The full moon began to sink, but instead of feeling relieved, I became even more uneasy. My wolf was restless, driving me insane, and then I started to perceive a wonderful scent. I desperately wanted to find where it was coming from, but before I could move, I saw Devon approaching me with wide eyes. The closer he came, the stronger the scent became.

He stopped in front of me.

“Mate.”

One word caused complete chaos.

I was shocked and couldn't think properly. The old witch wasn't a phony. The spell had actually worked. My heart pounded as everything around me suddenly felt distant, like I was underwater and couldn't breathe.

Then I heard a scream.

I looked toward Emily and saw the anger burning in her eyes. Everyone was talking and staring at me until the Seeker shouted, “Silence!”

The hall immediately went quiet.

He called me toward him, and I followed him into a private hall with my father, Donna, the King, Queen, Devon, and Emily.

Donna was the first to speak. “Devon, why did you call Anna your mate?”

“I don't know,” Devon answered. “My wolf took control of me, and I couldn't stop him.”

The Seeker studied him. “Do you feel any connection between your wolf and Emily's?”

“No.”

Emily began sobbing louder.

The Seeker turned to her. “Emily, do you feel a connection between your wolf and Devon's?”

She shook her head. “No.”

He looked back at Devon. “Do you feel a connection with Anna's wolf?”

Devon looked at me. “Yes. I smelled something that pulled me toward her. My wolf feels a connection with her, and I'm certain about it.”

The Seeker turned to me. “Anna, do you feel the same?”

I hesitated before answering. “Yes. I perceived a beautiful scent from Devon, and my wolf feels a connection toward him.”

Emily suddenly exploded.

“You did this!”

She pointed at me angrily. “You've always been jealous of me! You couldn't stand that Devon was going to be mine. You're a mate stealer!”

“Emily, calm down,” the Seeker warned.

“She must have done something!” Emily shouted.

The Seeker looked at me. “Anna, did you do anything that could have changed the mate bond?”

My heart stopped. If I told the truth, I would be in serious trouble. I remembered the witch's warning that the spell could never be undone.

I shook my head.

“No.”

The King looked at the Seeker. “How is this possible? It was revealed that Emily was Devon's mate from a young age.”

“I don't know,” the Seeker admitted. “The Wolf God can be tricky. I will try to find out what happened.”

I felt relieved that he didn't suspect me.

The Queen then asked, “What happens now?”

The Seeker's expression became serious. “No matter what has happened, Devon must complete the mating bond with his mate.”

“No!” Emily screamed. “I will never allow that!”

Devon stepped forward. “I won't complete the mating bond with Anna, no matter how my wolf feels.”

The Seeker's expression hardened. “You have no choice. You have to do it for the good of the kingdom.”

Emily stormed out, and Devon immediately ran after her. The Seeker said he would contact us when he had more information before leaving with the King and Queen.

That left my father, Donna, and me.

I was still trying to process everything. I felt guilty because my decision to visit the witch had been impulsive. I hadn't thought about the consequences. All I wanted was revenge against Emily, but I had never imagined it would go this far.

My father pulled me into a hug. “Don't feel bad, Anna. This isn't your fault. Everything will be sorted out.”

I wanted to tell him the truth. I wanted to tell him that it was my fault and that nothing would be fine because the witch had warned me the spell could never be undone.

But I couldn't.

Donna gave me a nasty glare. “I'm going to find Emily.”

Then she left, followed by my father.

I stayed behind for a few minutes before returning to the main hall. The celebration had already been disbanded, and people were leaving. The few who remained kept giving me suspicious looks as they whispered among themselves.

I ignored them and went to the parking lot, where one of our drivers was waiting. He drove me home, and when I entered the house, I immediately heard Emily screaming.

She was in the living room with Devon, Donna, and my father. Devon was trying to console her, but she wasn't having it. She screamed at him, then at Donna and my father, until she saw me.

Her face changed.

She ran toward me and tried to attack me, but Devon grabbed her before she could reach me.

“Let me go!” she screamed.

I didn't wait. I ran upstairs to my room and shut the door.

But my wolf was still restless after seeing Devon. A part of me wanted to run back downstairs, throw myself into his arms, and stay there forever. I fought the feeling and reminded myself that I had already made one terrible decision.

I took a shower and saw a missed call from Chloe afterward, but I refused to answer. I wasn't ready to tell anyone what I had done.

I climbed into bed and closed my eyes, hoping that when I woke up, I would realize that everything had been a dream.

