Chapter 6 Reckless

Linda POV

"Are you ready, Linda?"

I nodded firmly. A second later my body flew upwards and I did a backflip and landed perfectly.

Finally today's practice for the game in two weeks later was over. We did well so there wasn't much revision.

"Good job," I say to Hazel. She's very talented, I admit it.

"He comes." Hazel's eyes glanced behind me.

When I looked back, it was Jude that she was referring to.

There is a price to pay for every decision I make. However, the information Jude gave me yesterday was very meaningful and I had to keep my promise to him, to be his girlfriend.

My heart actually resists, but Jude is my only source of information right now. So I have to be good to him if I want him to keep giving me more information because I'm sure Jude has more.

I thought Jude was going to say hello to Hazel, but I was wrong. Jude kissed me instead, on the cheek.

It wasn't the location of the kiss that mattered, it was the situation! Everyone was looking at us, making us the center of attention for kissing in public.

They were cheering us on which made things even more heated.

"What are you doing?" I demanded angrily, holding back my anger.

Jude whispered into my ear, "we need to tell everyone that we're dating. I need to claim you in front of Drake so he knows the boundaries and thinks twice about bothering you."

I looked at Drake, he was on the bench with the other players getting ready to use the ice rink. He shot me another icy glare.

"It'll be weird if you leave first, so wait for me in the stands. I'll take you home."

Jude really put me in the wrong position. I was embarrassed, after all it was my first public kiss that attracted everyone's attention.

In the end I kept waiting for Jude with Hazel while doing my assignment. Hazel offered to accompany me so I didn't refuse.

"You're dating Jude?"

"Huh? Ah yes, we just started dating."

Hazel nodded and smiled afterwards. "He's a nice guy, right? He's warm and caring. He can definitely take good care of you."

I wanted to laugh but I held back. If only you knew the real Jude, Hazel. "Should I be proud of dating him?"

"Sure. When compared to Drake, you should be grateful. Because if you dated Drake, you'd get the opposite. Cold, standoffish, and short-tempered."

I chuckled in response to Hazel as a loud crash sounded from the ice rink.

I don't know when exactly, but Drake and Jude were already rolling around on the floor punching each other. Their helmets had come off so their fists hit each other's faces.

"Oh fuck! This is so bad!" Hazel shouted.

For a split second I saw Drake look at me before throwing another punch at Jude. He was dominating, while Jude looked helpless from his attack.

A fight between two werewolves never ends well, let alone this one between the two Alphas.

I have to do something to stop them because if I don't, there could be another victim. They are too strong for ordinary humans to handle. No one can separate them here but me.

Yes, I have to be their broker.

I ran down the stairs quickly and entered the ice rink. I pulled Drake's body. It was heavy, but I kept trying to keep Jude from becoming a meatloaf down there.

"Stop it! There are a lot of people watching you, Drake!"

Maybe because he heard my voice, Drake finally turned his head. And this was my chance to pull him off Jude's body.

I pushed Drake after pulling him up. Oh my, Jude's condition was really bad. His face was badly injured. His temples, nose, and lips were bleeding. He lost badly.

I helped Jude to stand up and gave Drake a sharp look. "You'll be ruined if you continue to be short-tempered. And you Jude, you're a fool for not fighting back."

My breath rose and fell with exasperation. When Hazel arrived, I pushed Jude towards her. "Please take care of him."

"But he's your boyfriend, Linda."

I didn't care about them anymore. I walked out of the building to cool my head. I was worried that if I stayed there, I might shift.

I went to the cheer base camp which was fortunately empty, there was no one here. I looked down and rubbed my face in frustration.

I had made a big mistake in dealing with the Alphas. I ate my own words where I wouldn't deal with the Pack leaders because it was so complicated. And now I felt it myself.

My phone rang. A call from Hazel.

I wanted to not pick it up but it kept ringing which made my head spin even more.

"What's wrong?"

[You need to get back here. Jude refuses to go to the clinic if you don't help him. Come on Linda, he needs you].

I squeezed my phone. "Is Drake still there?"

[No, he's gone.]

"Okay, I'll be there. Just wait a minute."

But just as I opened the door, Drake was suddenly standing in front of me.

"What are you doing here? This isn't a clinic."

"Treat me."

Didn't I hear wrong? He's the one making trouble and being cold to me but he also wants me to treat him? What kind of attitude is that!

"Please treat me."

I clucked in annoyance. "You're not seriously injured. It'll heal soon without you treating it. You didn't get wolfsbane or silver, don't overdo it."

I thought I was going to get a shout from him but what happened was unexpected. He suddenly hugged me, very tightly.

"Can you heal others? It works for others too?"

What did he mean by asking me that? What did he want from me?

"I need medicine. If you can heal others, then you're the medicine I'm looking for."

I tried to push him but his hug was too tight for me to breathe.

"You're hurting me."

He looked down, looking at me with his eyes already glazed over. He didn't say anything but suddenly kissed me.

Of course I rebelled. But after a while, I just felt my heart beating like it was that time when I saw him again after a long time.

It's a strange feeling, one I've never felt before. I wanted to push him but I didn't want to let go either. I'm mad at him but I also pity him.

I have no idea why I'm being like this.

He finally broke our kiss after we were both out of breath.

"You feel it too? Your heartbeat, you can feel things like that when you're in physical contact with your mate. And you Linda, you are my mate."

