I poured out my heart to him, telling him everything and not leaving a single part out of it. "Please, Don Xander, I will be grateful if you could grant me just this one wish" I begged desperately, my voice cracking at the end, even though I tried so hard to stay strong. He tilted his head to one side and smirked. "I can do that for you" he said, and my eyes beam with happiness immediately. "But..." He trailed off, swirling his drink in his hand. "What do I get in return for helping you? After all, it's all about give and take" My jaw dropped instantly. His playboy attitude playing in my head. "I... I can't... I mean, I'm sorry Don Xander but I'm not the type of girl who sleeps around with men. If it's okay with you, I can work for you instead" I suggested. He wave his index finger, shaking his head. "No, Bella" he said in a low, husky voice. Then, he rose from his seat and walked towards to me, his movement graceful and deliberate. I shivered, still seated as he crouched beside me. He leaned closer to my face and I tilted my head to look at him in the eyes. "If I will help you..." he whispered, his warm breath sending shivers down my spine. "You must give me something in return" "What do you want?" I asked in a low voice. His eyes gleamed with intensity. "I want you, Isabella" he whispered, his lips grazing my ear. I jerked back, shocked by his request. "Don Xander!" I exclaimed, my voice trembling.

ISABELLA HERNANDEZ

I sat in the emergency room, my palms wet with sweat. My forehead ached a little, reminding me of the pain. I closed my eyes, replaying the incident in my head.

I was driving down the wet road, in a hurry to get to Lucas's office. He had asked me to deliver some important documents to his office, and I wanted it done as soon as possible.

As I approached the intersection, I saw the traffic lights turn green. I sped up, thinking I could make it through before the light turned red.

But then, out of nowhere, a car ran from the red light angle. I slammed on the brakes, and my car skidded on the wet road.

The shrieking brake, the car skidding on the wet road, and then the accident. I just can't get the moment off my head. My husband had stressed how important those files were to him. But now, I have lost them.

I rub my forehead, trying to massage away the tension whilst I pull out my phone to call my husband. I dialed his number but got no answer. I kept dialing repeatedly, but he wasn't answering it.

"Why isn't he picking up?" I muttered under my breath, frustration slowly creeping within me.

I tried calling him again, but it went straight to voicemail.

Just then, a nurse approached me with a warm smile on her face. "Here, have these cotton balls. It's just a scrape, just make sure to keep it clean."

I nodded, taking the cotton balls from her. "Thank you" I softly muttered.

"You're welcome. Just use it for now. We will get you fixed up soon."

I nodded again, and as she turned to leave, she stopped hesitantly. "Were you probably looking for this?" She asked, handing me the files I thought I had lost.

My eyes widened as I took the files from her with shaky hands. Relief instantly washed over me. "The documents!" I exclaimed, my face beaming with excitement.

"Yes, someone found it near the accident scene. And I believe it's yours" She explained.

"Yes, thank you so much."

I clutched the documents tightly, feeling a sense of relief as I tried dialing his number again, but still, no answer.

Since he was not answering his calls, I decided to go and deliver the documents myself. He must be busy with work, and that's why he couldn't answer my call- I mentally said to myself, trying to find an excuse for him.

My name is Isabella, and I've been married to Lucas, a well-respected young millionaire in society, for seven years now.

This is what I've always dreamed of—to marry a young, handsome millionaire guy.

Lucas Brooks is the ideal type of good-looking man. He's tall, handsome, wealthy and kindhearted. I believed he was the perfect man, the type of man any woman would fall deeply in love with—which I did.

I was only seven years old when my beloved mother tragically passed away in a car accident. After my mom's passing, and my dad married Claire, my life was turned upside down. Claire made me feel like an outcast in my own house. Despite being my father's child, I was treated like a stranger. At the age of 18, I had no choice but to leave the house and rent an apartment of my own. My dad had never stood up for me, always siding with his wife. Whatever Claire does or says is always okay with him.

At 22, I met Lucas at a charity gala event, and we both got drawn to each other instantly. A few months later, he proposed to me, and I said yes without hesitation.

But what did I get in return for being a faithful and loving wife? - A DIVORCE!

Our seven years of marriage were blissful, filled with love and affection—or so I thought.

I hurried out of the emergency room, limping on my sore knee even though it hurt so badly. I didn't even care about the pain, I just wanted to deliver these documents to him so he could do what he needed to do with them.

But, as I passed through a patient's room, a familiar figure instantly caught my eye. I slow down my steps automatically, my heart skipping a beat. I glanced back into the room, scrunching my eyebrows in confusion.

Isn't that..... My husband?

He sat beside the hospital bed, leaning close to... wait, S... So... Sophia?!!!

His childhood friend?

A mix of emotions instantly washed over me, and I couldn't help but let out a bitter chuckle.

So, Sophia is back in town?- I thought, shocked and confused.

I fixed my gaze on her before they landed back on Lucas. His gentle gaze was so... different.

A pang of pain twisted in my chest as I continued to stare at them.

"You will be discharged today. I have come to take you home," I heard him say to her.

I don't know why, but I just have a terrible feeling about this. My legs trembled beneath me alongside my fingers as I dialed his number again. The phone rang a few times before I saw him straighten up slightly through the half-open door, pulling out his phone from his pocket.

This time, he finally answered.

"Where are you?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady, even though it ended up coming out hoarse and shaky.

"In a meeting" his tone was cold and detached.

"I see..." I forced out a response, trying to restrain the trembling and doubt in my tone.

"Yes" his voice remained cold and even, impatient. "Anything else?" he asked. "No... nothing" I hung up, choking back my tears as I walked out of the hospital.

I exited through the giant gate, my vision getting blurred from the tears welling up in my eyes. The rain poured down on my head, mirroring my mood. I limped along, my knees protesting with every step.

Suddenly, a car zoomed past me, splashing me thoroughly with water. I stopped and stared blankly at the fading license plate, and it turned out to be my husband's car.

Wow!

How absurd.

I was out here in the rain, trying to deliver his precious documents, and I ended up getting battered and bruised. Yet, here he is, driving another woman around recklessly, not caring that he had splashed me.

Slowly, the tears in my eyes finally rolled down my cheeks, mingling with the rain. I feel like a fool right now.

As I walk down the road, the pain in my knee and forehead keeps getting stronger, but it is nothing compared to the pain in my heart.

I can't seem to shake off the image of Lucas's gentle gaze on her. Why couldn't he just look at me like that too?- I thought angrily, folding my hands into a fist.

I finally stopped in front of a coffee shop, taking shelter from the rain. As I walked in, the aroma of the freshly brewed coffee filled my nostrils, providing a temporary comfort.

I ordered a cup and sat by the window, watching the rain pour down heavily. My mind wandered back to Lucas and Sophia, wondering how long they'd been seeing each other behind my back. This doesn't look like it's their first time.

Could she be the reason why he suddenly turned cold towards me?

Did I really mean nothing to him?- I thought worriedly, taking a sip of my coffee, the bitterness mirroring my emotions.
