I stared at the glass window, the weather felt chilly and warm at the same time, my breath caught between my throat as I stared more, it felt like someone was watching me when I choked back on my saliva.

“What is wrong with you?.” I heard someone yell and I snapped out of my thoughts.

“Shit.” I breathed out, staring r the mess I made on the table, the coffee was all over the place and the customer didn’t look any happy. “I am sorry.” I whispered.

“You should pay more attention to what you are doing, you are certainly not getting any tips and your manager would hear about it tomorrow.” She gritted through her teeth and I stared at her apologetically.

I took an extra shift to make more money and it doesn’t seem like it’s working.

“It won’t happen again.” I whispered as I cleaned it, the moment I was done, I served her fresh cup of coffee. “This is on the house both the coffee and the cookies.”

“I don’t need your pity cookies.” She looked away and my eyes filled with remorse, I can’t let my boss find out about this.

This job is the only thing I have, and I need it for Ethan.

I watched as she took the coffee slowly, I should not have stared out of the glass, I kept staring at the ceiling, the fear in my heart slowly subsiding when she paid and she walked away angrily.

Being here all alone didn’t do any good to me, my heart sank each time I would hear the bell, my eyes filled with fear each time I was left alone in the room with a customer, I am scared they will hurt me, or come close to me, I am hurt they would even try and make me pay for what I have done.

My heart skipped into a dark place when my eyes peered up and I saw someone walking into the bakery.

“Anne’s bakery, how can I help you?.” I whispered.

“I would have coffee and he will have a glass of chocolate milk.” Rose smiled. “You don’t look good Bella.”

“I am fine, just tired, it’s being a long time.” I whispered with a fake smile on my face, she glanced at me for a moment before she settled down with her ten year old.

Rose comes here ever single day and sometimes twice a day, we got to know each other, she feels like a mother to me, warm and nice and her little boy Jude, he is mute.

“Are you sure you are fine Bella?.” She asked again, as I settled the things. “You need to close up if you are not fine, I will speak to Mathew to give you a break, you need it.”

“Thank you.” I whispered when I heard a noise coming from outside, I glanced at the window again, my eyes filled with tears as I looked away.

I muttered a few words to myself when I served her and I walked away, I am starting to look like a crazy person. I need to calm down.

They are never going to find me.

—-

Closing up has always been the best time of the day. I called by at around two in the morning, Rose took a while there and another customer came in after her, causing me to stay longer.

I didn’t need a cab to head home, it was just around the corner. My feet felt heavy against the floor as I headed further, the soft wind whistling through my hair and the darkness in my heart, causing a wave of heat to flow through my body.

My mind scared and tired as I walked when I stopped in my tracks.

I am being watched, I could feel it through my veins, I could feel the eyes of the person over me.

“Just a few more blocks Bella.” I murmured against my breath

Ever step I took, I was certain someone else took two more, I glanced further ahead, the lights are out, I have complained for weeks now and no one seemed to care about fixing it.

I clenched on to my bag when I felt a presence behind me and I stopped in my tracks.

He is not here, he can’t be here.

When my eyes peered up, a gasp falls out of my lips as I stared at a man standing in front of me, the reek of alcohol filled my nose as I looked away.

“What is a beautiful little thing like you doing alone? Don’t you have any idea that it’s not safe.” He smiled as he reached toward me and I pull away.

“Just let me go, my uncle is waiting for me at home, he will call the cops if I am not home.” I lied.

“He would just have to wait.” The man smiled, I could not run, there was no where for me to go to and I didn’t think it was a good idea of continue ahead, the darkness would just give him an advantage over me.

He took me aback when he grabs my hand and he pulled me toward him, my eyes filled with tears.

“Let go of me.”

“When I am done, you can go back home to that imaginary uncle of yours.” He smiled, he placed his hand against my back and my breath hitches.

Mustering every strength I had, I pushed him away from me and the fact that he is drunk gave me an advantage, I instantly reached for the broken bottle on the floor and I held it up against.

“Don’t come any close.” I yelled.

“Oh I am so scared you are going to hurt me.” He laughed as he inched close.

“I am serious.” I yelled. “Please.” I whispered in fear and yet he didn’t stop.

The moment I felt he was close enough, the world around me seemed to vanish, the streetlights, the wind, the sound of distant cars.

His fingers brushed my wrist.

I swung.

The jagged glass cut through the air and found him before I even realized what I had done. There was a sickening sound like tearing cloth, and then a warm rush spilled over my hand.

He stumbled back, his eyes wide with disbelief, hands pressed to his chest where crimson bloomed.

“Oh God.” I gasped, dropping the glass. My knees buckled but I didn’t fall. My hands trembled as I reached for him, but stopped halfway.

He tried to say something, his lips moving, but then his body collapsed onto the pavement with a dull thud, his face still twisted in drunken shock.

I stared down at the blood seeping between the cracks in the concrete. My breath came in shallow gasps. My fingers felt frozen.

“I didn’t mean.” My voice cracked. “I didn’t.”

A sound echoed from down the street, Panic shot through me. My eyes darted around the dark alley and, the body at my feet.

He shouldn’t have touched me.

I didn’t mean to kill him.

But now he was dead.

