At her coming-of-age party, Princess Evie discovers that her mate was Alpha Ronan, her family’s long-sworn enemy. Theirs was a generational enmity that started years ago and had always been passed down from one generation to the next. Alpha Ronan was arrogant, possessive, and listened to no one; like he had made an entrance in her coming-of-age party without invitation. To stop the oncoming war between the two clans, she gladly offers to be sent to her mate’s clan as a treaty. However, the mate bond seemed to have very little effect on the ruthless Alpha, who locks her up just to show off his might to her clan. Evie finds a way to make him release her and realize he was not as heartless as she had thought. However, one thing poses a problem. Her mate was a sex addict who would sleep with just any lady who is willing. Jealous, Evie fights the other women for attention and when it doesn’t work, she returns to her clan dejected. However, she doesn’t stay long as soon, she returns to learn the full story of what had turned him to a sex freak. Things were beginning to go smoothly for the both of them, or so Princess Evie thought until one morning, she receives a letter of her parent’s death with all evidence pointing towards her mate that she was beginning to fall in love with. At that point, she is torn about what to do. Will she ignore the hard-core evidence to protect her mate? Will she choose him over her clan? Or will she trust the facts and abandon the life she was beginning to create with him?

Inside her room, Evie hugged her cinnamon-scented pillow tightly with a blissful smile playing on her face. She had had the same dream again—the dream that she had always longed for. She closed her eyes for a minute, ignoring the voice of the maid outside her grand chamber’s door to reminiscence. It was a large ball; just like the one her father was planning for her that evening, and a large crowd. And then, in the middle of it all, she finds her mate, who is stricken by her beauty at first sight, and they danced away for the rest of the evening. He was everything she wished for—a tall glass of hot chocolate with a cold aura that scared away other maidens except her. Throughout their dance, he had eyes only for her and wouldn’t stop showering her with praises of her beauty.
Evie sighed. It was a dream she had had since she was a child. As the princess of her clan, she had attended a few coming-of-age balls with her parents, and they had always been so magical. Two parts were her all-time favorite. The first is when the birthday girl’s wolf comes into full display and she is allowed to run into the woods for at least an hour to get used to her wolf side. Of course, if it was the daughter of a noble, a guard was sent after her to keep her safe and was in charge of bringing her back in exactly an hour to avoid keeping the guests waiting for too long. A big window is often designed for allowing her wolf jump over to the woods.
Her second all-time favorite was when the girl finally met her mate. From the gossip, she had heard several times that it all begins with a quickened heartbeat and the feeling of your wolf pushing you towards a particular direction; alongside a feeling of sudden excitement. Gosh! That part was her most favorite. She had often imagined herself in their shoes. A wedding is then announced before the end of the ball.
“Your Highness.” The maid outside called again, interrupting her train of thoughts. She frowned. If only she had gotten her super strength that comes with the first transformation, she would have thrown her down the balcony.
“Come in.” She pulled the bed spread over her body, making sure her petticoat was out of sight.
The big door opened, and her maid came in, pushing in a long trolley of dresses. At the sight of the dresses, Evie flung aside the large spread, jumping off the bed with a visible smile. She had even forgotten to scold the maid for interrupting her thoughts earlier.
That’s right! In a few hours, it was going to be her coming-of-age ball.
In a few hours’ time, she probably wouldn’t have to dream anymore. The man of her dream would be standing right before her, and just before the end of the ball, a wedding would be announced.
The thought made her smile.
“The Queen asked me to let you pick what you would wear for the evening.”
Evie clapped her hands in excitement, trying to hide her nervous side. “Great! Where is mother?”
“Inspecting the decorations in the hall, Your Highness.”
She swallowed. All her life, she had never had the chance to pick her own dress, and despite that it excited her, she was scared of making mistakes. “Tell mother to please come when she’s done?”
“Of course, Your Highness.”
The minute the maid went out, Evie jumped on her bed, pulling open the large curtains. Sure, it was busy outside. From the kitchen maids to the cleaning maids, all hands were on deck. It made her excitement grow. This was truly happening!
“Get off the bed, Evie.” A voice called behind her.
She turned quickly to see not just her mother but her father standing by the door too.
“Mother! Father!” She jumped off the bed to greet them.
“Happy birthday, Princess.” Her father told her in his usual cheerful tone. Perhaps she was being too skeptical, she could detect a trace of sadness in his voice. Was he sad? But why?
“Thank you, father.” She humored them, bowing like a princess. That did lighten up the atmosphere.
“We know we may not get the chance to do this later, so we got your present.” Her father announced.
Evie looked at the box in her father’s hands with so much curiosity. Each year since she was born, she has always received a present from them. this one looked a bit more special. “Thank you so much, father. Mother.”
With excitement coursing through her, she opened the box, her gaze shifting from her mother to her father. The moment she looked down on the box, a soft gasp escaped her lips. “No way!”
Her mother chuckled. “You like?”
“I love!” Starring back at her was golden necklace carrying the crest of their clan. It was a family heirloom that she had only heard about. “A-are you sure you want to give this to me?”
Her father patted her hair with a smile. “You are all grown up now. Probably, you’ll find your mate tonight. We want you to keep it as a token of your roots—your clan and your family.”
