CAMILLA

I giggled as I jumped over a large rock blocking my path, and made my way past the pack border and towards freedom.

'Faster, Dana! Faster!' I urged my wolf to which she responded to quite positively. She picked up her speed and ran faster and further into the forest, away from everything and everyone. Away from reality.

'That's right, don't look back,' I tell her, desperately trying to hold tears back. They are useless now. From now on, I will never have to cry and suffer ever again, I will be free.

Just when I finished that thought, Dana suddenly came to a full stop.

'What's wrong?' I asked my wolf but she didn't answer.

Instead, her ears perked up and I can feel her raise her guard, positioning her body on defense. She whips her head side to side and back and forth for everytime the forest creates a different sound.

What is going on? Why is my wolf suddenly freaking out?

It did not take long before the answer finally revealed itself in the form of two dangerous-looking pair of red eyes, peering from under the shadows. It was the most unusual color I had ever seen, yet, instead of fear, my wolf rather felt an attraction to them.

She was practically drawn to those eyes. Those eyes that screamed "run" all over them did not really get though my wolf's thick skull.

The next moment, a huge black creature slowly stepped out of the shadow. I almost popped my eyes out of their sockets when I see a lycan instead of a wolf.

The way it was looking and growling at me made me think it wanted to eat me alive. But I'm confident that's against nature's laws. After all, a wolf or lycan cannot devour another just because he probably only might be hungry or had gone nuts, right?

"Mine," a low, raspy voice rumbled through the forest, silencing all other creatures that lived there.

But then I pinched my brows, confused as per his words.

Taking one look at the unbelievably huge creature, I knew I needed a way out.

I find myself taking careful steps back while the black wolf stalked towards me.

I kept moving backwards when my back hit a tree. Great, now what?

Before I had the opportunity to lift my chin and glare at him eye to eye, I felt his huge body press against me. I could feel his muscles tense as if I had aroused him.

I bit my lip and tried to scooch away while he snarled sharply in protest. Instinctively, I clenched my eyes, finally letting the tears to trail down my cheek as my body trembled uncontrollably.

His domineering aura seeps into my skin, enough to make even an alpha kneel at his feet. As the daughter of an alpha, I can barely stand on my feet and I am frozen in place.

My heart raced at dangerous speed when I felt his hand brushing softly against my cheek. My wolf purred in response and clearly had no plans of running away at all.

Please, please, please, please.

Someone, anyone....

Help.

"Cami! Cami!"

My eyes fluttered open at the sound of Angela's voice. I jerked upright, sitting up on the bed as I sucked in air and panted like I have just had a long run.

Well, at least I thought I had.

I looked around and saw the same omegas who my father ordered to tend to me before I lost consciousness. Angela stood beside me, her eyes gleaming with concern.

Realizing what just happened, I relaxed a little and adjusted my position on the bed.

It was just a stupid dream.

"Cami, what's wrong?" Angela asked, reaching out to touch my hand.

My gaze dropped to her hand and I felt my lips curl up into a small smile. She had always been kind to me, like an angel. She's the reason why I had not left the back even after turning eighteen. Although my father never raised a hand on her, I was worried that once I leave, it was only a matter of time before the alpha snapped and turned all his anger to Angela.

Apart from Dash, Angela is the only person I really care about.

Smiling, I shake my head. "It's nothing. Just a bad dream,"

Yes, a nightmare. One I am sure will stay with me for weeks, maybe even months.

Still, I could feel those dark red eyes all over me, taunting me. I just couldn't get it off my mind.

"Get out,"

My eyes darted to Angela whose voice changed to a sharp tone, startling me.

But her gaze was directed to the omegas in the room, and for that I felt relieved.

I admit I had never heard her raise her voice to anyone before, so I wonder if she's okay?

As soon as the omegas left, Cami jumped on my bed and shrieked in excitement as she grabbed my hand to celebrate with her.

"Whoa what's going on Anj?" I laughed seeing her so happy wobbling my bandaged arms I whimpered.

"Oh shit, sorry," she blurted, immediately letting go of my hand.

I giggled, pretending my bruises are not killing me right about now.

"So what's up?" I asked.

Angela's face lit up, "Remember that thing I've been going on and on to you about?" She grinned mischievously.

I groaned and looked at her like she had grown two heads.

"Anj, you know I can't," I said, not wanting to keep her hopes up.

Angela had been wanting to take me to that bar that just opened up recently in the city, saying it was owned by the eldest son of the Lycan King. Therefore, it is a must that we shall march in there solely for the chances of meeting the lycan prince.

"Pretty pleaaaaasseeee?" Angela shoots me her best puppy eyes, and I rolled my eyes, still not convinced.

A minute passed and she is still not giving up.

"Think about it. Your mate just betrayed you by sleeping with another she-wolf. So, don't you think it is only fair if you..." her voice trailed off as I grabbed the pillow and stuffed my ears with it.

Angela pins me with a glare, yanking the pillow away from my hands making me groan.

"Cami, you need this. Think of that asshole Dash. Do you really want to give him the satisfaction by holing yourself up in this room and just be plain miserable? You're better than that. You deserve better, Cami." Angela's words pierced through my heart and soul, or was it because she mentioned Dash? Even after what he did, I admit I cannot bring myself to hate him. After all, he is my mate. My destined. My other half. And yet, he had no problem sleeping with another age-wolf knowing I am here, his mate. And I was ready to give my virginity up to him. Now I am just glad I held onto it for so long.

My heart throbbed in pain as pictures of Dash and that woman came rushing back to me all at once. I curled myself into a ball as I fell back on the bed and sobbed.

I felt Angela caress my shoulders, huddling closer to embrace me from behind.

"How could he do this to me, Anj?" I sobbed harder. Angela chose to hold me tighter and say nothing, and after a few minutes, I got up, wiping away my tears.

Turning to her, I sighed.

"Father--I mean, the Alpha, will kill me if I even ask him to let me come," I said, my voice coming out hoarse as it is laced with fear.

Raising her brow, she grinned mischievously, "Who ever said anything about telling him?"

I stared at her in a mixture of shock and awe.

I know that look. It's that look that says she already got everything figured out and she has a plan.

I shook my head.

"You know what? I think one of these days you are going to get me killed," I said jokingly, and she giggled but did not say anything back.
