Chapter 2: Jordan

“I can’t believe I have to transfer school in the middle of the school year. All because of this damn peace treaty. I hate being the son of an Alpha.” I said to Rider. My wolf.

“Well at least you can start over and no one will know who you are and you can be a normal teen for once.” Rider said pacing in my mind.

“I guess you’re right about that.” I said grabbing my bag and keys.

“J.J you want one of the guards to drive you?” My dad linked me from his study.

“No. I can drive myself.” I linked back as I walked into the kitchen.

“Good morning J.J. Excited about the new school.” Lory the head chef asked as she place a bowl of fruit in front of me.

“Not really. Wish I could just be home schooled like your pups.” I said taking the bowl from the counter.

“If only I could get them to behave they would be like the rest out and about.” She laughed patting my back.

“Please stay out of trouble at this new school.” My father said as he entered the kitchen.

“Good morning Alpha breakfast is in the dinning area.” Lory said placing a cup of coffee on the counter in front of him.

“When have I ever got into trouble.” I said sarcastically smiling to Lory.

“Every time you walk out of this house.” My mother chimed in as she walked into the kitchen smiling.

Good morning Luna, your tea is almost ready.” Lory said smiling to my mom.

“Come on now ma I don’t cause trouble.” I said eating a grape out of the bowl.

“Yea it just finds you.” My father said kissing my mother’s cheek.

“Ok now get going don’t wanna be late for your first day.” My mom said kissing my cheek.

“Ok don’t have them pups while I’m gone.” I joked rubbing her pregnant belly.

“I’ll hold out just for you.” She joked hitting my arm. “Now get.”

“Let’s get this over with.” I said to Rider as I started my car.

As I pull up to the school the scent of lemon drop square cakes takes my breath away.

“Mate.” Rider roars as he begins to howl.

“Calm down it could just be the cafeteria or something.” I said trying to calm the urge to follow the scent.

“No it’s our mate. Find her now.” Rider howled as I walked into the building.

“Stay out of trouble I love you.” My mother linked me as I approached the office door.

“Hello can I help you?” An older lady sitting at the front desk asked.

“Yes I’m Jordan..” I started.

“Oh welcome Mr. Johnson.” A woman said walking out of the door adjacent the desk. “I’m superintendent Miles, I have your schedule and gym uniform right here on my desk.” She said with a nervous smile.

“Halfbreed.” Rider spat.

“Stop it.” I chuckled

“If you need any assistance or changes made to your schedule please feel free to let me know.” She said handing me a stack of papers and a uniform. “I’ll walk you to your first class.”

“Thank you.” I said giving her a smile.

“Here we are Advanced Economics.” She said opening the door.

“Ms. Kingsley, this is a new student, Jordan Johnson.” She said introducing me to the teacher. This is Ms. Kingsley’s class Jordan.” Superintendent Miles said as she stepped aside letting me see the class.

“Mate.” Rider howled, causing me to look into the direction of a beautiful caramel skinned girl with curly hair.

“Hello, Jordan. Welcome to Advanced Economics .” Ms. Kingsley greeted.

“Welcome, Jordan. We are just about to start a class project. You can join.” She said, looking around the class. “Ahh Mr. Middleton and Ms. Haywood. You can pair up with them.” Ms. Kingsley said as she pointed to their corner.

“Mate.” Rider howled as I sat between them. “Her scent is breath taking.” Rider purred.

“Oh shit, your nose is bleeding, Liyah.” The boys yelled holding her head back.

“What’s wrong with her?” Rider growled. “Protect her. Do something now.” He howled.

“Fuck what happened. Where is he taking her.” I asked rider as he paced my mind.

“To the nurse go get her.” He demanded.

“Excuse me may I go to the restroom, I think there blood on my shoes.” I said as I approached the desk.

“Oh my god yes go please get cleaned up.” Ms. Kingsley said stepping back as if the imaginary blood would jump off my shoes onto her.

“That way.” Rider said placing the direction of her scent.

“Are you ok.” I asked lower than I intended causing them both to jump.

“Yes.” She said as she turned to face me.

“Sorry didn’t mean to scare you.” I said looking into her eyes. “So beautiful deep dark pools.” Rider whispered as he bowed.

“You didnt scare us.” She said softly looking away from me.

“You’re scaring our mate.” Rider hissed.

“I got a little lost trying to find the bathroom.” I lied, not able to break my gaze.

“Umm, it’s right there. Her friend said, pointing to the left of us.

“Oh, okay, thanks.” I said, finally breaking the trance between us. “See you in class,” I said, walking away.

“Are you afraid of our mate.” Rider teased as I tossed water on my face.

“Shut up.” I hissed. “Does she not know I’m her mate? Is she human.” I asked rider as he laid down to think.

“No her wolf is there she just hasn’t awaken yet.”

“But her scent is different I’ve never smelled anything like it.” I said looking at myself in the mirror.