But deep down, I knew it wasn't.

Nothing would ever be the same again.

  • Stealing my sister's Alpha    CHAPTER FIVE: The Royal Celebration

ANNA I woke up early to the sound of voices downstairs. For a few seconds, I lay in bed, wondering what everyone was talking about so early in the morning. Then I remembered. Today was the royal celebration. I groaned and pulled my blanket over my head. It was only seven in the morning, and yesterday's trip to Silvercrest had left me exhausted. Unfortunately, there was no way I was going back to sleep. After brushing my teeth, I headed downstairs and immediately noticed the servants decorating the house. I didn't understand the point the celebration was taking place at the palace, not here but I wasn't about to ask. My mind briefly went back to my original plan of ruining Emily's engagement dress. I peeked into her room, but it was filled with servants, Donna, and Chrystal, all fussing over her. There was no way I could get near that dress without being caught. So I gave up on the idea and decided to go for a run instead. Something felt strange. My wolf had been restle

The next morning, I got dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast. I was surprised to find only my dad at the table. I joined him, and he immediately looked up. "How are you feeling after yesterday?" "I'm fine," I replied, even though I knew he could tell I wasn't completely fine. He nodded. "What are you doing today?" "I'm going to hang out at Chloe's house." He finished his breakfast, stood up, and kissed me on the cheek. "I'll see you later. I have to get to work." "Okay. Bye, Dad." I grabbed my keys and drove to Chloe's house. When I got there, I found her lying across her bed with a book in her hands. I walked over to her, and she suddenly looked up, startled. I burst out laughing. "You should have seen your face." She shoved me playfully, making me fall onto the bed. "You're so annoying." "How's school going?" She immediately started complaining about her professor, and I couldn't help laughing. "Chloe, you're probably the one who's wrong. You argue w

  • Stealing my sister's Alpha    CHAPTER THREE: DEVON

I woke up and glanced at the clock. 5:00 a.m. I got out of bed, brushed my teeth, changed into my running clothes, and headed outside. The morning air was cold against my skin as I made my way into the woods. I ran in my human form for about forty-five minutes before finally shifting. My wolf took over instantly, and I loved the feeling. There was something different about running in my wolf form. Everything felt more natural. My senses sharpened, the wind rushed through my fur, and for a while, there was nothing else to think about. After another thirty minutes, I shifted back and headed home. I showered, changed, and went downstairs for breakfast. My family was already seated in the dining hall. My father, the king, sat at the head of the table with my mother beside him. My brother Jamie and my cousin Danny were sitting together, while my younger sister Ella was seated beside me. "Good morning," I greeted them. "Good morning, darling," my mother replied. She looked at me. "Wha

  • Stealing my sister's Alpha    CHAPTER TWO: BEHIND HER SMILE

One may simply think I don't like Emily because everyone will always choose her over me, but that's not all there is to it. I've seen the way she behaves toward people she thinks are beneath her. I'm not saying I'm the nicest person in the world. People sometimes call me mean, but I don't look down on people based on their social status. I find that sickening. I'm a year older than Emily, so I'm, in a sense, supposed to be responsible for her. Anything that goes wrong on Emily's part, I'm the one who gets blamed for it. I remember when we were younger and were just learning how to run in our wolf forms. Emily ran toward the woods and broke her leg. I was blamed relentlessly, even though I'd told her not to run that way. Then there's the way she always finds a way to remind me how perfect she is compared to me and how I don't belong in their life. But I can't really blame her because, to an extent, she's right. I don't belong in their life. I was an obstacle in their perfect little

  • Stealing my sister's Alpha    CHAPTER ONE: THE PERFECT DAUGHTER

The bell rang, and I dropped my gloves. For a few seconds, I stayed where I was, breathing heavily as sweat trickled down the side of my face. "Time." I pulled the mouth guard from between my teeth and looked across the training room. My opponent was leaning against the ropes, breathing just as hard as I was. "You're getting faster," he said. I smiled. "I know." He rolled his eyes. "Do you ever get tired of being so annoying?" "Not really." I walked toward the corner and grabbed my towel, wiping the sweat from my face. My arms were sore, my legs were burning, and I could already feel the bruises forming beneath my skin. It was worth it. Training was the one part of my day I actually enjoyed. Nobody compared me to Emily here. Nobody cared that she was beautiful, well-mannered, or destined to become the future queen. Here, all that mattered was whether I could keep my feet beneath me and hit harder than the person standing across from me, and I could. I checked the time