  • Stolen by the mafia king    Telling him the truth

I woke up wrapped around his arms. His eyes were on mine as he glanced at me. I didn’t speak, and neither did he. There was still something in my heart; I thought it would be gone the moment I woke up, yet it was here. It was the burn and the desire for him; it was the way I felt whenever I thought about him. “I will tell Ollie every thing about Sarah,” Liam whispered and my eyes widened in shock. “Liam you are not ready, I don’t want-“ before I could speak, he leaned in and he placed his lips on mine, it was warm and soft, it felt like heaven as he swept his tongue across my lips and he pulled away for a moment. “Yes he is a kid but he deserves to know some parts of the truth and right now, we are at war, I don’t need any enemy of mine, preying on my son and telling him things that only I am meant to know about it,” Liam whispered and I smiled at him, he was about to do something huge, something he probably never thought about doing. “- I will tell Ollie only if you speak

  • Stolen by the mafia king    His own way

“Bella- you can’t do it right.” I said staring at him, he softly placed his hand on mine, he knows he can’t, sometimes it’s not easy to say the truth, sometimes it’s not even about the truth, it’s about reliving those horrible memories in your mind. It has never been easy and it would never be easy, I know I can’t ignore Ethan forever but until I have something good to say, I would rather not say something that will ruin what’s left of our relationship. I turned to look at Liam. “I don’t know how she died but I know it’s not your fault, I know you loved your wife Liam and you care about her and will never ever let anything horrible happen to her, I know she didn’t die because of you.” I breathed out. “Rose is sad; she needs help and that’s why she keeps doing this, I don’t know how you let them into your life for so damn long,” I whispered as I stared at him, my mind filled with anger and thoughts. “You don’t know what you are saying, you will hate me if you know the truth t

  • Stolen by the mafia king    She did this to us

Bella’s POV… Tears sprinkled out of my eyes, my heart skipped a beat and my mind filled with thoughts, he heard that, that’s not how he was supposed to know, he was meant to find out when he gets older, when he understands why I never came out in the open to say I am his mother. Why does he think Mom was his mother? There were so many ways I wanted to do this for him; there are so many ways I wish we had talked about it. He is too young. “Bella, please open the door.” I hate Liam begging for the third time, I didn’t want to, his mother-in-law didn’t have any right, I didn’t even eat to be a part of this dinner, I would have preferred it if Ethan and I stayed to binge-watch a movie, a different cartoon of his choice than any of this I was angry, I was upset and I didn’t want to yell at Liam, it’s not his fault, he didn’t know that any of this would happen, I should have never told her Ethan is my kid, I should have stayed away, I should have just let her imply that he is no

  • Stolen by the mafia king    I hated her for everything

Liam’s POV… “Bella,” I whispered, but she didn’t listen. She started up the stairs, and in a few seconds she was gone, and I turned to look at Rose. “Ollie, take Ethan upstairs and don’t come back down until I say so.” I breathed out and he didn’t argue, he is always a good kid and he could understand what was happening, I watched as they headed upstairs too, and in a few seconds, I didn’t see them anymore. “Liam- don’t defend her Victor, I am done with you, maybe you can handle her but not me, all I have done all these fucking years is for Sarah and to be honest, I did it for you to Victor,” I stated as I stared at him, He is the only reason I tolerate this ever fucking years because I know Sarah would have wanted her father to be close to Ollie, she would have wanted Ollie to know him the way she knows him, she knows he is going to be the greatest grand father to Ollie and he is always going to love and care for Ollie. “You know what, I am done, you have to make a fuckin

  • Stolen by the mafia king    I am his mother

“Looking at it, I don’t think she has ever been married, her kid, she slept with someone out of wedlock, so I am right, she is only a whore and she has her little product roaming around your house and you are fine with it as long as your dick gets sucked.” She said, and a chuckle escaped my lips. I glanced at her with a smile on my face, I should have known she would say something like that, I am not even surprised she will, she seems like the type of person who will run her mouth to get what she wants. “Say another word about Bella.” “Are you threatening me, Victor he is threatening me.” She said nudging her husband who let out a heavy sigh as he stared at her, he didn’t look any happier. “Are you not tired of doing this Rose.” He finally asked as he glanced at her. He was done eating and from the looks of it, Liam didn’t even look surprised that he asked her, Did this happen every year. “Excuse me.” “Don’t start, we do this every year, and every year I tell you not to

  • Stolen by the mafia king    Grand ma Rose

“Ollie you have grown so big.” Rose smiled. They did introduce themselves before they gave me the stink eye and she gave Ethan another one, and yes she ignored him but my baby boy didn’t even care, Rose didn’t look any happy but her husband Victor, had a smile on his face and it seemed like he was truly happy. Ollie sat between both of them and Ethan and I were on the opposite chairs while Liam sat as the head, in his normal position already. “So Liam tell me, what has been going on for the last year, I can see that you have kept busy all this time,” Rose said with a fake smile on her face, she was directing it at me, Who am I? Why am I here? Why did I have a kid who is here too. She wanted to know the story and I can understand where she is coming from but she needs to calm down about it. “You have certainly moved on from my daughter, but don’t you think you should rather go for someone with class like Caroline, someone who will be a good influence on my grandson and get
