Chapter thirty-two

She was so focused that she had not noticed my presence and was startled when I called out to her.

"Marcela," I said to get her attention.

"Hey, why don't you make some noise when you enter the kitchen, you scare me," she puts her hand to her heart.

"I called you many times, but I looked at the screen and you didn't listen to me." I put my arm around his shoulders and he pulled me close to see what he's looking at on the screen. "Do you like that guard?" I asked, only to get a punch in the stomach from his elbow.

"Respect, I'm an older woman, how do you think I like young boys these days?" Her expression feigned annoyance. "But the truth is, young Andrew, that boy is no guardian."

"How?"

"Like, that boy standing outside the gate of the house is not a guard, he's been there for a long time without moving, it's like he's waiting for something."

"Did you call my brother-in-law?" I picked up the tablet and watched the man pick up a cigarette and smoke.