No, this can't be happening. I shouldn't have a mate who has involvement with my parents' incident.

Linda POV"That won't happen," I said. I followed him. "No one will think we're dating. Everyone already knows that you and I are dating."Jude glanced at me. "Rumours spread very quickly on campus, Linda. Today there's nothing, tomorrow suddenly everyone will think you have two boyfriends at the same time."I stopped. "If you're asking me to stay away from Drake completely, that's impossible, Jude. We're in the same class, we're in the same department. It's impossible.""If you can't stay away from him, then you have to always stay close to me."Oh, I see. If that's what he wants, it means he just wants to trap me so I'm tied to him. It felt pointless to run away here if he was still controlling my life. I left the pack to be free, not to be restrained. "Why did you stop? Don't you wanna go to the club?"The club he was referring to was a club consisting of people from our pack, who had moved here with him temporarily. Jude formed it. He named the club the 'Shadowclaw Society'. He

Linda POV Jude closed the door as soon as we arrived at the clinic. He locked it and approached me. Meanwhile, I remained alert. I stood still, but if Jude did something unexpected, I could attack him back."Are you sober? He's Drake, Linda. You know exactly who Drake is. You even suspect him. But you went out with him anyway, without telling me." He walked slowly forward. "Do you like him?""Nonsense, Jude!" I replied loudly. "Then what is this? What you did is the same as cheating on me."I held back my laughter. "We're not even dating because we love each other. So stop acting like you're hurt, Jude.""That's you, you don’t love me. But I love you, Linda."I smiled and turned my face aside. "Glad you know.""I forbade you from getting closer to Drake, but you did the opposite," he protested.I sighed. Honestly, today I was tired enough to deal with Drake and Mrs. Baker. So I really didn't want to deal with Jude too. Or I would turn into a lion right now."What are you planning,

Linda POV"You can get off now, Linda," Drake said. I got off Drake's motorcycle. "Okay." I turned around to meet Jude, who was waiting for me in the library. But I couldn't because Drake pulled my bag. "How can I contact you? I mean, I don't know what time you're free tomorrow to go there again."I sighed and looked for my phone in my bag. "Do I need to meet you at the clinic again?"I held out my palm. "Where's your phone?""Just a minute." Drake looked for it in his bag. Then he gave it to me. I connected one of my and Drake's chat applications. After it was successful, I returned the phone to him. "Call me on that number. You see my name, right? Linda."Drake looked at his phone screen and a smile appeared on his face. "Okay. I understand.""Okay. Then I'll be going now," I said goodbye. I put my phone back in my bag and walked a little faster after receiving a new message from Jude. "Linda, wait."I stopped, took a deep breath, and turned around. "What else?"Drake pointed t

Linda POVI stopped walking and turned to look at Drake. I looked at him seriously. "I know you're just making up excuses. Your mother doesn't look tired. So what's the real reason you ended our conversation when I didn't get a clear picture of her condition?"I didn't expect Drake to pull me into a room that I later found out was a library. He closed the door and blocked it with his body. "I want to tell you and remind you, if possible, not to talk like that in public. My mother might hear it. And that would be a disaster."I folded my arms. "Now we're here. So just answer my question."Drake sighed. "Mom doesn't look tired, but she doesn't look calm. I'm just worried she might get mad and hurt us all.""She accepted me nicely. I don't think she would do that," I said."She's uncomfortable with your questions.""Which ones?""I don't know. But it seems like there's one sentence or question that makes her react uncomfortably."If that's Drake's answer, then don't expect me to believe

  • Sparks Fly With My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 13 An Unusual Reaction

Drake POV It was nothing new for my mother to call me by my brother's name instead of my own. I might have been angry and upset in the past, but now I accepted it. As long as she doesn't throw a tantrum, that's enough for now. As long as I don't add to her suffering, it doesn't matter if she doesn't recognise me. "Oh by the way, Jake, could you get my journal about my time with your father? It's under my pillow." I was quite surprised when she said that. If she kept the journal that close to her, it meant her emotions were unstable. Bloody hell, I only found out now. No one told me. If I had known, I wouldn't have asked Linda to come with me today. But what can I do, it's too late now. What started here must be finished as soon as possible. "Jake?" My brother's name was called again. Not by my mother, but this time by Linda. She smiled and gave me a look with her eyes. "Oh right, ma, I'll get it for you," I replied finally. "Thank you, my dear. I can always count

  • Sparks Fly With My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 12 Permission to Speak

Linda POV"Meet Linda, she's my mom, Riley," Drake whispered.I blinked a few times to make sure I was seeing right. Riley, I'd never heard that name before. But her face looked familiar. It was like I'd met her before. But where?"Hey, what's wrong? Have you started the treatment?" Drake patted my shoulder. I removed his hand from there. "I haven't done anything yet. I'm just observing her to analyze her condition.""Oh, okay. Let me know when you start."I just nodded as I watched her approach me. Her gaze was probing. Perhaps, like me, who was also a little surprised, she just wanted to find out who I was. She stopped when she reached me. She looked me up and down and looked back at me with a curious expression. Actually, being stared at like this made me want to talk. But I remembered Drake's words that I shouldn't talk to his mother without his instructions. Besides, I also didn't want to suddenly make her emotions unstable. Physically, she was fine, but mentally, she was
