It seems like something happened; do tell." Gwendolyn smiled as well, pushing closer to her friend, who had taken a seat on the bench.Maids had begun to clean the floor they had littered with paints."Where's Ethan?" Evie asked, looking around."Here he is. Do you mind adding a little salt to that? It's going to clean with ease." Ethan walked back to the fountain with a little sal
The journey to the other clan was too exciting for Evie. She would peek out of the carriage, giggling at the thought of being a Luna. There was this feeling of happiness that would flutter in her stomach each time she thought of her mate."Do you have some sweets there?" She asked, gesturing for her maid that was sitting with the Coachman to come into the carriage."Sweets, your Majesty?" The maid asked and she nodded."You're not supposed to take sweets, Your Majesty. You have to keep fit till you see the King." "I will see him either way. Do you have some, Junping?" She asked, and the maid nodded, pulling out two sweets from her hair."Ha! Brilliant." Evie clapped her hands, collecting one from the maid who had begun to munch on hers.Earlier before she had begun her journey, her mother had confiscated everything she had hidden in her dress. Examples were; apples, berries, and sweets, lots of sweets."To be a Luna of the Blue Moon Clan, then you have to have a fitted body, Your Maj
