"They can't be the same person. The King family's heiress is a genius with many degrees and a high GPA of 7.5. I heard that she started a company on her own without using her family's connections or any funding," Jessica continued to say. She was actually testing him.

Jessica had been talking and making conversation, but Kayden wasn't responding. But when she mentioned the name Elise, his attention was suddenly on her. That meant that she was right; Kayden was thinking about Elise. Why would he think about her when he didn't care about her for three years? The more Jessica thought about it, the more worried she became.

Elise woke up the next morning, sprawled on the bed. She had a great time last night. She actually went with Mike to understand the current situation and financial trends in Massachusetts. A human who had lived in the city for decades could give her information better than the internet.

She rose early, washed up, and got dressed before she headed downstairs to eat her breakfast. Penelope had made some waffles and milk.

"Where are you going so fast? You haven't eaten yet,"

"Just pack it up. I'm going to my new office and the old one I set up last time. Time to get to work,"

At the office, Elise discussed her new plans with a few of her high-level employees. She held meetings and familiarized herself with the company, staff, and employees.

"Miss, you want to open a brand on skincare and cosmetics? Clothes and jewelry? There's a lot of competition," One manager said.

"I know. But I like competition. It makes me do my best and strive harder," Elise said.

"I hope you don't become dejected once you lose or fall through," Penelope snorted teasingly.

"There's a charity event this afternoon. You'll get to make connections and an appearance. The people you might meet there can give you opportunities. I'm sure you know to grab them. There are many more projects that you can work on," Ellison handed her a thick file.

"Do I have to attend many parties?" Elise groaned. She wasn't used to wearing high heels, and so her feet might hurt the entire time at the charity.

"It's like that if you're new to the business world, which you're not, but you came late. Bear with it. I'll reward you when you're back," Ellison coaxed her, patting her head.

By reward, he meant that he would cook her favorite food for her. Elise sighed in bliss. She had a total of four brothers who would dote on her because she was the youngest and only female in their generation. For years, the King family didn't have any daughters no matter how much they tried to get one.

Elise happened to be born female and thus she was doted on by everyone. Even her uncles and their wives doted on her. Well, that's what she got when the whole family had males.

Now that she was back and had taken back her business empire, she could enjoy her brothers' endless doting and pampering.

.......

At the charity event.

Elise arrived there and walked into the hall with Penelope by her side. As soon as she stepped foot into the building, her eyes met with Jessica's.

"Good morning, Elise," Jessica said politely, approaching her.

However, she was ignored by Elise. Elise already understood her true colors. Therefore, she didn't waste time greeting her. What kind of woman would still pretend to be innocent when she fucked another woman's husband next door in the same house?

Jessica wasn't used to getting snubbed. People were always praising her for her beauty and gentleness. She liked to hear them compare her to Elise, who was known as the ugly, plain wife.

Elise was about to walk to the other side when her eyes saw something. Her damned in-laws were at the charity event too. Did Kayden bring his whole family here?

Actually, Amanda and Maria wanted to go by themselves. These two wouldn't miss out on the chance to show off their wealth and parade in front of the media. Maria had aspirations to become a celebrity and an icon in the States. Therefore, she needed to make connections.

Her mood dropped when she witnessed Elise.

This was Elise's first time joining a charity event after more than ten years. She could not resist feeling nervous and anxious as she would be in front of the spotlight after so many years. Elise took a deep breath.

"Let's go. Don't be nervous. You got me, okay?" Penelope laughed to ease the tension.

"Yeah,"

The two ladies walked in, dressed in long exquisite evening gowns. The moment they walked in, countless flashlights shone, with journalists scrambling to interview these socialites and big shots. But Elise and Penelope strode off fast before they had a chance to.

People were stunned and curious as to who these women were.

When Elise walked into the charity hall, she looked like a fairy who had woken up and accidentally stumbled into a human world. Everyone turned and looked at her. At that same time, her gaze connected with Kayden's.

Huh, just how bad was her luck?

Why were Kayden and Jessica everywhere? It seemed like God was playing the fool with her fate.

Everyone recognized Penelope Lark but not Elise.

"Who's that beauty with Miss Lark?"

Jessica eyed Penelope Lark and Elise, anger and jealousy burning beneath her gentle eyes. Previously, she had tried to get close to the Larks, but it was impossible. The Larks ignored her and treated her as insignificant. So how did a nobody like Elise manage to meet with Penelope? Was this all possible because of Ellison King?

A man suddenly came into Elise's view. He didn't shy away from looking at her from head to toe in what others might call an ambiguous stare.

