***Allessandra***
A year and a half passed and New York helped me a lot to move on. I've been working in Matthew's real estate company because Bella suggested that I should. She explained that it would be a great diversion so that I wouldn't focus on my heartache. Before I accepted her offer, I insisted that I wanted to start from the lower position to understand the business more than to jump into a higher job position. I wanted to learn and have knowledge about business in general. She gave me the position of administrative support with a quite good salary from the company and I felt like she's biased because the salary is too much compared to others.
"So how are you?" Bella asked. We were sitting on the couch watching some romance movie. "I mean have you gotten over Chadrick?" she looked me intently in the eyes. “I guess?” I replied reluctantly. “I know you need more time so take it slow," she patted my back. "Eventually you won’t get affected anymore”
Few months passed and everything was just fine. "You ready?" Bella asked while putting on her lipstick. "Yes," I replied because I know she didn't want to get late for work. In a week, I’ll be home for Dad’s birthday and I felt nervous. But before anything else, I needed to sort all my pending documents so that I wouldn't get issues with them when I get back. She suggested we should drop by Gregg’s office before we proceed with our regular work assignments. He is her cousin who helped and trained me when I was just starting my job. She wanted to check on him after he and her fiancé broke up a week ago. The reason was terrible because “Holy mother of crap!” the woman ran away with someone else. We entered the lift and pushed the 17th button. As we reached his floor, we waved and said hi to the receptionist who was full smiles as she saw us approaching. We went towards his office and from the outside, his secretary welcomed us. She knocked at the door and we hear
Seated on an airport bench, I informed Andrew that our arrival is at two in the afternoon. He's going to fetch us and we'll check-in at a hotel nearby dad's birthday venue. Party is about to start at 7 so certainly, I can rest a bit before dolling up. On our flight, Gregg and I talked about life and circumstances. He said that you should teach yourself to become a warrior than a princess because life is definitely a battlefield. If you're struggling in the reality of life, his thoughts could help a lot to uplift your day. I told him that his words and encouragements are like rainbows after every storm. Our plane landed at Chicago International Airport on time. As soon as I checked my phone, Andrew's message flashed on my screen. He informed us that he's outside waiting for us to come out and it excites me. The moment we went out of the airport, I instantly acknowledged Andrew on the left side of the waiting area. He was happily waving at us with full smiles a
I stopped when I was in front of him. We kept on staring at each other like it was just the two of us in the place and everything's in slow motion. I felt like my chest pumped in an abnormal rhythm. Though the music was on at the function, it was like I couldn't hear anything. A lot of memories flashed back to me and it was hard to breathe. “Did I really try to forget my feelings for him?" I asked myself. My mind was in chaos because as I looked him in the eye, I could tell it's different. My legs were shaky but I kept my composure as possible as I could. “Hi,” he spoke but didn't remove his gaze from mine. I could tell that he was quite nervous. “Hi” I replied. I smiled a bit cheerful to masks my fast-beating heart. I felt like my chest will explode like a bomb in front of him. There's a feeling inside me that I really would love to hug and kiss him. I felt like crying because I couldn’t do it freely anymore. Everything between us has changed and I didn't kn
The previous night's happenings made me tired. I felt tired not because of Dad’s party but because of my chaotic emotions. That night was a roller coaster because it made my heart pound so hard. I sighed and buried my face in the palms of my hand. I slouched on the couch in my room and contemplated. I heard someone knocks on my door and it was my mom calling for breakfast. Mom was serving me my favorite food and the happiness on her face was clearly visible. Dad cleared his throat “Princess would you like to work and handle some of our businesses?” he sounded so tender and the looked in his eyes was more on hoping for me to say yes. “Dad I’m coming back to New York in three days because I have a job there,” I replied and mom looked at me with a sad expression. “Have you and Chad talked already?”Mom asked carefully. I inhaled a deep breath “We saw each other last night and we said our Hi’s,” I spoke nonchalantly. “Oh, that’s all?” she responded like sh
I was sitting comfortably on the couch when mom and dad joined me for us to have some bonding moments. Mom kept on hugging me like she was accounting for all the months that I’m away. Dad threw a lot of questions about my life in New York and I answered all of them happily. He couldn't believe that I was able to leave them for so long. Dad persuaded me to stay but I decided to go back. I could say that I’m still affected when Chadrick is around. I was so busy talking to them when my phone quivered. Actually, it was the third time around. I reached for it and saw Bella’s name flashing on the screen. "Hey, bitch!" I sounded so lively. She was silent and in a few seconds, I heard her cry. She whispered my name and I felt alarmed that something horrible happened to her. “Bella, what’s wrong?” my heart pounded nervously. She was sniffing “Mom got into an accident” she revealed and did not stop her sobs. I shushed “I’m coming,” I blurted quickly before we dropped the call.
ALLESSANDRA In our apartment, I was busy preparing for our breakfast in the kitchen. Bella was prepping to go to the hospital as she wants to be with her mom most of the time. I heard our doorbell ring and she was quick to open it. It was Gregg with those beautiful flowers again for the two of us. I could definitely say that flowers really have an immediate impact on happiness. It could lighten our mood from being anxious, depressed, or sad. We felt delighted by his wonderful gestures. I offered him coffee and before I could give it to him, I accidentally splashed some on his shirt. “Damn it! I’m so sorry!” I apologized for my stupidity. I ran to the closet and offered him a bathrobe so that I could quickly wash and dry his shirt. When I got back, I sighted and heard them discussing something about business. A lot of workloads had been added to their shoulders to carry on because of the fearful incident. Bella bid her goodbye to us after she gob
The surprise on Chadrick's face was clearly visible when he sighted me in front of his hotel room. His eyes flickered a few times and even tried to check behind me if I have company. I cleared my throat “It’s just me," I muttered to break the silence. He nodded without breaking his stare at me. It felt like in any second, I would melt in front of him. Hastily, I informed him that I came because he said he wanted to talk to me. "Are you with your wife? If so, then we can talk somewhere else” I took the courage to ask the thing. His eyes widened like I mentioned something wrong. “We really need to talk so will you please come in?” he offered which I nodded right away. I stepped inside his suite and I could feel my legs were shaky as I walked. He pointed to a chair for me to sit down and I did instantly because I felt like I don't have the energy to stand any longer. He was standing and back facing me as he looked out of the window. It could be seen that he was
He cupped both my cheeks and begged me to go back to Chicago. Tears swelled on both sides of his eyes and the sincerity was clearly visible. Before I left, I felt like everything was my entire fault for what happened because of my childish behavior. But after he revealed everything to me, I concluded that leaving him was really my mistake and I felt awful about it. He was pleading for me to go back and I realized, he's really serious about us. After our talk, I told him to give me some more time before I can go back to Chicago. I reasoned that I needed to speak to Bella and I still have a job to send my resignation properly. I didn’t want to get VIP treatment in the company just because I’m friends with the heir. I wanted to be a good example to all the employees I know in my department. I thanked God that Chadrick understood my justifications about those things. We were heading to the door because I was bound to the hospital where Bella is. I wanted to visit a