“Yes she smells sweet like Alpha blood.” Rider said as my mother linked me.

“What’s wrong.” She said sounding worried.

“I think I found my mate.” I said sounding confused.

“Do you need to come home can you control yourself.” She asked now panicked.

“No I have to stay near her.” Rider took over and said.

“J.J you have to control your wolf I know it’s harder for Alphas but you have to cage Rider around her.” She said causing Rider to roar in defiance.

“He’s under control.”

“If you need to leave link me and I’ll call the school and tell them you need to leave.”

“I’ll be fine.” I said throwing the cold water on my face again.

“Will you stay calm around her?” I asked rider as I dried my face.

“Yes.” He said pacing.

“Mr. Johnson, did you find the bathroom okay?” Ms. Kingsley asked as she opened the door.

“Yeah, I found it okay.” I responded, taking my seat between Riley and my mate.

“Okay, everyone, let’s get to work. You guys have until Friday to solve the problem that’s been given to you. You have to come up with real-life solutions that will solve the issues at hand.” She said, placing a paper on the desk. “You can take the rest of the class period to discuss what you need.” She said with a smile.

“Okay, so about this party.” Riley whispered. “Are you really going to attend?”

“Kinda don’t have a choice. My dad would kill me if I don’t.” She replied softly, looking at the paper placed in front of us.

“So what’s our problem?” I asked, reaching for the paper causing her to look up at me. “Where do we start?” I said with a smile.

“I guess we research what’s needed in third world countries other than the obvious and pick one and solve the problem at hand.” She said as she slowly looked up at me.

“So when do we start this research?” I said, staring at her through riders eyes.

“Stop that you going to scare her.” I snap him back from the surface.

“Well, we can exchange numbers and work something out.” Riley said, looking between the two of us.

“OK, class, that’s it for today. Please don’t wait until the last minute to start the project; you will be graded on your presentation.” Ms. Kingsley said as the bell rang.

“You think you can show me where my locker is and my next class?” I asked wanting to spend every second with her.

“Sure, she can; she has a free period anyway.” Riley answered, pushing her towards me.

“Great.” I said a little too eagerly.

“Ok see you fourth period.” Riley said smiling as he walked out of the class.

“So what’s your name?” I asked as she reached for the schedule in my hand.

“Aaliyah.” She answered softly.

“You have study hall with me next.” She said looking away from me.

“Yes, stay close to her I want to smell her scent.” Rider said as he finally stopped pacing.

“Do you want me to show you your locker first?” She asked looking up at me.

“Yes that’s cool.”

“Ok right this way.” She said leading me out of the class.

“Look at the little orphan playing chauffeur.” A voice came from down the hall.

“Just keep walking.” She said holding her head down.

“Little orphan Annie, who’s your friend.” A pale figure said grabbing her arm.

“Do something.” Rider growled.

“Don’t touch her.” Rider broke free grabbing his arm.

“It’s ok he’s just the Jackass my step sister is sleeping with.” Aaliyah said grabbing my arm, causing my skin to tingle from her touch.

“Mate.” Rider said as he resurfaced giving me back control.

“Gotta hell of a grip.” The boy said snatching away from me. “Do you know who I am.” He asked looking at the crowd that’s beginning to surround us.

“Let’s just go don’t get into trouble for me.” Aaliyah whispered.

“Yes listen to little orphan Annie.” He said waving me off.

“Dick.” I mumbled. “Are you ok?” I asked as we walked away.

“You get use to it.” She said hunching her shoulders. “But thank you, no one here would have ever stood up for me.”

“Who is that dip shit.” I asked causing her to smile.

“That’s Kyle he’s the son of Beta Mark, also he the jack ass my step sister is with for the time being.” She said pushing her glasses up over her nose.

“Betas son.” I laughed causing her to look at me funny.

“She doesn’t know you’re an Alpha born.” Rider reminded me.

“Those jerks always think there something special.” I said looking away.

“Here’s your locker.” She said pointing.

“You want to put your things away? We still have seven minutes before study hall starts.” She said leaning against the wall.

“Don’t have anything other than this.” I said holding up the uniform and papers.

“Well now you know where it is.” She said as she began to walk off.

“So tell me about this party.” I asked breaking the silence.

“My 18th birthday is in four days, my father and his wife are throwing a party that isn’t really for me.” She responded sadly.

“That’s it here wolf hasn’t awaken yet. Stay close to her so after her birthday she will know she’s your mate.” Rider growled.

“Well am I invited?” I asked hoping she would say yes.

“I don’t really care it’s not like it’s really for me.” She said looking away to hide the hurt.

“Well I’ll be your first guest.” I said looking for a smile.

“Don’t let Riley hear you say that.” She said looking up at me smiling.

“Our little secret.” I responded.

“How can anyone treat her the way they do they not see how beautiful she is.” I say to rider as we approach a door at the end of the hall.