"Mr. D'Angelo," Elise greeted with a smile.

Clinton D'Angelo was one of Ellison's business partners. The two had seen each other before, but it was many years ago. He was known for being a romantic man with a sexy Italian accent. He was handsome, tanned, and had tattoos peeking out from underneath his collar. Many people suspected that he had something to do with the Mafia.

"Miss King," he took her hand and kissed it, and Kayden happened to witness this scene.

Considering the years Elise spent in the mansion, the maids and servants must be close to her. If not, Elise wouldn't have stood up for them. What Amanda was afraid of was the maids and servants revealing how they treated her. "Who knows if you bribed them or what? These are all your lies! You just want to take revenge because my son is going to marry another woman! Isn't it because Jessica showed up today with Kayden, that's why you're sour over it?!" Amanda tried to steer the conversation away from the maids and servants topic. Elise knew what Amanda was thinking. "Don't change topics. I have nothing to do with Kayden or Jessica. They wanna go at it like rabbits, go ahead," Amanda's eyes widened and her chest heaved with anger. She wanted to rip Elise's mouth and pull her hair, but she couldn't. She had an image to maintain. "You crude, dirty bitch," Amanda hissed. "Do you want to get slapped too?" Elise fl

"Sure. I shall bid eighty million. Anything for you, dear Elise," Clinton smiled tenderly at her. Elise smiled back, and the two looked like they wanted to kiss each other and make out right there in front of everyone. Seeing this, Kayden grew even more disgusted and angry. Just how shameless could she be?! He raised his paddle. One hundred million! Clinton raised his. One hundred and fifty million! Everyone gasped and looked at the two men who seemed to have lost their minds. Even Jessica became scared. Amanda had just used up two hundred million and donated it to charity. Wouldn’t they be losing so much money? She didn’t want Kayden to lose money for no reason. That money could be given to her so she could buy many luxury items and cars that were more worth it. "A hundred and sixty million!" the host gasped when Kayden lifted his paddle again. "Let’s give up the bid, Clint. It’

"Call me Miss Thatcher," Elise said. Clinton raised an eyebrow in confusion. "I don't want my ex-husband to know my identity," "You're married? Why? Your ex-husband might see you in a better light. You're such a wonderful woman," Clinton flattered her. Elise nodded. "I don't want to rely on money and identity to get true love. If he didn't love me when I was a normal girl who devoted her life to him, he surely won't be sincere," "Makes sense. Call me Clinton then," "I'll call you Clint," Elise smiled. "Then I'll call you Ele," The two looked like they were flirting with each other. Elise remembered that he used to be thin and skinny in the past. Since when did he grow up to become so handsome and muscular? He was just her type. Too bad her heart was still having a hard time moving on from Kayden. Although she had divorced him, letting

  • Sorry Ex: You're Out Of My League    22 You're hard

"Shut the fuck up, Elise!" Kayden didn't know what to say to her taunts. He was shocked by the crude way she spoke and cursed. "Oh? Why? Isn't it the truth? You're the one who started it, dear ex-husband," she laughed, leaning into his touch. Her eyes were deeply enchanting yet devilishly. Elise rubbed her body against Kayden's. "I'm not two-timing Jessica! Stop doing that!" He used his knee to press on her thigh, to stop her from doing whatever she was trying to do. Elise knew that if she asked him to let her go, he wouldn't. So this time, she was going to make him let her neck go by himself! She wrapped her arms around his neck and smirked devilishly. "Are you sure the reason why you're hard is not because of me?" She dragged a finger across his jaw seductively. Elise didn't care anymore. She no longer cared how they saw her or thought of her. Back then, she didn't dare to be bold in front o

But then again, Elise King was a different person. She had been the daughter of the prestigious King family for years. Kayden shook off those thoughts. "What a wonderful day it is, Mr. Anderson. My apologies for being a poor host," Elijah smiled warmly and friendly. "Elise Thatcher! Why are you everywhere?! Are you stalking my brother?!" Upon seeing her, Maria burst out in anger. Elijah and his secretary were stunned. Did they know each other? "Miss Anderson, I was here first. How is that stalking? Or were you stalking me?" Elise chuckled, her legs swinging lightly at the edge of the couch like a carefree girl. Kayden saw her actions as a mock to his face. This woman! How could she behave like this?! Could it be that once she got herself a strong backing, she thought she could do whatever she wanted?! "Y-you!" Maria was about to lash out, but Amanda held her back, slapping on a fake smile at El
