Angie“Wait! What do you mean the police have been by? How long have I been out of it?” I look between Brandon and Anton. I couldn’t have been sitting here more than ten minutes.“You have been lost in your own thoughts for about two hours now.” Brandon looks at me with a softness in his eyes.“Have you both been inside?” I look between the two of them again.“Yeah. I walked through with the police. It seems like whoever was here was looking for something specific. My guess is probably something to do with your connection with Lindsey and finding out more about her life before Reece.” Anton tells me.“You are both coming to my place tonight. There is no way I am leaving you, either of you, up for grabs for something else to happen. Someone has already been sent to your place Anton to check it out as well. You are both moving into my building. We have too much to lose and you both are very important.“I just don’t understand. If they want information, why break in and trash my place? Wh
AngieAfter a not so restful night of tossing and turning. I finally get up and make my way to the bathroom. I figure I might as well just get up and start my day.The guest room Brandon has me in what looks like a luxury suite at a hotel. All the finest furnishings, the softest bed and duvet imaginable, but a cold feeling like it’s all for show. He clearly doesn’t have guests often. After a shower in the en-suite bathroom, I got dressed in my fluffy pajamas and pulled open my laptop. I had a few leads with these guys. Their internet presence is not very well protected. And all the arm candy they pay to keep them pleasured post far too often with locations services on. It has been pretty easy to track movements and possible associates. I’m starting to put together a timeline over the last 6 months for Eyler, Old Man Raines and all of the other board members. I know that Lindsey likes Reg and his wife, but I figure I should cover all of my bases. The one person who I did not expect to c
50 Angie We put together the timeline of travel with the timeline for purchases. The only difference is Old Man Raines made a few additional stops. About once a month he stayed in Florida for an extra two days before heading out to whichever of the three destinations he was scheduled to be at. “What’s in Florida? Anton asks, looking over to Max clearly hoping for an easy explanation. “Not sure. It could be many things. He has always traveled there, always taken mistresses there. He has a few business friends that have boats and oceanfront properties.” Max shrugs his shoulders. “He could be doing anything during the time he spent there. He is clearly good at covering his tracks.” “Well, we have enough to be getting on with. I need to get Reece and Lindsey caught up with what we do know. Maybe one of them will be able to help us with that question.” “Are you really going to interrupt them?” Max chuckles. “Do you want to do it?” Brandon looks at him with an eyebrow raised
Lindsey We were only gone for three days, but it was amazing. I think we both just needed the chance to be together, essentially making up for time we never got. There was no dating period for us and everything changed so quickly. And before we could get used to the changes, this whole business with Raines Corporation blew up in our faces. Now that we know that people are out to damage Reece’s reputation and dismantle Raines Corporation and we at least have leads on the people involved we have something to work with. Reece hasn’t said anything about it and I don’t want to pry, but I know he is still feeling betrayed and probably stupid for not seeing what was going on in his own company. He was just putting up with these old guys' antics until he could find a legitimate reason to ask them to step away and his loyalty is coming back to bite him in the ass. As much as everyone talks about how ruthless he is in negotiations, he really does care about people and doesn’t want to inte
Lindsey I drug Angie down the hall to Reece’s office. She was not getting out of this and I have been on a version of lockdown since the incident at the restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, I love Reece and James and Dominic, but I have had a babysitter at every moment of the day since then. I already have to watch what I do and say in public because of what is going on with the company, but now I feel like I can’t even be myself around my friends. Sometimes a girl just wants to dish about what is going on in her love life without the love of her life being in the room, is that too much to ask? I walk up to Reece’s door, which is wide open, he’s sitting at his desk deep in thought staring at his computer. I knock on the door frame and he looks up quickly like I startled him. “Hey Dove, come on in.” He scrubs a hand over his face like he’s trying to wake himself up. He notices my dragging Angie and looks at us questioningly. “What’s going on?” He raises one eyebrow. “I need a girls
Lindsey Thump, thump, thump, thump, thump…. Ugh! Did Angie overload the washing machine again? What the hell? I don’t want to open my eyes. My head feels swollen and my brain feels sluggish. What did Angie and I do last night? I just want to fall back to sleep, clearly my body wants nothing to do with being awake right now. Thump, thump, thump…. I tried to turn over to see what time it was and if I could reasonably ignore the rhythmic destruction of our laundry room, but I couldn’t move. Huh?! I inhale sharply taking in the tangy, spicy scent of a man’s cologne and my eyes fly open to find my face pressed up to the hard planes of a chest. My arm is carefully draped across sculpted abs. I’m so confused right now, where am I? I slowly drag my hand up the ridges of muscle, letting my eyes shamelessly watch them ripple under my touch. The smell of all man engulfs my senses and I decide that I don’t care what Angie and I got up to last night, if this is what came back to our apa
Reece This meeting has been going on for hours and I am about done with all of these guys. They can all go to f*cking hell for all I care. We are all businessmen. We have all done what we needed to do to make our businesses the best, and not all of those things were on the up and up. But, the sh*t that started to fly when I confronted them was ridiculous. No one wants to take ownership for their own involvements, placing blame and responsibility on anyone else in the room including me. I just roll my eyes and rub my temples, a headache forming at their bickering. I can’t even check on Lindsey to see how she is feeling. I made all of us turn off our phones and computers and leave them in another room that is locked. I don’t trust any of these guys anymore. Even Reg, although I don’t think he ever did anything to intentionally hurt me or my company, he has been just as involved as myself with these dealings and we are both going to pay for the greed of the rest of these idiots.
Lindsey What did Angie give me last night? Seriously, I can feel my arms and legs but moving them is a whole other story and my head is pounding yet again. Reece is right, I really need to get this checked out. Without opening my eyes I turn my head to the side hoping my body will follow and get the blood flowing so I can at least hit the bathroom before I pee myself. As I roll over, instead of finding the edge of my bed, I am met with another person. It’s definitely not Reece though based on the soft feel. My eyes shoot open, the f*ck? I’m met with a whole mop of bleached blonde hair and the smell of drunkenness and vomit warmed over. I wanted to gag, but I had bigger problems. I sat up slowly and took a good look around for the first time. I’m in a giant king-sized bed with crisp white sheets and an extra fluffy comforter. The walls were a pale shade of tan with a couple generic teal and white abstract paintings hanging. To the right of the bed was a small dining area wit