She caressed the piece of treasure gently, her eyes welling with tears. “Thank you so much, father.”
Her mother chuckled. It was hard to see Evie shed a tear. She had always been the strong one—even stronger than her dear mother. “As much as I’d love to see you finally shed some tears, we have to prepare for the ball. Come on now.”
The King sat on the rock close to the garden. He was picking up pebbles and throwing them into the little river that ran along the flowers and leaves. He looked up, and Morak was coming down the stairs."Isn't it a bit odd to see the King of the Blue Moon Clan throwing pebbles into the river?" Morak asked as he descended down the stairs and stood by the rock where the King sat.The King of the Blue Moon Clan looked up, brows creased in confusion and palms clenched. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out.He badly wanted to let it all out, but he couldn't say a thing."Is it about the Princess?" Morak guessed, and the King's eyes snapped back to him instantly."How did you know?" He scoffed and stood up, shaking his head in the process."She's well mannered, she's a beauty, and she dresses smart. Do you think it's normal for me to...." He sighed again.."You know for me to..." The King chuckled, like it was too hard for him to say. And it definitely was."You know for me to j
The King moved swiftly, grabbing her hand and pushing her back without touching his own sword. His sword was still sheathed and was stuck into the ground next to him.Alpha Ronan had decided to show the Princess of the Crystal Clan what it took to beat him, the King of the Blue Moon Clan.He chuckled when she groaned and came forward again. He shook his head. "Keep moving like that, and you're going to die. Patience is a virtue, Princess." He said and she rolled her eyes.Evie dropped her sword as well, her hands laid flat on the ground as he pushed her back again. The King was like an immovable rock. She looked around, and Lady Quinn and Lady Salvatore were hailing her to keep the good work going. She ran quickly once again, pressing her knee on the wet field. She grabbed the King's leg and pulled him down.Alpha Ronan, with deep interest, was going to see what the Princess of Crystal Clan could do.He was thrilled at first when Morak had told him how good she was at fighting, and he
The meadow was beautiful, like Evie had imagined it to be. She assembled the arrows and then the swords she had brought for the six of them.It was nice seeing that they were all in the huge meadow, all together to shoot and learn how to do that. She had never thought the Lord would tag along, and she was happy he did."Are you sure it's the same? I don't think it is." Lady Quinn said, picking up the dry meat to drop it on the plates she had begun to arrange."Really? I actually thought it was the same thing." Evie said, scrunching up her nose in disgust as she watched the Lady Quinn drop another piece of meat into the fry pan.The meadow visit had somehow turned into a picnic, a big picnic she was enjoying. She kept shuffling through the bags she had dropped, only for something to fall down. When she bent to pick it, big, huge hands had already picked it up from the ground, and she turned around to see the King pocketing the item in his garments."Is it yours?" She squinted her eyes
When they got to the dungeon, the woman was tied to a pillar that stood tall in the middle of the dungeon where she was kept.Evie scrunched her nose due to the stench that came from everywhere.'God! How was the woman perceiving all these?' She wondered."Wake her up." Alpha Ronan ordered, and a bucket of water was poured on the woman, snapping her out of sleep..She gasped, looking around as her breath increased knowing, she was captured."Who sent you? Let's not beat around the bush.. I'd like to end this quickly." He said, picking up a rod that Evie had not seen.It was at the bottom of the table, close to where the woman's feet were kept. Was he really going to..."Hmm?" The King hummed, looking at the rod like it was something interesting. Well, for him it was."Who sent you? I won't be merciful again and ask you that. Better spill what you know." He clicked his tongue. The woman said nothing, probably wanting to see what the King of the Blue Moon Clan could possibly do.Thud! T
Evie unsheathed her sword, and blocked another arrow that was coming her way.. she did the same thing all over again.Morak grabbed his bow and shot three arrows at the same time towards where the arrows were coming from. The shooting ceased, and Evie used that time to run towards the middle of the woods. She grabbed a branch and jumped on another branch."Be careful, Princess." She heard Morak's voice yell."Hello there." Another voice came from above her.Evie pushed the branch, stretching her leg and kicking the woman that was on the branch."Too slow." The woman whispered and kicked the branch where Evie was standing, and she fell..not after grabbing the other branch and bringing the woman with her. When they landed on the ground, Evie smiled when the woman stood up as well, clenching her fist. Her sword had fallen far off, and thankfully, the woman had no sword and bow to shoot. So they would have to fight with their hands. She caught the assassin's hand and blocked effortlessly.
The next day, being a free bird was the best thing ever. Evie was getting closer to everyone in the palace.Evie picked up the chess piece. Every chess piece meant one thing, and she was willing to find out what it was.Just like the chess piece, the files given to her by the King were a hidden piece she had to find. She placed the files on the table, and picking up the ink, she began to fill in the spaces. She could do it. She could show the King that a woman could do anything and everything a man could."Are you still hellbent on proving the King wrong, Your Highness?" She nodded, smiling as she arranged the files once again. She picked up the files concerning the man who murdered his wives and children most cruelly, and then another film about a drunkard who had his way with a girl and killed her."Why are all these files completed even though it was just a week ago?" She asked."Because it was completed? They don't keep uncompleted files in the drawer if they aren't completed. Mil
