Someone was tracing circles on the inside of my palm. Someone who smelled... intoxicating. My head was pounding slightly, and I winced a bit as I peeled my eyes open and light filtered in. The light touch on my hand stopped, and a second later, the room was plunged into darkness as Cassian closed the blinds. "How are you feeling?" He asked, coming back to the bed to sit beside me. "I'm fine," I said, but my voice croaked. "You don't sound fine," he muttered, reaching towards the nightstand. He grabbed a glass of water I hadn't noticed before, helped me into a sitting position, and held the glass to my lips. When I tried to take the glass from him, he didn't let go. I raised my eyebrows slightly, but drank obediently, trying not to rush it too much just because I wanted to sniff him. What gave one man the right to smell this good? "Where's Saoirse?" I caught my mate before she could hit the ground, and swept her into my arms, holding her tightly. The cut the witch had given her was healing, but still looked stark red against the white of her palm. I clutched her protectively, glaring at Saoirse. Rationally, I knew she hadn't meant any harm. The initial cut Iris herself had made was closing up, so Saoirse used her magic to make another bigger cut. It was like the slash of a knife, and seeing an injury like that on Iris made me feel like I was going insane. It didn't help that Saoirse hadn't even given fair warning before doing that. My instincts took over, and in a second, I'd flung Saoirse against the far wall hard enough that she bled. Good. Next time, she'd think twice about hurting Iris. "Are you okay?" As we walked into the pack hospital, I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened just now, with Cassian. We were arguing, and the next thing I knew, I was thinking about how absolutely delectable he looked? While he was being an asshole?! No way. Nuh uh.
